Cierra’s appearance immediately attracted the attention of many.
Upon seeing Cierra, Lisa paused for a moment before joyfully exclaiming, “Cierra!”
Cierra nodded, her expression neutral and lacking emotion, indicating that their relationship wasn’t particularly close. This seemed to temper Lisa’s excitement, halting her advance.
Samuel narrowed his eyes, glancing at Lisa with a smile. “Cierra, do you know her?”
“The young lady from the Chavez family, with some ties to the Swain family. Don’t worry, Mr. Stewart. She’s the one at fault here. A little suffering is in order.”
Cierra casually dismissed Lisa’s hopes of receiving help while reassuring Samuel that the Swain family was currently more focused on their relationship with the Axe. Then, she shifted her tone.
“However, I would appreciate it if Mr. Stewart could do me a favor and let her apologize instead.”
She stepped closer and whispered in Samuel’s ear, “Her brother Alexander has strong ties with Nicholas’s gang.”
Samuel kept a stoic expression. “Fine, I’ll give you face and not make things difficult for her.”
As relief washed over Lisa at this news, Cierra turned her gaze toward Darnell, who had given Steve quite a hard time.
“Mr. Stewart, thank you for your favor. I’ll be sending you a gift later.”
She shot Darnell a cold smile. “We’ve been looking for you for a long time.”
Darnell chuckled, “Miss, do we know each other?”
He pulled Karlee behind him, letting Jefferson protect her.
Cierra’s eyes glinted with malice as she asked, “Where’s your subordinate Cesar?”
At this, Samuel’s eyes lit up with intensity. “Cesar? He’s your subordinate?”
He barked, “Did you kill Samson and the others?”
The group surrounding Darnell suddenly radiated hostility. Darnell’s connection to Cesar likely had something to do with Samson’s death.
They had been searching for Cesar for days, and with Darnell as a lead, they certainly wouldn’t let this opportunity slip away.
“Cesar?”
Darnell frowned, responding indignantly, “My subordinate? What the hell? That bastard claimed he’d be my bodyguard, swindled me out of over a hundred thousand in protection fees, and then vanished without a trace.”
His expression of grievance made it hard not to believe in his honesty.
Upon hearing this, Samuel and the others relaxed slightly, clearly aware of Cesar’s reputation. Darnell likely had been fooled by him.
After all, Darnell didn’t seem like someone who could tame Cesar. Despite being a rogue, Cesar’s skills were undeniable.
To get Cesar to genuinely serve someone required a top-tier hero, and Darnell certainly didn’t fit the bill.
Of course, Samuel wouldn’t let Darnell off the hook easily. He intended to extract some information about Cesar from him one way or another.
The woman named Sandra squinted at Darnell, scrutinizing him closely. She felt like she recognized him from somewhere…
“Regardless of your connection to Samson’s death, you must pay the price for what you did to Mr. Swain.”
At this moment, Cierra sneered at Darnell, “I think Mr. Swain would love to see you getting beaten up.”
Darnell’s eyes widened in alarm. “What do you want to do? Are you going to bully me? If you dare to bully me, I’ll call the police!”
“I have someone at the police station!”
Lisa scoffed at this. This jerk must be out of his mind. If calling the police worked, they would have done it long ago.
“Who’s bullying Karlee? Who’s bullying my sister?”
Just then, over twenty people surged out from both sides of the corridor, approaching the entrance with menacing intent. Leading the charge was a young man in a blue outfit.
He looked to be in his twenties, with shoulder-length hair tied back, giving him an artistic vibe. He wasn’t conventionally handsome, but he appeared vibrant and clean.
However, there was a depth in his bright eyes that gave off an ominous feeling.
Upon seeing the young man in blue, Lisa first paused before bursting into joy and rushing into his arms. “Brother!”
“Brother, why did you come so late?”
Shawn and the others looked equally elated, as though they had seen their savior.
“Mr. Chavez!”
“Mr. Chavez!”
The calls echoed, making the young man the center of attention, while Jefferson subtly averted his gaze, seemingly disliking him.
Lisa’s brother, Alexander Chavez, was one of the three young masters renowned in Whiteville.
Karlee remained silent, quietly observing the situation. She wanted to see how Darnell would handle this scenario, as it would help her persuade her parents in the future.
Upon seeing Alexander’s arrival and comparing their attire, she couldn’t help but shake her head.
Darnell joyfully slapped his thigh, relieved that someone had come to the rescue. With this new arrival, he felt confident that his role as Karlee’s “husband” could now take a backseat.
Alexander embraced Lisa and nodded at Shawn and the others, who were sporting bruises. He then turned to Karlee, who appeared unscathed, and gave her a gentle smile. Finally, he softly patted Lisa’s back, reassuring her.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. I was just having dinner with Elvis and the others.”
“I arrived a bit late, but it’s alright. Now that I’m here, I’ll make sure you all get back what you’ve suffered.”
A fierce glint flashed in his eyes. “No one can bully you or Karlee anymore.”
Shawn and Lisa recounted the events, embellishing the story a bit and mentioning Darnell as well.
“Is it you who bullied my sister?”
As Darnell discreetly retreated to munch on chips and let the stage be taken over by Alexander, Alexander stepped forward, his gaze sharp as he looked at Samuel and Sandra, his smile devoid of warmth.
“Is it really acceptable for so many people to bully two vulnerable girls?”
As his voice rose, over twenty of his companions surrounded Samuel and his group, exuding a formidable presence.
The big-nosed man and his companions sensed the danger and clenched their fists in response.
Darnell cheered from the sidelines, shouting, “Go, Mr. Chavez! Go, Mr. Chavez!”
Seeing Darnell act this way, Karlee wanted to cry. What an embarrassing situation.
“Mr. Chavez, it’s me.”
Before Samuel could react, Cierra stepped forward, diffusing the tense atmosphere. “Tonight is a misunderstanding.”
Alexander paused upon seeing Cierra, raising his hand to halt his companions’ advance. “Cierra?”
“I’ll explain the details later. For now, let me introduce you.”
Cierra pointed to Samuel beside her and leaned in to whisper, “This is Mr. Stewart, one of the gang leaders of the Axe, brought in to replace Samson.”
Alexander’s expression shifted slightly.
Samuel smirked arrogantly. “Mr. Chavez, tonight, your sister hit my woman, and I retaliated against your people. If I hear an apology, I’ll let it go as a favor to Cierra. If not, then we’ll fight it out, going all out until one side is finished.”
“But one way or another, I’m going to take down this guy tonight.”
He pointed at Darnell and continued, “If you want to step in, then let’s see who is the stronger-the Chavez family or the Axe.”
Cierra chimed in, “He injured Mr. Stewart’s subordinate and has a grudge with Mr. Swain. Mr. Chavez, you’d best not get involved.”
Hearing Samuel and Cierra’s words, Alexander glanced at Darnell, who was lounging around, drinking soda, his expression changing slightly.
He hesitated for a minute.
Alexander exhaled, looking at Samuel and Cierra with a smile.
“He’s just nobody. His life and death have nothing to do with me.”
