Chapter 140: His Sales Performance Ranks First

Sending off the clients?
Not only were Mya and Eliezer stunned, but Casey and the others were also shocked. Was Darnell going to reject this handed-to-them order like that?
Even though this order wouldn’t make any profit and would require them to cover the shipping costs, once they signed the contract, their assessment task would be completed, and they would receive a commission of several million.
The pros and cons were clear at a glance, yet Darnell let it slip away. It’s really hard to understand.
Jolie stared at Darnell, with a faint hint of admiration compared to the astonishment of the others.
“Darnell, what’s your attitude?”
Seeing Darnell driving them away with his words, the male assistant beside Mya became angry. They came here to sign the contract, which was already a great concession and loss of benefits.
But Darnell not only didn’t flatter them but also turned them down and sent them off. “Do you know how many people want to do business with us?”
“Do you know how many people want us to place an order?”
Darnell took Bailee’s soda, opened it, and poured a sip into his mouth. “It’s not about attitude. I’m just telling you that I won’t do this business.”
“You can trade with whoever you want. I never make losing deals. Either follow my rules or get lost.”
“Not making any money but having to subsidize more than ten thousand in shipping costs, I won’t be a fool for that.”
Darnell raised his chin towards the door. “You may leave now.”
Mya’s male assistant spoke sternly, “Although we covered the shipping costs, we essentially gave you free advertising worth more than ten thousand. Not to mention the promotion from Miss Cornish, the top reporter. You’re sure to make a hefty profit. If it weren’t for our superiors asking us to give you the order, do you think we would willingly come to you?”
“Pioneer Properties is willing to pay three million to participate in our project!”
Although Shayla and the others were somewhat anxious, out of trust in Darnell, they didn’t say anything.
Eliezer furrowed his brows tightly, feeling that Darnell had some ulterior motives.
“Then go find Pioneer Properties.”
Darnell remained unmoved. “Here, everything is done according to my rules.”
He didn’t mind covering the shipping costs. Even if he had to invest one million himself, it didn’t matter. He could consider it as doing something good for the people in the mountainous areas.
But seeing the way Mya and her male assistant acted condescendingly towards him, Darnell felt unhappy. And when he felt unhappy, he needed to vent.
Mya reached out to stop her assistant from getting angry and looked at Eliezer with a sneer. “Mr. Izzard, no wonder Spectrum Pharmaceuticals lost Adventure Industries as a major client. In this past year, Spectrum Pharmaceuticals has been suppressed by Pioneer Properties, losing market share fast. With employees of such low quality, it’s no surprise Spectrum Pharmaceuticals is in decline.”
“As a manager, shouldn’t you do a better job of educating your subordinates? Are you worthy of Mr. Gower’s support?”
“Ms. Ashworth, this man is directly under Miss Fanshaw’s management. He’s got nothing to do with me.”
Eliezer shrugged his shoulders. “He was parachuted in as a team leader, showing no respect towards me. I’m already used to his arrogant behavior.”
Although saying this made him appear somewhat incompetent, as long as he could secure this deal, he didn’t mind showing weakness.
Mya sneered. “A parachuted team leader? In other words, he got in through connections? No wonder his quality is so poor.”
“Ms. Ashworth, what’s the point of saying these useless words?”
Darnell spoke lightly, “Take your documents back and leave.”
“You!”
As Darnell’s words fell, Mya’s expression darkened, and then she sneered, “Darnell, you will regret your arrogance today.”
After saying that, she had someone put away the documents and dial a number on her phone while putting it on speaker.
The call was quickly connected, and a sweet voice rang out. “Ms. Ashworth, thank you for your hard work. How did it go? Did you manage to secure the deal?”
The tone was gentle and sweet enough to melt bones. Even Casey and the others were momentarily dazed by its seductiveness.
Darnell immediately recognized Abbigail’s voice but didn’t react. He opened his computer and started playing games.
“Miss Cornish, we arrived at Spectrum Pharmaceuticals and met Darnell.”
Mya looked at Darnell with sharp eyes before softly replying over the phone,
“But he gave us attitude. He not only showed no respect but also said that this business doesn’t make money and refused to do business with us.”
“He is demanding that we follow Spectrum Pharmaceuticals’ rules if we want to negotiate. In other words, he wants to make money from our foundation.”
“This kind of arrogant man… I think we don’t need to give him any chances. We should even complain to Spectrum Pharmaceuticals’s headquarters.”
Abbigail showed no signs of anger. She spoke gently, “Ms. Ashworth, what did we discuss last night?”
“You told me no matter what price we have to pay, we must secure this deal. If there are any losses, you will take full responsibility and compensate…”
Mya’s mouth twitched as she caught onto something. “But we have already made concessions. And we have Pioneer Properties…”
Abbigail remained gentle. “Since we have already reached an agreement, let’s stick to what was agreed upon.”
A few simple sentences fell into Eliezer’s ears like thunderbolts. It indicated that Darnell really knew Abbigail and that their relationship was very close. Otherwise, Abbigail wouldn’t have thrown out such heavy profits just to sign a contract with Darnell while also defending him in her words.
Shayla and the other three women secretly gave thumbs up to Darnell. Impressive! He even managed to charm Abbigail!
At that moment, Mya had a sharp look on her face. She retorted as she glared at Darnell, “We indeed had an agreement, but he’s arrogant, conceited, and despicable… I find him extremely unpleasant. Miss Cornish, I don’t understand why you insist on signing a contract with him?”
“With so many good options available, why choose an unknown guy like him?”
She stared at Darnell and sneered, “Is he your relative or friend? I’ve never seen anyone like him around you before.”
“I’ve changed my mind about this deal now. I’m planning on going back to Pioneer Properties.”
Still calm without any anger in her voice, Abbigail said softly, “Ms. Ashworth, we reached an agreement last night.”
Mya exhaled heavily. “Yes…”
Abbigail’s voice was pleasant. “I will compensate the foundation for its losses, including the loss suffered choosing Spectrum Pharmaceuticals over Pioneer Properties.”
Mya breathed out another sigh. “Yes…”
“It was One Cent Foundation who invited me to join this project in the first place. And I have final decision-making power, don’t I?”
Mya struggled before saying, “Yes…”
“You already know all of this. Why are you still talking nonsense?”
Abbigail’s voice turned cold and her sweet tone disappeared, as if she suddenly became another person.
“Just give him what he wants. It’s that simple! Can’t you understand?”
This woman changed her demeanor faster than flipping a page.
Mya was taken aback for a moment before becoming firm. “I’m sorry. I find him unpleasant and cannot do it.”
“Ms. Ashworth, we signed a contract.”
Abbigail reminded her, “The contract clearly states that although the foundation is the host organization, I am the ultimate decision-maker. I help increase your foundation’s visibility, but in return, you are required to follow my demands within the approved budget range.”
“This includes the procurement of six million worth of medicine.”
By now, Darnell understood more or less that One Cent Foundation had a cooperative relationship with Abbigail. One aimed at enhancing visibility while the other sought meaningful contributions.
Mya’s expression shifted, and her voice turned serious. “Miss Cornish, don’t try to pressure me. If it comes to it, we can terminate the contract.”
“The foundation would be better off with you, but it can operate just fine without you.”
Her words turned sharp. “I believe Pioneer Properties won’t withdraw their intention to donate three million just because of you.”
“Terminate the contract? Can you really do that?”
Abbigail laughed coldly, “I only take a symbolic fee of five hundred thousand from the foundation. However, if you breach the contract, the foundation will owe me a penalty of a hundred times that amount.”
“Unless I resign voluntarily or commit a crime, you will have to pay that penalty.”
“You think you or the foundation can come up with fifty million? Don’t talk to me about terminating the contract like that.”
Mya’s expression darkened.
It was only now that she realized why Abbigail was so famous and successful. This woman truly considered every angle.
“If you can’t bring back a satisfactory answer today, I will kick you out of this charity project.”
“I will also gather the foundation members to question your competence and make sure you are completely removed from One Cent Foundation.”
Abbigail’s tone was icy. “Though you are the vice president, with my current position and influence, I can easily ruin you.”
“I made it very clear. This is a threat.”
“Oh, give the phone to Darnell.”
The entire room fell silent. Everyone was dumbfounded. Abbigail’s demeanor was even more ruthless than Areli’s. No wonder she was the top reporter in Whiteville.
Mya’s male assistant had lowered his head, worried about retribution for his earlier disrespect toward Darnell.
Jolie’s eyes sparkled as she gazed curiously at Darnell, intrigued by the man.
Mya’s expression flickered. She never expected Abbigail’s sudden change of attitude.
Realizing the significant gap between her and Abbigail, she approached Darnell, her face grim. “Mr. Halford, I’m sorry.”
“Miss Cornish wants to speak with you.”
Darnell picked up the phone and turned off the speaker. Just after he said hello, a soft voice came through. “Darnell, have you been wronged?”
“It’s my fault for not instructing them properly. I’ve already scolded her. She won’t act high and mighty toward you anymore.”
Darnell felt embarrassed. “Thank you, Abbigail.”
“Don’t be so formal. If you want to thank me, take me out for dinner this weekend.”
Abbigail whined, “Yesterday was so hectic that we didn’t get to eat together, and I’m itching for it. You have to promise me!”
Darnell’s mouth dropped open. How could he refuse?
After they set a time, he hung up and returned the phone to the visibly uneasy Mya.
Taking a deep breath, Mya bowed to Darnell. “Mr. Halford, I’m sorry for what happened earlier. We’ll do things your way.”
Darnell tilted his head slightly. “Bailee, Casey, Shayla, please reprint the contract.”
“The price will be five points lower than Ms. Ashworth’s contract.”
Mya’s face changed slightly as she looked at Darnell unbelievably. “Mr. Halford, you…”
Darnell extended his hand and smiled, “No harm done without getting acquainted first. Consider this my little gift.”
Mya was slightly stunned before quickly shaking hands with him gratefully.
Eliezer turned pale because he knew he had lost.
