OLIVIA
Despite being caught in the act, I wasn’t ashamed of my actions. It was precisely what I needed at that point.
My life was going astray. I was losing my mind. Just a few minutes of romance, and my worries were gone.
I enjoyed every bit of the scene. I wished we hadn’t stopped.
Twice, I’ve gotten myself involved in a hot romance with Adrian, and it feels like we’ve been married for decades.
It was strange how I didn’t feel that toward Cyril during lovemaking.
“I am sorry for what happened. I didn’t mean to take advantage of your situation. I should have controlled my urge,” Adrian apologized.
The apology ruined the beautiful moment I thought we had. I thought he felt something during the lovemaking.
It dawned on me that I was throwing myself at him. The apology made me feel so cheap.
“Are you okay? Did I say something to upset you?” Adrian asked me when he noticed the sad look on my face. He knew for sure that his utterances were the reason for my sudden change of mood.
“It’s fine. It’s not you, it’s me. I shouldn’t have thrown myself at you,” I said and wiped off my tears.
I wanted to step outside the car, and he pulled me back.
I looked sideways. After everything that happened, I couldn’t bring myself to look into his eyes and speak.
“I am sorry for what I said. The truth is, I love you so much. For the past few days, I’ve grown to love you. But…” Adrian paused just when he was making sense to me.
I had waited so long for him to express his feelings for me. I thought this time would never come.
I quickly focused my attention on him. “What’s the problem now? Why did you suddenly stop talking? Is there a stumbling block?”
“Of course there is. Don’t pretend as though you aren’t aware that your husband, Cyril, is the stumbling block. I wouldn’t want you two to start fighting because of me,” Adrian explained. I discerned an atom of sincerity in his utterances.
As much as I appreciated his honesty, I still wanted him to be ruthless. Perhaps, possessing a bit of Cyril’s craziness.
This was the time I needed Adrian to fight for me like he meant it.
“What difference does it make? Cyril already thinks I’m fucking you. We both know how stubborn Cyril is. There’s nothing anyone would say to convince him otherwise,” I explained tirelessly to make him see the reasons we should be together.
“So? It doesn’t change the fact that we are doing something wrong. For crying out loud, you are a married woman,” Adrian lamented. I concentrated on his heartbeat and observed how it was beating faster like the drums of war.
“I should have thought about this a long time ago. You don’t love me. You’re just using me to warm your bed. The night we fucked, didn’t it occur to you that I was a married woman? Should I remind you that you just had a hot romance with this same married woman a few minutes ago inside your car?” I asked Adrian. I didn’t care if my voice was heard from outside. I was desperate to prove a point to Adrian.
I got him chewing his lips. He couldn’t speak further. He stuttered at every attempt to speak up.
“That’s what I thought. You have nothing to say about this. Anyway, I will be waiting for you inside the shopping mall,” I poured out my heart and stepped outside.
Adrian didn’t make any attempt to stop me. He was quite aware that he had screwed up already.
As I headed to the mall, I spotted Kate approaching from outside the mall I was heading to. I figured that she was already tired of waiting for us to show up and decided to come to find out the reason for the delay.
I dried up my tears immediately as Kate got closer. I put up a smile to avoid being interrogated by her.
“Hey, what’s wrong? You two aren’t done making out already?” she teased me. Unfortunately, I didn’t buy the joke. I ignored her taunts and rushed inside the mall without uttering a word.
Kate followed me immediately and kept calling for me to stop walking faster. I had no idea where I was headed. I just wanted to find someplace to sit and clear my head of my recent drama.
The mall was big enough for me to stroll around. Finally, I found a place to get seated. Luckily for me, it was an empty seat. I felt like the seat was specially made for me.
“Wait a minute! Have you been crying lately?” Kate asked after getting closer to me.
“Did Adrian do anything to upset you?” she popped another question. She tried getting closer to me. I quickly stood up and looked in the opposite direction.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Nothing is wrong with me. I am doing perfectly great,” I answered with a shaky voice. My response didn’t even correlate with my tone. It was damn obvious that I was lying.
“Please, turn around and let me see your eyes,” Kate requested calmly.
“What business do you have to do with my eyes? Just leave me alone.” I refused. I thought yelling at Kate was going to make her stop asking silly questions.
I was wrong on that one. Not only was Kate relentless, but she also rushed in front of me to satisfy her curiosity.
My little dirty secrets finally got exposed. There was nothing to hide anymore.
“Start talking now. What did Adrian do to you? Do you want us to go back home? That, I can gladly do,” Kate suggested.
I lacked the right words to express how I felt. I just fell on Kate’s shoulders and wept like a pathetic widow who recently lost her husband to the cold hands of death.
Like an elder sister, Kate consoled me.
