“Rosalind, I only have eyes for you.”
Ulric could tell she was thinking about her father again, and he tightened his grip on her hand unconsciously.
Rosalind believed his words.
But she didn’t want Ulric to only see her.
Johnny was stunned!
He never expected the person Tilda had been on the phone with was her cousin!
Now that he thought about it, the way she had smiled and mentioned staying at his place seemed so natural, without any of the shyness one would expect from a girl talking to her boyfriend.
It was all his fault for being impulsive and not considering other possibilities!
But now the question arose-how could he find Tilda?
Frustrated, Johnny kicked the sofa in his living room and grabbed his phone, aimlessly scrolling through it.
Suddenly, he remembered that Tilda used to work at Prosperity Holdings! Back then, she had been there with Rosalind, and it was later that Rosalind was transferred to the headquarters by Ulric.
Johnny jumped up, searching for the phone number of the branch manager at Prosperity Holdings.
It didn’t take long for the call to connect. The voice on the line was respectful and formal.
“Mr. Chow, how may I assist you?”
“Could you check with HR to see if there’s a girl named Tilda who used to work at Prosperity Holdings?”
“Of course! I’ll check right now.”
After hanging up, Johnny set his phone down and got up to grab a bottle of water from the fridge. He returned and turned on his phone again, but still no response.
He stepped out to the balcony for a smoke and came back in, but still no news.
Why was it taking so long to find someone?
Johnny glanced at the car keys by the entrance, about to grab them when suddenly his phone rang.
He answered it immediately.
“Mr. Chow, there is indeed a girl named Tilda who worked at Prosperity Holdings, but she resigned many years ago!”
“Do you have her phone number? Any contact information?”
“Yes! I’ll send it to you!”
Johnny couldn’t help but smile, snapping his fingers instinctively.
He really was clever…
Following the phone number sent by the Prosperity Holdings manager, Johnny dialed it right away.
And surprisingly, it connected! It seemed she hadn’t changed her number.
As he watched the screen showing it was dialing, then switched to call timing, Johnny was about to speak when a girl’s voice came through first.
“Hello.”
Johnny was taken aback.
That was clearly Rosalind’s voice!
“Hello?” Rosalind repeated.
Johnny was speechless. “Isn’t this Tilda’s number? Why do you have it?”
Rosalind hadn’t expected it to be Johnny either. She was stunned for a few seconds before responding, “She gave me her number, and I’ve been using it. What do you want with her?”
“Johnny, I hope you can keep your distance from my friend! You can have your fun, but Tilda isn’t that kind of girl, and didn’t you say you wouldn’t marry her? So don’t waste her time, and don’t waste yours on frivolities.”
“It was Ulric who suddenly asked me. I… I haven’t even had a real relationship with her yet, so of course, I didn’t think about marrying her!”
When he was in the hospital, there was nothing between him and Tilda. How could he even talk about marriage?
But things had changed since then!
“And now? Do you want to marry her now?”
Johnny, feeling annoyed, ran his fingers through his hair, momentarily stumped by her question.
He could easily lie, but the person on the other end was Tilda’s best friend and his own best mate’s woman. How could he deceive her?
“I haven’t figured it out yet.”
“Tilda doesn’t like you. I asked her.”
“When Ulric asked you if you would marry her, I also asked Tilda, and she said she wasn’t interested in you.”
