Inside the room, Rebecca was even more surprised than Rosalind.
“Ah? Uncle Caesar, you must be joking!”
Caesar hesitated to speak, and in the end, he didn’t say anything. He just smiled and said, “Audrey and I are planning to go to New Zealand for some matters that need attending to. Ulric will be in your care! I trust your medical skills.”
“Don’t worry. Ulric is already fine now. You and Aunt Audrey can go about your business,” Rebecca reassured him.
“Alright.”
Knowing that Caesar was about to leave, Rosalind quickly found an empty room to hide in, avoiding any contact with him.
After he left, Rosalind knocked on the door.
“Miss Ruell, you’re here,” Rebecca said as she turned around to find the ointment for her.
As she searched, she suddenly paused and slightly turned her body to ask tentatively, “How long have you been here?”
Miss Ruell probably didn’t hear the conversation between her and Uncle Caesar, right?
“Just arrived,” Rosalind didn’t want Rebecca to feel awkward. After all, she had always been gentle and caring. And it was clear that she had no feelings for Ulric.
And even if she did, Rosalind was not in the place to be jealous or compete with her.
Ulric had been seriously injured while saving her, and it was Rebecca who brought him back from the brink of death. Besides, the bond between their families seemed to be deep.
Although Rebecca came from a wealthy family, she didn’t have that kind of arrogant temperament. Instead, she gave off a gentle and friendly vibe.
Just like now, without hesitation, she took the ointment and crouched down to apply it to Rosalind’s wound.
It was no different from the doctors in the hospital, or even better in terms of service.
“Your wounds are not healing well. Several places are infected. Fortunately, the test results showed no major issues. You can try to get out of the wheelchair to walk around a bit, slowly, and get some exercise.”
“Okay.” Rosalind nodded slowly and then asked softly, “Did Ulric accidentally pull at the wound just now?”
“Did he tell you?”
“No.” She saw the new bandage on Ulric’s wound with her own eyes.
Rebecca quickly waved her hand. “Don’t ask me anything. I don’t know anything. He doesn’t want me to say anything!”
Rosalind sighed helplessly, “I’m just concerned about his health.”
After all, he narrowly escaped death, and she was afraid of any mishaps.
“Mr. Walters has a good physical constitution and recovers quickly. You can put your worries aside. He won’t be in any life-threatening danger.”
“That’s good. I’m relieved.”
Rosalind got the answer she wanted and prepared to go back to the ward.
Suddenly, Rebecca called out to her from behind, “Miss Ruell.”
“Yes?”
“I want to ask you a question.”
She nodded earnestly. “Go ahead.”
Rebecca hesitated for a moment before awkwardly asking, “Do you love Mr. Walters?”
“Well… I don’t mean anything else by it. I just want to know, with a man who would risk his life for you, do you really love him?” Rebecca, who had never been in a relationship, was quite curious.
Rosalind only smiled and didn’t give an answer.
She always remembered her deadline-when the time came, she would have to disappear from Ulric’s world. Whether she loved him or not didn’t matter.
“You’ll know when you encounter it yourself.”
Rebecca sighed softly after much deliberation before speaking up again, “Miss Ruell, I’ll be honest… I feel like Mr. Walters loves you more deeply than you love him.”
“Your feeling is correct.”
