“If I were a shrew, then you’re a fool!” Tilda shouted at him, but she had no intention of going back to disturb Rosalind and Ulric.
She had been too anxious just now, only thinking about Rosalind’s well-being and forgetting everything else.
Johnny couldn’t be bothered with her anymore and turned to leave.
Suddenly…
A distinct rumbling sound echoed in the quiet hospital entrance.
This place was too spacious, amplifying the sound.
Johnny paused in his steps and turned his head to look at her, raising an eyebrow. “What sound was that?”
Tilda awkwardly clutched her stomach and retorted, “You misheard. There’s no sound!”
“Oh! Then I won’t keep you company. Uncle Caesar said he prepared a table full of delicious food for me. Steaks, abalone, lobsters… He said I just woke up and needed to eat more for nourishment.”
Tilda had rushed here without wasting a single moment after getting off the plane, and in between, she had argued with Johnny for a long time. There was really nothing in her stomach.
And yet Johnny had to tease her like this!
“I heard that Uncle Caesar was afraid Ulric wouldn’t be accustomed to the food here, so he specially brought in a chef from Grand Dinh Hotel in Northville City! Do you know that?”
Tilda’s eyes could almost shoot out daggers to cut off Johnny’s tongue.
“Could you please leave quickly?”
Johnny feigned innocence. “You’re not going? I thought if you were hungry, you could come join me. Waiting here is boring, and who knows how long it’ll take.”
“I! Am! Not! Going!”
“Are you sure?”
In response to him came another round of rumbling sounds.
“Let’s go. I don’t bother arguing with women! If you starve to death, Ulric will probably blame me for not taking care of his guest.”
Johnny threw these words and walked forward. Soon after, he heard footsteps following behind him.
His thin lips couldn’t help but curl up high.
He finally felt like he had won a round!
…
Ulric was transferred to a hospital room, and although the monitoring devices on his body weren’t completely removed, they were greatly reduced.
“He can’t move around, don’t let the wound touch water, and call me when it’s time to change the dressing,” the female doctor instructed Rosalind one by one, giving her own phone number as well.
“Thank you. I didn’t even know how to address you.”
“Rebecca Stewart. Just call me Rebecca,” she smiled. “Go take care of Mr. Walters now. Call me if you need anything.”
“Okay.”
Rosalind watched her leave and then turned around to push open the door of the hospital room.
Even though she already knew that the Walters family was wealthy and the private hospital would undoubtedly be luxurious, she still couldn’t help but stare at the room in front of her.
If it weren’t for those monitoring devices still present, she would have thought she had entered some high-end hotel. The decoration was magnificent and the room was surprisingly spacious.
“What’s wrong?”
Ulric, on the hospital bed, saw her standing at the door and thought something had happened or that she wasn’t feeling well.
Rosalind quickly went over and smiled. “Nothing. Does your wound still hurt?”
When the nurse was changing his dressing earlier, Rosalind saw that penetrating wound. The cut was long with stitched marks on it. It was truly shocking!
“It doesn’t hurt.” Although Ulric’s handsome face still looked weakly pale, his gaze towards Rosalind remained gentle. “You don’t need to worry.”
“How can I not worry? I warned you back then!” Rosalind exclaimed, recalling how she had sensed Sirena’s knife aimed at him just moments before.
“I said I would protect you.”
At that time, Ulric only had one thought. He wanted Rosalind to be safe!
Rosalind lowered her gaze and remained silent for a long time before softly asking, “You already knew about the children… didn’t you?”
