“I may not like Rosalind either, but I dislike even more how you’ve turned the Walters family upside down!”
This incident caused by Sirena truly frightened Caesar. In the past, he seldom interfered in his wife’s affairs out of consideration for her health and simply because he couldn’t be bothered. But if he had known that his wife had indulged Sirena to such an extent, to the point of madness and even harming their son, he would have definitely stepped in to rectify the situation.
Audrey, knowing she was in the wrong, could only explain in a low voice, “Look at our friends around us. Whether it’s a daughter-in-law or a son-in-law, they all come from similar backgrounds. I wanted to find someone for Ulric who is highly educated, capable, and can help him in his career. I only wanted what was best for our son!”
“Sirena may indeed be capable, but she is ruthless and will do anything to get what she wants! That alone is unacceptable.”
“Well then, my dear, think back to when there was no Rosalind. Ulric and Sirena were doing so well together! She dedicated herself to helping him at work, and even you have to admit that. Besides, they were good friends. They used to have meals and gatherings with the Chow family from time to time. They got along well with each other. But everything changed once Rosalind appeared!”
“Regardless of what it is, from now on, you are not allowed to mention Sirena again. I don’t want anything to hinder Ulric’s recovery!”
Audrey quickly nodded. “Don’t worry. I absolutely won’t! I won’t let her get close to our son anymore. I only spared her life out of gratitude from the past. Even if you can accept her, I can’t. I’m afraid she will hurt Ulric again!”
“Now, I pray that you really destroyed all the evidence of what you did to Rosalind’s mother back then. Don’t let it be discovered in the future.”
Caesar didn’t dare think about what his son would do if he found out.
…
In the hospital room at Central Union Hospital in Northville City.
Looking at the empty hospital bed, Tilda was dumbfounded!
Just a moment ago, Jake suddenly insisted on having pastries while Rosalind said she wanted to rest. Tilda had no choice but to take Jake downstairs to buy them, thinking it would not disturb Rosalind’s sleep.
But when they returned…
She was gone!
Luckily, Tilda wasn’t too foolish. She immediately turned her attention to the boy beside her. “Jake, did you already know that your mommy was going to run away?”
Jake pursed his lips and tried to play innocent. “How would I know?”
“You’re lying! Just now you said you wanted pastries but then claimed there was nothing you wanted at one store and then another store. Can you honestly say you weren’t trying to buy some time?”
“Hehe!” Jake finally came clean and spread his hands innocently. “Mommy is an adult. How can a kid like me control where she goes?”
“You!” Tilda was choking back her anger. “She’s injured! It’s not that I wanted to stop her. Her body just couldn’t handle it anymore!”
Everyone was doing this out of concern for her!
It wasn’t meant to harm her.
“I know.” Jake nodded as he looked into Tilda’s eyes. “But Mommy isn’t happy here. I saw her cry.”
“I think if Mommy is sad, those wounds won’t heal! If she’s willing to endure the pain just to go find him, it means she really wants to see him!”
Jake’s words made Tilda feel like there was some truth to them.
But…
She glanced at the empty bed and lamented with a hand on her forehead, “Malcolm is coming later… How am I supposed to explain to him?”
