“…” Rosalind’s hand paused, nearly dropping the milk cup.
Why was he bringing this up suddenly? Was it another test?
“That little girl looked a lot like you, especially her eyes,” Ulric recalled. He remembered noticing her immediately; there was an inexplicable sense of kinship!
He usually had no particular feelings towards children, neither liking nor disliking them, but he had a special fondness for that little girl!
Hearing this, Rosalind lost her appetite and put down her cup. “If you have something to say, just say it!”
“Nothing really, just making conversation.” Ulric looked up with an innocent expression, making Rosalind seem overly reactive.
“…”
“Don’t get me wrong. I went to Wayer City for work, not to find you. The resort project there is doing well. Since you left W Group, your work capabilities have improved rapidly. I’m happy for you.”
Seeing that he seemed to mean nothing else, Rosalind was about to relax when Ulric dropped another bombshell.
“Oh, by the way, I bought some candy for that little girl back then. Her mother even left a business card for me at the front desk! I’ll go find it in my briefcase-”
“Cough cough cough-”
Rosalind almost jumped out of her chair!
The person who bought candy for Floyd was Ulric?!
It was him?!
Rosalind couldn’t believe such a coincidence; they had already met!
“What’s wrong?” Ulric handed her a tissue, pretending not to notice the panic in her eyes.
“I’m fine! Mr. Walters, please hurry and eat.” Hearing that he wanted to find the business card made Rosalind extremely anxious. “I need to meet B7 soon!”
Ulric raised an eyebrow. “You can’t even spare me the time to find a business card?”
“Right!”
She couldn’t let Ulric find that business card!
If he called the number-or worse, he might not even need to call-the card clearly had her name on it!
“Alright then, I’ll change my clothes and we can go.”
Ulric didn’t tease her further. He wiped his lips with a napkin and then went back to his bedroom.
There was no business card…
He hadn’t taken it at all! He had decided to forget Rosalind and left Wayer City abruptly. When the front desk handed him the card, he was feeling heavy-hearted and irritated.
If only time could go back, he would have hugged that little girl more and told her how much he loved her mother!
Or perhaps go back to when Rosalind said she loved Malcolm; he would never have believed it.

Rosalind followed Ulric into the car as he drove them to a remote suburb of Northville City.
Had it been anyone else bringing her here, Rosalind would have been scared.
The car finally stopped in front of an old detached house.
Rosalind got out and looked up. The sunlight was too glaring; she shielded her eyes with her hand to see the three-story building clearly.
“B7 is here?”
“Yes,” Ulric nodded.
Rosalind reached into her bag and gripped the hard drive containing surveillance footage. She turned to Ulric. “You can leave now. I need to meet him alone.”
Ulric’s dark eyes glanced at her bag. His lips tightened as he spoke seriously, “No matter how biased my parents are towards Sirena, I won’t cover for her.”
He thought she had evidence against Sirena.
