Ulric’s tone carried a sense of helplessness, so different from his usual demeanor.
Seeing him like this, Jake felt uncomfortable. After a moment of hesitation, he reached out his small hand and grasped a few of Ulric’s fingers.
Ulric suddenly looked up at him.

Jake had acknowledged what he just said!
