Malcolm couldn’t bear to think about the day he might receive news of Rosalind’s death. He knew he would go mad.
“I know you’re doing this for my sake, but there’s no choice in front of us,” Rosalind said, her words cut off as Malcolm suddenly strode towards the door.
Startled, she hurried to grab him. “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to find Ulric! I need to ask him what he really wants! Because of him, your mother is dead. Does he have to kill you too before he’s satisfied?”
“Don’t go.” Rosalind blocked his way. “Malcolm, I promise you, I will protect myself more! Until B7’s surveillance is restored, we can’t act rashly.”
She wanted everyone responsible for her mother’s suffering to face justice, but now was not the time to alert them.
“You’re heading into the abyss again! Rosalind, I’m afraid of losing you.”
He couldn’t imagine life without Rosalind or what torturous methods those people might devise once they targeted her.
“I know what I’m doing, don’t worry.” Rosalind was ready to move forward. She had long realized that things wouldn’t end so simply.
It wouldn’t be as easy as she thought; there would inevitably be mistakes along the way.
Malcolm held back because he knew he had no status or position to continue persuading her. In the end, he could only make a small request.
“You can work at W Group, but I must pick you up and drop you off every day!”
“Are you staying in Northville City for me?” Rosalind was taken aback and furrowed her brows. “But you have a job!”
“Nothing else matters. I need to ensure your safety!” Malcolm patted Rosalind’s shoulder. “Don’t feel pressured. I can find a good job in Northville City too. I’ll get a place close to W Group so it’s convenient to pick you up and for you to reach me if needed.”
Rosalind wasn’t concerned about these things; she couldn’t bear such heavy favors.
“Malcolm, you’ve sacrificed too much for me already. I don’t want this for you!”
“You called me brother; it’s only right for a brother to protect his sister! Besides, I’ve always taken care of Jake. Now that he’s with Ulric, I’m worried too.”
“…”
“I’m begging you, let me stay in Northville City!” Malcolm’s plea left no room for Rosalind to refuse.
Many things were dangerous now; it was clear he wouldn’t leave.
Malcolm had decided that if Rosalind agreed, he would stay openly. If she didn’t, he would stay secretly.
Rosalind had guessed this too.
“You won’t leave no matter what?”
“That’s right! I can’t leave.”
“Alright then.” Rosalind straightforwardly made her own demand. “You can stay in Northville City and pick me up from work, but-you must accept the blind dates arranged by your family.”
Malcolm was stunned and frowned deeply. “Did my parents say something to you?”
Rosalind shook her head gently. “No, but Malcolm, you should have a family. You can’t spend all your time on me; it puts a lot of pressure on me!”
Malcolm looked into her eyes, his lips moved slightly. “Do you really… want me to go on blind dates?”
