There was a hint of blame in those words.
After all, from Mrs. Chow’s perspective, the two young lovers had a fight, and it ended with her son getting into a car accident and landing in the intensive care unit. Anyone would feel upset about that.
“Ulric, is that true?” Mr. Chow didn’t get swayed by Sirena’s words, nor did he help her up. Instead, he directly asked Ulric.
He actually didn’t like Sirena, thinking she was too scheming. Mr. Chow preferred to believe Ulric.
“Sirena, you mean Johnny’s car accident happened because he didn’t see the oncoming traffic,” Ulric questioned Sirena instead of answering directly. “But I checked the surveillance footage; it clearly shows a car recklessly crashing into him, causing the accident. You’re twisting the facts.”
“I-I didn’t know! I haven’t seen the footage, so I just assumed he wasn’t paying attention.”
Ulric’s lips curled slightly as his dark eyes fixed on her coldly.
“You’re saying this just to clear yourself of suspicion and make Uncle and Aunt think you were unaware.”
Caught in her lie, Sirena panicked but tried to maintain her composure.
“Ulric, what are you implying? Do you think I caused Johnny’s accident?”
“Someone will investigate thoroughly; there’s no need for you to put on an act here.”
Mr. Chow and Mrs. Chow heard their conversation clearly.
Compared to Mr. Chow’s calmness, Mrs. Chow was very surprised.
“Aren’t you two married? Why are you talking to each other like this?”
“Auntie, Sirena and I have nothing to do with each other,” Ulric distanced himself without any intention of sparing Sirena’s feelings. “As for Johnny’s situation, I will investigate fully and communicate actively with the doctors. Once he wakes up, the truth will come out.”
Mrs. Chow nodded and looked at Sirena kneeling on the ground with some hesitation in her eyes.
“Child, you should get up. If this matter has nothing to do with you, you don’t need to do this. Our Chow family won’t blame an innocent person without reason.” Of course, that’s if you’re truly not involved.
Sirena’s plan was completely different from reality, leaving her awkwardly stuck in place.
She couldn’t decide whether to stand up or continue kneeling.
Fortunately, it was soon time to visit the intensive care unit, so Mr. and Mrs. Chow went in to see their son without paying further attention to her.
After they went inside, Ulric walked over to Sirena and whispered, “Your performance was overdone.”
“I sincerely apologized! Whatever, believe it or not.”
“I only believe in facts.” Ulric took a few steps away but then suddenly stopped and turned back to look at her. “And Sirena, you’d better pray that what you said about Jake being your child isn’t true.”
Sirena immediately looked up at him.
When she met Ulric’s cold gaze, she instinctively shrank back.
“I-I always followed your parents’ arrangements; you can’t blame me!”
“If it’s true, I won’t spare anyone involved, including my parents.”
“They’re your parents; what can you do?”
Ulric’s lips curled again. “Things won’t go as you expect! I’ve said before; I could never marry someone who has hurt Rosalind.”
