Life had to go on without Nelson. Callie understood that she needed to settle down in Ylosea first; everything that followed would not be easy.
She went to the studio and found only a few employees at their desks, including Eliza and Jade. Callie was a bit surprised. “Why are there only a few of you here?”
The few people looked up in surprise, with Eliza being the most surprised. “Callie, you’re back.”
The last time they met felt like ages ago, as if a lifetime had passed.
Callie forced a smile. “I just got back. How have you been?”
During Reuben’s disappearance, she had been fully focused on finding him and had no idea about the current state of the studio.
Hearing this, the few people exchanged glances, looking somewhat troubled.
Callie pulled out a chair and sat down. “It’s okay, just tell me.”
“Several colleagues resigned a few days ago. The studio’s situation isn’t good. Didn’t Regan tell you?” Jade reported cautiously. “Now there are only four of us left in the studio, plus Belinda who is out negotiating a deal, making five.”
Callie recalled the bustling scene when the studio first opened and compared it to now. The studio was falling and most of the employees were leaving for a better future.
She gave a bitter smile. “I’m sorry, because of my issues, I’ve dragged all of you down.”
Unexpectedly, netizens had dug up all her personal information, and the studio was inevitably implicated. Regan hadn’t told her, fearing she would be upset.
Eliza immediately waved her hand. “Callie, don’t say that. When the studio was doing well, you and Regan never treated us poorly. Now it’s just a low point; it will get better someday.”
A warm feeling surged through Callie’s heart. She was very grateful that in this city which was lacking in the milk of human kindness, there were still people who supported her.
“I don’t want to force anyone. If the pressure is too much, you can leave at any time. If you’re still willing to believe in me, give me a chance, stay, and let’s work hard together.”
When Callie said this, she wasn’t confident. The current situation was indeed bleak.
Eliza was the first to stand up. “I’m willing.”
Jade was the second. “I’m willing too.”
“I’m willing, Miss Marsh.”
There were only four people, and their voices weren’t loud, but at this moment, their words were deafening. Callie nodded, sincerely grateful to everyone.
Regan was surprised to learn that she still wanted to stay at the studio. “You should stay by Nelson’s side now, help him through this difficult time, and don’t let others take advantage.”
Callie stood by the floor-to-ceiling window holding her phone. “If I stay by his side, it will only make things harder for him.”
After a long silence, Regan sighed. “I have many resources at hand now, but Ahmad is always watching, so I have few options to offer you.”
“I understand. Thank you.”
After hanging up, Callie received a project from Regan. She looked it over carefully; the destination was Kenker Hotel where the business partner was located. She needed to secure this deal.
She chose Eliza to go with her.
Before they left, Jade was very worried. “Callie, are you sure you don’t need me to come along?”
Callie raised an eyebrow. “Yes.”
As they drove away, she asked Eliza in the passenger seat, “Are you two together?”
Eliza’s face instantly turned red. “Is it that obvious?”
Callie smiled. “He almost had ‘worried about you’ written on his face.”
People in love are always sweet; they can’t hide their feelings-blatant and bold.
Upon arriving at Kenker Hotel, Callie entered discreetly but was still recognized.
