Chapter 749: Killing Callie is Like Taking My Life

Callie wanted to say something but stopped when she saw the man’s wet hair tips.
On the highway, the headlights shone ahead, but there was no one to meet them. Instead, a row of cars blocked the way-
Black vehicles parked neatly, appearing especially solemn and dignified under the rain.
Jaquan exhaled slowly, trying to reverse, but the way behind was also blocked.
Men in suits stood with their hands in front of them, lined up neatly, expressionless.
“Jaquan-”
A tall man wearing a mask got out of the car in the middle of the front row, standing quietly under a bodyguard’s umbrella.
It was Owen!
Callie recognized him.
Jaquan opened the car door but was held back by her worried grip on his sleeve.
He gently shook his head and got out of the car. His sharp brows looked even more heroic under the rain. He shouted, “Owen, please spare her!”
Owen, with his hands in his pockets, spoke clearly in the rainy night, “Jaquan, even you betray me.”
Jaquan held onto the car door, “This is not my intention.”
Sullivan anxiously said first, “Hand over that woman, and Owen won’t hold you accountable. Jaquan, don’t make a mistake!”
Jaquan just gritted his teeth, unwilling to relent.
Owen spoke slowly, “I have found out that the woman beside you is Nelson’s wife. You are too foolish. Is it worth giving up everything for her?”
“She is different, Owen! Killing her is like taking my life!”
“Jaquan!” Sullivan was anxious.
Jaquan straightened his back and faced the powerful man opposite him.
He was in a difficult position. Owen had helped him during his lowest point; forgetting that would be ungrateful.
Callie understood. She took a deep breath and got out of the car, shouting, “Owen, everyone in the underworld respects you. You must have a broad mind. Jaquan was deceived and lured by me. It wasn’t his intention. Please spare him!”
Jaquan called out softly, “Callie!”
But Owen seemed not to hear her and said to Jaquan, “When I first saw you, I knew you were a cold-blooded man. I didn’t expect you to fall for a woman. You disappoint me.”
“As long as you spare her, I will serve you faithfully!”
“In the past few years, you said the same thing. Now it seems untrustworthy.” Owen sneered coldly, “If you want her to leave, find your own way.”
After speaking, Owen turned his back.
The bodyguards stepped forward in unison, ready for action, shouting together, “Jaquan! Sorry!”
Callie quickly moved to Jaquan’s side, “What are they going to do?”
He pushed her behind him, “Owen’s rule is that you can leave if you survive under these men.”
Callie’s heart pounded with fear. There were at least ten or twenty people; he was alone. How could he possibly win?
Before she could react, the first wave of bodyguards dropped their umbrellas and drew knives, charging at Jaquan’s vital points. He moved swiftly to dodge and shielded Callie behind him.
Jaquan grabbed one man’s wrist and twisted it forcefully until he heard the bone crack. He kicked out, sending the man flying far away. But more attackers kept coming; he dodged and fought simultaneously.
In the rainy night, all that could be seen were men fighting fiercely.
Callie clung to Jaquan’s sleeve and cried in desperation, “Jaquan! I can’t leave!”
