Chapter 736: I Miss You Too

After a long silence, Callie repeated, “Nelson, are you there?”
“… Will you fall in love with Jaquan?” This was the first time Nelson asked such a question.
Callie was stunned. At the same time, she felt the loneliness and coldness from that man who seemed invincible. He actually had moments of fear.
“Why do you ask that?”
Her evasive answer made Nelson fall silent again. Even through the screen, she could feel the chill.
“Of course not, Nelson. Right now, all I think of is find Reuben.” She almost sighed.
“Then why did you have Kieran ask me things instead of asking yourself?”
He hit the nail on the head.
Callie was puzzled for a moment, then laughed. She hadn’t expected him to care about such things. “What, do you miss me? Mr. Oconnor.”
Nelson hung up the phone. Two minutes later, he sent her detailed information about Dragonstone, adding a sentence: Don’t act rashly unless necessary.
Callie looked at it for a while. It was full of Dragonstone’s illegal operations. On the surface, it looked glamorous and even very legitimate, but underneath, it was involved in sex trade and black market dealings, which were shocking.
No wonder Jaquan wanted to use Mike Mack’s hand to get rid of the goods.
She replied: I miss you too.
Callie couldn’t see it, but the man sitting in his office, surrounded by a low-pressure atmosphere, suddenly smiled when he saw this sentence.
To Charlotte, who had just walked in, that smile was as stunning as a thousand trees blossoming.
However, Nelson was sharp and retracted his smile when he saw who it was. “So early.”
Charlotte curved her lips. “Yes, during lunch break, I went out to buy some dessert. Would you like to share?”
It wasn’t work time yet, so it was considered personal time. She held a small piece of cake in her hand, and her charming smile left Nelson no reason to refuse.
Outside of work hours, they were supposed to be friends.
“You really love sweets.” Nelson observed Charlotte sitting on the sofa and suddenly remembered his previous suspicions about her because she had been eating birthday cake downstairs at the hotel.
Charlotte smiled and took a bite. “Yes, life used to be too bitter. I need sweets to balance it out.”
She spoke lightly as if it didn’t matter to her.
Nelson lowered his eyelids, making his expression unreadable.
“Nelson, does Mrs. Oconnor like sweets?” she suddenly asked.
Nelson looked up and saw her usual expression. “Not really.”
Charlotte seemed to understand and nodded, offering him some cake. “Do you want some?”
He didn’t really like sweets either and declined. “Did Marilyn give you any trouble after losing the project?”
Charlotte paused and shook her head. “No… but my father was very angry and gave several projects to my brother.”
Isaac.
Nelson’s fingers interlaced unconsciously in front of him. “Your brother has always been incompetent. Is your father confident in him?”
“I don’t understand, but there’s Regan. She’s very smart and willing to help Isaac with his work. My father appreciates her a lot lately.”
Nelson raised an eyebrow. “Regan?”
“Yes.” The small piece of cake in front of Charlotte was almost finished.
“It seems she’s been doing well at the Ellison family recently.”
“What do you mean?”
Her innocent look revealed no flaws. Nelson smiled slightly; it seemed that the Ellison family’s dirty secrets hadn’t reached her ears.
“Nothing.” He stood up. “If you love sweets so much, I’ll have our chef make some for you.”
“That would be wonderful.”
