Nelson leaned back gradually, seemingly sighing, “Yes, I care about you a lot.”
The heavy rain streaked across the car window. Outside, lights were bright, and an old man with a cane waited at the door.
“Otherwise, he wouldn’t be waiting for you to come home in this weather.”
Kieran got out of the car with an umbrella and opened the door. “Miss Ellison, we’re here.”
Charlotte then realized that they were at the Ellison family residence.
She tried to stand up, but her legs were weak. She stumbled lightly and fell into Nelson’s arms. The scene of them embracing was caught by Ahmad.
Nelson raised his eyes slightly, his tone deepened, “Get out of the car, your father must be worried.”
The vehicle sped away quickly, not caring about the rainy night.
“Mr. Oconnor, where are we going?” Kieran asked.
Nelson put his prayer beads back on. “Return to Paucaster Villa Complex.”
Half an hour later, the vehicle arrived.
The light in the master bedroom was on.
Nelson’s sleeve was slightly damp from the rain. He pushed open the door and saw a woman who had just finished showering, coming out of the bathroom. When she saw him, she immediately grabbed a pillow from the sofa and threw it at him.
Not satisfied with just the pillow, she grabbed a table lamp and hurled it.
Nelson didn’t dodge, his face remained calm.
Callie, exhausted from throwing things, leaned on a chair to catch her breath. Only then did he bend down to pick up the lamp and put it back in place.
“Finished venting?”
Callie turned away, not wanting to speak to him.
“Can you listen to me now?”
Callie tried to leave the master bedroom but was pulled back by Nelson.
“You’ve gone too far. Drinking Jaquan’s wine and sleeping with him, I haven’t even punished you yet.” He sat down and pulled her to sit as well.
“I didn’t sleep with him! Don’t slander me.” Callie was anxious.
Nelson lit another cigarette, his gaze on her was somber, filled with turmoil.
It was a look that saw through everything.
“… He made me drink. I just leaned on him.” Callie changed her tone, knowing she couldn’t lie.
“Why did you go to him?” Nelson took a deep drag, his fingers stained with the smell of tobacco.
“To find Reuben.”
“If the Oconnor family can’t find someone, there’s no use in you looking for him.”
It wasn’t Nelson being arrogant; it was the iron rule of Ylosea.
Somehow, Callie suddenly felt inferior to him.
“I didn’t know Shamar was hospitalized. If I had known, I wouldn’t have gone to find him.”
Nelson sneered, “It’s not entirely your fault. I only found out about it recently too.”
Callie looked wronged.
“I’ve met him a few times privately.” Nelson raised his hand and wiped away the water droplets from her hair on his hand.
“… Just once recently.”
His hand moved up to press on the tear mole at the corner of her eye. Callie instinctively let out a muffled hum. Every time they were deeply intimate, he liked to touch that tear mole.
It had almost become a habitual action.
“It seems you don’t really want to be Mrs. Oconnor.” Nelson applied more pressure. “Want to be Mrs. Scott?”
The more he spoke, the more outrageous it became. Callie pushed him away forcefully. “Nelson, is it that I don’t want to be, or do you have someone more suitable?”
Nelson was pushed away and quietly scrutinized her.
“Charlotte joined Oconnor Group. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“You know now, don’t you? And you’re still questioning me.”
Jaquan was right; whether she told or not, she would still be angry.
“You’ve fallen for her.” Callie couldn’t hold back her temper and tried to find evidence on him.
Nelson closed his eyes.
“You really have fallen for her!” Callie was desperate. She grabbed his hand and forced him to open his eyes.
She was so anxious that she lay on top of him, breathing heavily.
Nelson let out a muffled groan and stopped her in time. “Are you a seductress?”
“Answer me.”
