Charlotte was always cautious, speaking softly for fear of saying the wrong thing.
Nelson did not answer directly, “She doesn’t care about these things.”
Charlotte smiled, “She has a big heart, I know.”
At the end of the day, just before leaving work, Marilyn arrived. She went straight to the top floor and walked into Nelson’s office. “Nelson, I’m here to pick up my sister.”
Nelson looked up from his work and smiled lightly, “You are very attentive to your sister, coming personally despite your busy schedule.”
Marilyn wore a tight skirt today, showing off her long legs. Her smile had a hint of a leader’s demeanor.
“No choice, she’s the precious gem we finally found after all these years. I have to keep an eye on her. What if something happens?”
As she spoke, Charlotte came in with coffee and was startled to see Marilyn. “Marilyn? Why are you here?”
Marilyn smiled at her, “I’m here to pick you up from work.”
“I can go back by myself. You didn’t need to come all this way,” Charlotte hurriedly placed the coffee next to Nelson.
“It’s on the way, no trouble at all.” Marilyn half-sat on Nelson’s desk. “But, Maeve, I want an Americano. Could you get me a cup?”
Charlotte didn’t hesitate, “Sure.”
After she left, Nelson continued reviewing documents without looking up. “She is your sister. Know your limits.”
“I don’t understand,” Marilyn looked puzzled.
“I mean, although she has been away for more than ten years, she is still the eldest daughter of the Ellison family. It’s inappropriate for you to order her around like this,” Nelson said as he finished with the documents and set them aside.
“Oh, that’s what you meant,” Marilyn suddenly understood. “I forgot, but for the past ten years, this is what she has been doing.”
Nelson looked at her seriously and said word by word, “Not anymore.”
As they stood in silence, Charlotte returned with the coffee. “Marilyn, here’s your coffee.”
Growing up in different environments gave them different temperaments. Charlotte seemed especially cautious in front of Marilyn.
“Suddenly I don’t feel like drinking it. Sis, throw it away.”
Marilyn’s gaze was nearly provocative as she turned around.
Just as Charlotte was about to leave, Nelson suddenly spoke, “Put it down and leave.”
She obeyed but her eyes were visibly moist.
The office was left with just the two of them.
Nelson stood up, one hand resting on the desk as he looked down at Marilyn. He moved closer and lifted her chin with one hand. Their breaths mingled as Marilyn’s body stiffened and her ears turned red.
The man’s aura was overwhelming and easily stirred a woman’s desires.
“You…”
“In the past, I didn’t care if you made things difficult for her.” Nelson picked up the still-hot coffee with his other hand and brought it close to Marilyn’s lips, slowly pouring it into her mouth. “But now she is Maevelyn. You can’t act against her anymore.”
His eyes were exceptionally firm.
The coffee was too hot. Marilyn struggled and made sounds as she tried to close her mouth.
Nelson pinched her cheeks tightly, forcing her to open her mouth and poured the Americano into it.
“She has me behind her now. Do you understand?”
Marilyn’s mouth was burning hot, blisters forming inside. Her face turned red and when Nelson let go, she immediately covered her throat and spat out the coffee. But it was too late; her voice was gone, and her face contorted in pain.
“Nelson… Nelson…” Her voice came out hoarse and unpleasant.
Nelson watched coldly from the side.
Even if she didn’t understand, she had to understand.
