Callie frowned even more deeply; she couldn’t understand Nelson.
He released his hand from her waist, a gesture of letting go.
“The reason is, you know this person.”
Callie was incredulous. “I know? Who?”
She had only a few female friends in Ylosea, ones she could count on one hand. If it was someone she knew, she should have recognized them earlier.
“Charlotte.”
When Nelson said the name, his expression was blank, but a shadow of complexity and severity passed through his eyes.
Upon hearing this, Callie lost her balance and fell backward, hitting the back of her head on the seat with a loud thud.
Nelson immediately reached out to pull her back, rubbing her head gently. He said in a deep voice, “Callie.”
Callie endured the pain, utterly puzzled. How could it be Charlotte? Hadn’t Charlotte left Ylosea? How could she return and turn out to be the long-lost Maevelyn?
In a flash of realization, she suddenly understood. From the beginning, when they first met, Charlotte’s features had seemed somewhat familiar.
But it turned out she didn’t resemble Callie; she resembled Maevelyn. She was the real Maevelyn!
Past experiences made Callie connect the dots, sending chills down her spine. Yes, many details seemed to match…
Orphan… Maevelyn… Charlotte…
Even their names were so similar.
It felt like a punch to the back of her head as everything became clear. Her head throbbed painfully. “Is it confirmed?”
Nelson gazed at her. “It’s confirmed. The DNA matches, and some details align.”
Callie suddenly understood why Nelson had insisted on doing a separate DNA test and why he hadn’t mentioned it at first.
No wonder Jaquan didn’t say anything either!
“How was she discovered?”
Charlotte had been in Ylosea for so long without being found, yet she was discovered after leaving Ylosea.
Nelson recalled his initial suspicions and now felt a twinge of regret. “Sienna went to Ylosea to invite a monk to Ipdite Temple and happened to see Charlotte. She felt an instant connection.”
In fact, Sienna’s trip to Ylosea had been personally arranged by Anthony.
But no one had expected it to hit the mark.

Callie’s head hurt even more, and her heart ached slightly without knowing why.
“I heard Charlotte’s family situation wasn’t good. Now that she’s been reunited with her family, it’s a wish fulfilled.”
Nelson simply gazed at her. “Are you unhappy?”
Callie gave a bitter smile. “Not at all,” she said as she leaned closer. “What about you? Have you fulfilled your wish?”
To be honest, when they couldn’t find Maevelyn before, Nelson was always preoccupied. Now that they had found her, he didn’t feel much joy, even though their conversations confirmed she was indeed Maevelyn.
Instead, he felt a sense of melancholy.
Nelson lifted her long hair and gently touched the broken part. “You are my wish.”
Callie’s heart trembled.
Even after being with him for so long, she still felt moved.
She was somewhat dazed. “If-I’m just saying if-Charlotte wants to take you away from me?”
The man laughed. “I’m not an object that can be taken away.”
Callie wrapped her arms around his neck, half-jokingly. “What if? What if she wants you? Would you give in?”
“Am I that unreliable?” He used a statement rather than a question.
Callie’s face turned red with embarrassment, unsure how to respond.
So he held her waist tightly again and let out a soft sigh. “I am yours.”
