Chapter 682: Reunion with an Old Friend

Callie didn’t sleep well that night.
Early the next morning, she heard the sound of an engine and immediately opened her eyes. She quickly got dressed, put on a hat and sunglasses, and left Paucaster Villa to catch a taxi.
The process was the same as before, but this time the driver wasn’t chatty.
During the ride, Callie checked her phone for today’s headlines. There was nothing significant, just some trivial New Year specials.
Just as Jaquan had said, there was no report on the Scott Group’s engineering issues.
However, there was also no news about Maevelyn returning to the Ellison family. This was surprising since it was big news, and Ahmad and Sienna would likely be thrilled and eager to publicize it. Why hadn’t anything come out?
The silence made Callie suspicious.
Nelson arrived at Bridger’s territory. Club Paradise was particularly quiet during the day, with hardly anyone there except for the staff.
The car parked at a distance. Callie took off her sunglasses and saw Nelson waiting outside instead of going in immediately. Shortly after, another car arrived, and out came the grandfather of the Oconnor family!
He walked with difficulty and needed assistance. Nelson took over from the servant and led him into Club Paradise.
Callie frowned even more. She couldn’t understand it. The grandfather was ill and rarely went out due to his age. Why had he come here specifically to meet Nelson?
Nelson chose this place for its privacy. Who were they meeting?
Callie didn’t want to delve further. Speculating about her husband was disheartening, but she had no choice at this point.
A waiter recognized her: “Mrs. Oconnor? You…”
She smiled and gestured for silence. “I’m not here as Mrs. Oconnor today. I’m here to meet a client. Can you arrange something for me?”
The waiter nodded, “Sure.”
While waiting, Callie worried about running into someone she knew or being discovered by Nelson, so she pulled her hat down low.
At that moment, she glanced up and locked eyes with a woman coming down the stairs. The woman’s face was unremarkable, but she had a striking figure and wore a flamboyant red cheongsam.
“Mollie?” Callie exclaimed.
Mollie smiled and approached. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”
The waiter addressed Mollie respectfully as the boss’s wife.
Callie smiled faintly. “Happy New Year. It seems you’re well-established here.”
Mollie took the sign from the waiter, understanding Callie’s request instantly. “Follow me.”
“It’s just making a living under a man’s watchful eye. Nothing special.”
Mollie led her down a corridor lined with lush plants, her silhouette swaying gracefully.
Callie glanced around, surprised by the scenery behind Club Paradise.
“This is a private space reserved for distinguished guests. Not just anyone can enter, not even with money,” Mollie explained, looking up at the splendid view.
“It seems I’m a distinguished guest.”
Mollie opened a room, revealing an exquisitely furnished and spacious interior. “You’ll be very productive here.”
She had arranged everything well, but Callie pressed her lips together. “Sorry, Mollie, I’m not here to meet a client today.”
Mollie raised an eyebrow and smiled. “If it were just to meet a client, I wouldn’t have brought you here.”
Callie was puzzled.
