“Nelson, we didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement. If I divorce you, how much money can I get?” Callie cupped her face, thinking leisurely.
During the New Year, Nelson was amused by her, “You’re quite calculating, Callie.”
She looked at him with pitiful eyes.
“The Oconnor Group’s legal team never makes a loss. You can ask them.”
“That’s right, you have a legal team.” They certainly wouldn’t let her take a penny.
“You seem very disappointed. What, do you want a divorce?” Nelson sealed her lips with a kiss, as if he couldn’t get enough.
Callie was kissed until she was out of breath and shook her head repeatedly.
In that brief moment, Nelson suddenly lost his focus for a second. He thought of the divorce agreement he had signed with Reuben…
Hopefully, that agreement would never need to be brought out.
The day passed peacefully. The couple took Reuben to the old mansion to spend the New Year with Grandpa.
Grandpa still had some temper on his face, but with so many people together, it was lively, and his temper soon disappeared.
After the New Year’s Eve dinner, Callie ran to the yard to play with fireworks. Nelson accompanied her, watching her as if she were his own daughter.
Under the blooming fireworks, Nelson suddenly said, “We can’t have a daughter in the future.”
Callie was puzzled, “Why? Are you biased towards boys?”
“If she looks too much like you, I wouldn’t bear marrying her off.” In just a few words, he was already talking about more than twenty years later.
Callie blushed and stood on tiptoe to remove the fireworks debris from his head.
Nelson heard the sound of his heartbeat and immediately bent down to kiss her lips.
The kiss under the fireworks lasted a long time. Finally, Callie was out of breath and buried her head in his chest, hearing his magnetic voice say in her ear, “Callie, our third year is coming.”
Unknowingly, two years had already passed.
Callie’s heart was also pounding.
At that moment, Nelson’s phone suddenly rang in his suit pants. She took it out for him and saw it was an unfamiliar number.
Nelson looked down at it. After three seconds, he reached out to answer it.
He turned sideways. Callie didn’t understand and felt he seemed to be under some psychological pressure.
The person on the other end said something unknown. Nelson didn’t respond for a long time. After a moment, he finally said softly, “I understand.”
Callie immediately stepped forward and asked worriedly, “What’s wrong?”
It was a very strange look, with too many mixed emotions that were hard to distinguish.
Nelson looked at Callie almost longingly and forced a smile, “There’s something urgent at the company that needs handling. Tonight, you might have to sleep alone.”
Hearing this, Callie breathed a sigh of relief. She thought something serious had happened. “Alright.”
Nelson bent down to give her a tight hug, “Wait for me to come back.”
“Be careful on the road.”
The man entered the old mansion and explained to the two elders watching the Spring Festival Gala. He walked out some distance and looked back at Callie.
She stood under the fireworks, warm and beautiful.
She waved at him.
Only then did Nelson get into the car.
For some reason, Callie felt he was acting strange but couldn’t pinpoint what was strange about it.
She thought maybe she was overthinking it.
After Nelson left, Callie watched TV with the elders for a while. At that moment, her phone suddenly rang. It was Regan.
She didn’t think much of it. “Happy New Year, Regan.”
Regan quickly said in a low voice, “Something happened!”
