Two hours later, Sammy left the hotel.
With him gone, Nelson stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down. Anthony walked in. “Mr. Oconnor, will Sammy do as you said?”
“His only hope now is to follow my instructions.”
“He’s lucky, getting a six-month collaboration opportunity with Oconnor Group just like that.”
“If we didn’t give it to him, he wouldn’t even have the means to confront Jamir.” Nelson put down his wine glass. “Want to make a bet?”
“On what?”
“Within these six months, Jamir will be tied up by Sammy, completely overwhelmed.”
Imagining the scenario, Nelson couldn’t help but curl his lips into a malicious smile.
His gaze swept downward just as Sammy exited the hotel and got into his car. He didn’t drive off immediately, likely verifying some things.
But at that moment, Nelson’s smile froze. He saw a petite figure in a white long dress sitting alone in an outdoor restaurant with a small cake in front of her. She clasped her hands together, making a wish.
Even without seeing her face clearly, Nelson recognized her-it was Charlotte.
Was today her birthday?
“Do we still have Charlotte’s information?” he asked in a deep voice.
Anthony was puzzled but quickly handed it over. “We do.”
Nelson glanced at it and saw the birthdate. It was today.
Today was Charlotte’s birthday.
She made her wish and seemed much happier. She cut the cake and slowly savored it.
Nelson watched her with a complex expression until she finished the cake and got up to leave.
How could her birthday be today…
“Does Charlotte know I’m staying here?” Nelson asked cautiously.
“She has no reason to know. Our itinerary is very secret.”
In an instant, Nelson recalled various past events, and a ridiculous thought struck him like lightning.
Maeve’s birthday was also today…
“Return to Ylosea tomorrow.”
Mrs. Gamble soon sent a message, “Isaac has already arrived in Ylosea.”
Callie wondered what Isaac’s first action would be upon his return… Would he go to the hospital?
She didn’t have to guess for long because news quickly broke that Isaac was already assisting Marilyn with the Ellison family affairs, dispelling rumors of his marginalization.
Helping Marilyn first? Callie was puzzled.
Reuben was bored at Paucaster Villa, so Callie thought of taking him to visit their grandfather.
It had been a long time since they last saw him.
The two had become old friends of sorts. Callie let them chat while she took the opportunity to go for a walk.
At the corner, she hesitated for a moment before choosing the path to Ipdite Temple.
Sienna probably wasn’t here now; she seemed very busy and had stayed with the Ellison family for quite some time.
Callie stepped into the temple. A monk greeted her with “Amitabha.”
She nodded in acknowledgment. Every time she came here, she felt at peace.
Wearing a hat, she stood there for a while. Just as she was about to turn and leave, a familiar figure suddenly came into view.
It was Sienna, dressed in plain clothes, supported by a man wearing a hat. They were coming out of the main hall, likely having just finished their prayers.
Callie wanted to hide but it was too late.
They faced her directly, almost no place to escape.
Only then did Callie see clearly that the man wearing the hat was Isaac!
Days of hiding had made him more formidable, his eyes piercing and intense.
