Anthony took out a card. “I need a pair of the latest high heels.”
He returned to the car with the shoes, feeling anxious. “Sorry, Mr. Oconnor, I truly didn’t know Charlotte was making a living here.”
She had indeed been sent back to Ylosea, but he hadn’t expected her to be on Jamir’s turf.
Nelson sat in the back seat with a stern expression, a sign of displeasure. “Was today’s matter noticed by any informants?”
“It shouldn’t have been,” Anthony replied. “I’ll investigate thoroughly once we return to see if there’s any connection to Jamir.”
Charlotte had always been Jaquan’s informant and involved in many matters, not an ordinary person. Now working on Jamir’s turf, it was hard not to be suspicious.
“Do it quickly.”
The car started, and Nelson glanced up inadvertently, seeing Charlotte chasing after them from the mall. However, she was too late and could only stand by the roadside watching Nelson’s car leave.
There seemed to be a hint of disappointment on her face.
Nelson looked away.
The next day, Callie woke up to see a reply from the man, her face flushing for a moment.
But Regan still hadn’t responded to her message.
Callie took a deep breath. She couldn’t trouble Jaquan anymore. She thought for a moment and called Mrs. Gamble. “Are you free today?”
It was the same sky garden as before. Callie and Mrs. Gamble sat across from each other, the latter holding her coffee elegantly. “Mrs. Oconnor, you usually don’t seek me out unless there’s something important. What’s the matter this time?”
Callie smiled. “Just joking, I’m here to deliver some news to you, Mrs. Gamble.”
“What news?”
“The Northside project seems to be managed by Chief Gamble, right?” Callie was in the industry and quickly got wind of many things. “There’s an issue with the project.”
She handed over some documents under Mrs. Gamble’s surprised gaze. “Someone in quality inspection wants to take down Chief Gamble.”
Mrs. Gamble hurriedly opened the documents and was shocked after reading them. “If this gets investigated later, he’s done for.”
Callie smiled. “Now that you know the source of the problem, handle it well when you get back, and there won’t be any issues.”
Mrs. Gamble smiled along. “Thank you, Mrs. Oconnor.”
Callie put down her coffee, the sound of porcelain meeting the table was pleasant.
“I also want to ask you for a favor.”
“… What is it?”
“Help me find out the exact time Isaac from the Ellison family returns to Ylosea. It shouldn’t be difficult for you.”
As someone who mingled in high society circles, gathering information was easy for her.
Mrs. Gamble seemed to understand the gist of it and raised an eyebrow. “It seems Mrs. Oconnor and Mr. Oconnor are now on the same side.”
Callie just smiled without revealing who she was doing this for.
Isaac’s return to Ylosea had both advantages and disadvantages. For Nelson, there were many angles to exploit, but for Regan, it would be a disaster.
Callie’s heart was torn with worry about Regan’s situation.
If she found a safe place to stay… that would be good.
Ylosea.
The first ray of morning sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows as a man stood before the mirror adjusting his attire while listening to Anthony’s report.
“Today’s work schedule is as follows.” Anthony closed the file and then said, “I’ve checked; Charlotte working at S&A has nothing to do with Jamir. The two don’t know each other and have never crossed paths. Yesterday was a coincidence.”
Nelson looked at himself in the mirror. “Keep someone watching her; I want to see what happens next.”
“Yes.”
