Chapter 637: Marriage is Not Bad

“That’s not acceptable…” Callie immediately protested, “Playing and work are two different things.”
“You’re quite picky.” Nelson suddenly bent down, picked her up, and tossed her onto the soft bed. He leaned over and whispered, “When we have time, I’ll definitely take you.”
The man was too close, making Callie blush. She avoided his intense gaze and softly murmured in agreement.
The morning sunlight filtered through the building, landing on the face of the woman drinking milk in the back seat of the car, her fair skin tinged with a bit of red.
She hadn’t slept enough and was dozing off while drinking milk.
“Mr. Oconnor, these are Ahmad’s medical records.” Anthony reported from the back seat.
Nelson took the documents and glanced through them quickly. “Has Marilyn or the investment bank’s director made any moves?”
“Not detected yet. I guess the investment bank is also afraid of trouble and doesn’t dare to cooperate with her without permission,” Anthony said. “There is a balance between the old employer and the new one. I think we can trust them for now.”
Nelson signed various contracts in front of him and sneered at Anthony’s words, “What if the new employer is strong enough?”
“It’s hard to say.”
“Not everyone has a conscience.”
At this point, Callie opened her eyes and shook the milk bottle in her hand. “I can’t finish it, Nelson.”
The man finally looked up from his work. He took the bottle and naturally finished the remaining milk.
Anthony was a bit taken aback. He had started working from the secretary’s office and knew Nelson’s habits and preferences well. Nelson used to drink only American-style beverages, but now he was drinking milk…
Nelson noticed Anthony’s gaze and raised an eyebrow. “Why are you looking at me?”
Anthony awkwardly replied, “Nothing… just thinking that married men really do change.”
Nelson wasn’t angry at the teasing. He glanced at Callie, who had resumed her nap, and smiled faintly. “Marriage is not bad; you should try it.”
Anthony’s legs went weak immediately. “I don’t have Mr. Oconnor’s good fortune; I don’t even have a girlfriend.”
“You can start looking. If you need anything, just let me know.”
The sound of the pen scratching on paper was soft and continuous. Nelson, bathed in sunlight, looked completely relaxed.
Upon arriving at the hospital, they found Ahmad’s floor tightly guarded by bodyguards, with strict entry and exit controls, indicating that news of his illness was being closely guarded.
Outside the ward, it became clear that this strict control was ineffective.
“Mr. Ellison, I think we need to reconsider. This industry can’t be handed over to Miss Ellison so quickly.”
Voices came from inside the ward where several middle-aged men who looked like shareholders were sitting by Ahmad’s bed, incessantly advising him.
Sienna stood to one side and said, “I understand now. You all came early in the morning just to discuss these trivial matters. Do you think Marilyn is not capable?”
Ahmad lay on the bed with his eyes closed, clearly not asleep.
“Sienna, we don’t mean that. We just think Marilyn is still young and too impulsive to take on such a big responsibility.”
“Since Mr. Ellison has already chosen her, it proves she is worthy. You directors are overstepping,” Sienna said with a faint smile, defending Marilyn.
At that moment, a few people emerged from the elevator. Jaquan and Marilyn led the group and walked over together. They saw Nelson and Callie waiting outside but were not surprised.
“Nelson, you arrived even earlier than I did.”
