Nelson helped her place the suitcase, “This is the medicinal pool. If you want to soak in the hot springs, you can do it here. It’s good for your health. Last time at Sky Pavilion, you didn’t get enough, did you?”
He remembered.
Later, Anthony arranged dinner within the estate, featuring Ylosea’s most classic dishes. Nelson attended in casual attire, looking elegant and charming. It was the first time everyone saw him outside of work, less stern, with a hint of youthful charm.
Callie, on the other hand, had put on beautiful makeup. It was at moments like these that she became aware of her responsibilities as Mrs. Oconnor.
During the meal, Nelson and Callie toasted everyone, simply saying, “Enjoy yourselves.”
Callie slightly bowed as she clinked glasses with them, exuding warmth and friendliness.
Next door to this reception, Marilyn was entertaining clients. Watching the scene, she clenched her hands tightly, feeling a surge of jealousy.
Someone who had drunk too much dared to tease Callie, “Is Mr. Oconnor as strict at home as he is at the company? Mrs. Oconnor, are you afraid every day?”
Callie glanced at the man beside her. He nonchalantly turned his wine glass. She hesitated for a moment and then chose to shake her head.
Nelson stopped what he was doing and pinched her cheek, “Why so reluctant? I’m not like that.”
“You’re often very stern.”
“I said I’m not.”
Callie smiled wryly, “See? Just like now.”
Nelson was momentarily speechless.
To everyone else, it was clear they were showing affection! It was overwhelmingly sweet.
Marilyn took a deep breath, picked up her wine glass, and walked over with a smile, “Mrs. Oconnor, I toast to you. I wasn’t here when you and Nelson got married. Consider this a belated toast.”
Callie gazed at her intently.
Her words were well-chosen; with so many people present, not drinking was not an option.
“Thank you.”
As Callie raised her glass to her lips, Nelson gently took it from her hand with a dazzling smile, “My wife can’t drink. I’ll drink for her if you don’t mind.”
It was actually a statement.
Marilyn froze immediately. With Nelson’s words, she couldn’t say no.
“Of course.”
Nelson then drank it all in one go. His jawline was smooth and very handsome as he tilted his head back.
For some reason, after he finished drinking, everyone applauded and cheered, “How lucky Mrs. Oconnor is…”
A smile blossomed on Callie’s face, accompanied by a bit of shy embarrassment. Nelson looked at her tenderly. Standing together, they were a perfect match.
Marilyn gripped her glass so tightly she almost crushed it.
At least at that moment, Callie felt happiness.
They dined for a long time. Marilyn left early under the pretense of feeling unwell, making Callie’s meal much more comfortable.
Nelson was unusually approachable that night. No one felt like leaving for other activities. They toasted him repeatedly with kind words, and he happily obliged.
At the table, they discussed business topics that Callie couldn’t understand. Occasionally, she would listen to Nelson’s magnetic voice and drift into a daze, feeling sleepy.
Not wanting to dampen everyone’s spirits, she secretly poured champagne into her glass and sipped it bit by bit to stay awake.
She obediently ate whatever he served her until she couldn’t eat anymore. Pitifully tugging at his sleeve, she whispered, “Nelson, I can’t eat anymore.”
