Nelson helped her up, holding her hand tightly. “You can’t create good art at home, so why not go out for a walk?”
He led her downstairs. On the last step, Callie suddenly stopped, a faint look of panic in her eyes, though she masked it well.
“I don’t feel well.”
Nelson stood a step below her, his height still towering. He knew she was lying, and the more she resisted, the more determined he became. “Callie.”
A car was ready outside, along with some people. It was clear he had prepared everything in advance.
“Your identity… someone might take pictures,” Callie finally raised a practical concern.
Nelson didn’t respond to her question. Losing patience, he released her hand, bent down, and lifted her up directly. He kicked open the door and walked out of Paucaster Villa.
He opened the car door and got in, all in one smooth motion.
Last night, she had been tormented by this beastly man to the point of exhaustion. Now she had no strength to resist.
The car sped off like an arrow, followed by dozens of black cars maintaining a safe distance.
The wheels kicked up fallen leaves.
There was no escape. Callie could only worry about one thing now: what to do with the slippers on her feet.
Nelson had anticipated this and had someone pass over a pair of shoes that Callie liked. He personally bent down to put them on for her.
Callie was angry and uncooperative while putting on the shoes, wriggling like an eel. Nelson initially kept his patience but eventually slapped her foot hard. “Stop moving!”
The slap was merciless and stung painfully. Callie didn’t need to look to know her foot was red.
She glared at him with teary eyes. “Nelson!”
She looked at him with resentment, her face pale.
Nelson wasn’t angry. He wiped away her tears with his thumb. “If you really feel unwell, I’ll have Ben on standby.”
Callie fell silent.
The man’s embrace was warm, but she felt cold all over.
Why did Nelson suddenly want to take her back to school? Did he know something?
It was the school anniversary, and the gates of Ylosea University were crowded. Even Nelson’s car struggled to move forward.
Callie watched the young, beautiful boys and girls outside. Their faces were filled with the same kind of hope she once had, believing their futures would be bright and promising.
The car finally stopped.
Outside was the faculty office building.
Anthony opened the car door. Callie was well hidden in Nelson’s arms as they quickly walked to an office door.
He knocked.
Inside sat an elderly man with graying hair, writing something with an elegant posture and wearing reading glasses.
Hearing the knock, he looked up and smiled. “Nelson.”
Callie stood there dazed. It had been years since she last saw him, and Professor had aged so much.
This was her mentor from school who had always treated her well.
Professor looked at Callie for a few seconds, tears welling up in his eyes. He reached out to hold her hand. “It’s really you, girl. You haven’t come to see me for so long. I miss you.”
Callie’s breath quickened. She didn’t know what came to mind but forced a bitter smile. “I’ve been busy with work.”
“Very busy indeed. I heard you joined Oconnor Group but didn’t expect you to become Mrs. Oconnor,” Professor said cheerfully.
Callie glanced at Nelson. “You know each other?”
“Professor is a friend of my mentor.”
“Nelson is outstanding; his mentor often bragged about him.”
Callie was surprised. “You also studied at Ylosea University?”
“For a year, then I went abroad to continue my studies.”
It made sense, after all.
