Chapter 599: My Wife Doesn’t Like It

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2025-2-7

Charlotte’s eyes darkened as she placed her wine glass on the table, clearly refusing.
Bridger’s demeanor instantly turned hostile. He had never been refused before and glared at her with such intensity that Charlotte felt he might smash something at any moment.
Bridger tilted his head slightly and exchanged a glance with Nelson before turning back with a menacing expression. “Do you know who I am?”
She knew all too well. The two men in this room were not people she could afford to offend. If she couldn’t get out of this situation, it would be over for her.
Her gaze moved past Bridger and met Nelson’s lazy eyes, filled with a silent plea.
Anthony entered the room and whispered something in Nelson’s ear. Nelson slightly turned his head, his eyes darkening.
Just as Bridger was about to explode, Nelson finally spoke, “Alright, don’t make things difficult for the young lady.”
Charlotte’s eyes lit up.
Bridger thought he had misheard and, forgetting his anger, looked at Nelson in disbelief. “What did you say?”
Wasn’t it Nelson who wanted him to make things difficult?
Nelson, calm and indifferent, glanced at the flustered woman and stood up to leave. “I don’t want to see blood.”
Anthony nodded to Bridger and quickly followed Nelson.
Bridger took another look at Charlotte, still in shock. He understood that this woman would not be staying tonight.
Charlotte caught up with Nelson in the hallway. He was holding his suit jacket, looking unsurprised to see her.
Charlotte smiled brightly. “Mr. Oconnor, you don’t suspect me anymore?”
He didn’t stop walking, his expression indifferent. “I made things difficult for you, yet you’re still happy.”
“As long as the misunderstanding is cleared up. If Mrs. Oconnor needs me to explain, I can do that.”
Nelson raised an eyebrow. Anthony had just discovered that the number sending messages to Callie came from Ylosea.
If Charlotte had done it deliberately, she wouldn’t have left such an obvious trail. But now it had been traced.
As they exited the nightclub, a cold wind blew, causing Charlotte to shiver in her dress, her long legs exposed, looking both alluring and pitiful.
Nelson took in the scene and frowned. “If you get a chance to leave Corey, take it.”
Charlotte gave a bitter smile. She had no choice but to respond, “Thank you, Mr. Oconnor… If we ever meet again,” she paused and winked playfully, “I’ll buy you a drink.”
Despite her grievances, she was still thanking him.
Nelson’s lips curved slightly in an unreadable smile. “No need. My wife doesn’t like it.”
Charlotte hesitated before bowing slightly and turning to leave, her straight back revealing nothing of her thoughts.
Nelson stood with his hands behind his back, watching the girl blend into the crowd. In the dark night, her silhouette appeared delicate and lonely as the wind blew.
Anthony also looked on. “Mr. Oconnor, Miss Charlotte seems quite proud and doesn’t look like a scheming woman.”
“And you understand women now?” Nelson sneered. “Did you get the complete surveillance footage?”
“Yes, we did. The hotel said the surveillance was down once, but I sent someone to Afupshire overnight to fix it.”
Nelson breathed a sigh of relief. With complete surveillance footage, they could prove innocence, and Callie wouldn’t be upset.
Nelson smiled slightly. “Head back to Paucaster Villa.”
He paused for a moment. “Take care of Azure Ocean Villa.”
Anthony was taken aback. “Sell it?”
“Yes.”
Kieran quickly drove back to Paucaster Villa, but the servant said, “Madam went out and hasn’t returned yet.”
Nelson’s face darkened immediately. “Where did she go?”
