Mikayla hesitated, then sighed and turned away.
The servant was puzzled. “Mr. Scott jumped by himself. How can they blame you?”
Callie couldn’t explain it, but she felt indebted to Jaquan.
After waiting in the lounge for twenty minutes, Callie’s phone beeped. She almost jumped in fright.
The servant handed her the phone. “Madam, it’s a message.”
Callie shivered, feeling a cold chill down her spine as if a venomous snake was licking her.
She took the phone and slowly unlocked it. It was from the same unknown number as before. Below her previous message, “What do you want?” was a video.
A fifteen-second video.
Callie couldn’t brace up herself to open it.
She took a deep breath, trying to control her trembling, and moved to the side before playing it.
The video was dark but clear enough. A woman placed a glass of water on a bedside table. As she turned to leave, a man suddenly sat up and forcefully pinned her down, kissing and touching her. The woman moaned.
All of this was done smoothly.
This was the origin of that photo.
Callie’s heart felt like it was being stabbed. She could barely hold onto her phone.
She had had sex with that man enough times, so that scene looked very familiar.
So it was all true?
“Mr. Oconnor…” The servant’s voice broke.
Callie’s back stiffened. She slowly turned and saw the man she had been thinking about.
Nelson had just come from a meeting, dressed in a suit. His unshaven stubble made him look even more mature and handsome, but his expression was indescribably grim.
He looked Callie over, drenched and pitiful like the most delicate flower on a branch.
Jaquan had seen her like this too.
A wave of bitterness surged within him.
Callie watched him approach, her emotions in turmoil. The guilt she felt vanished after seeing that video.
He said he had nothing to hide from her.
But the video couldn’t lie.
Suddenly, the servant screamed. She saw dark red stains on Callie’s clothes. “Madam, you’re bleeding…”
Callie looked down but felt no pain. She realized what it was and closed her eyes.
At that moment, her wrist was grabbed. Callie looked up to see Nelson’s cold eyes. He held her firmly, silently took off his coat, and tied it around her waist.
He knew what the red stains meant.
Callie didn’t feel touched. It was hard to imagine he had an affair with someone else.
She shook off his hand. “Thanks for your concern, but I can walk myself.”
Her tone angered Nelson. As she took a step forward, he scooped her up, causing her to lose balance. Nelson’s anger flared. “Move again, and I’ll throw you into the water for the night.”
He was truly angry.
Callie felt numb. Shouldn’t she be the one who was angry?
The servant dared not speak under Nelson’s glare.
Nelson took Callie straight back to Paucaster Villa.
Kieran drove nervously.
Callie sat in the corner, deliberately keeping her distance from Nelson. She didn’t want to talk or look at him.
Nelson’s face was stormy, tension filling the air.
Back at Paucaster Villa, Nancy was shocked to see Callie’s disheveled state. “What happened to you, dear?”
