Jaquan was drenched, his hair dripping with water. He swam up to her, grabbed her hand, and pulled her up. “Are you okay?”
Callie never expected him to show up.
The area was chaotic, with professionals jumping in to rescue Iyana.
Jaquan’s eyes were wet, but the emotions in them were intense, making Callie unable to respond for a moment.
“… I’m fine.”
Jaquan pulled Callie to the shore. A servant immediately handed her a towel and wrapped it around her. “Madam, are you alright? Are you uncomfortable?”
Callie shivered from the cold, tightened the towel around her, and looked up timidly. “Why are you here?”
Jaquan was drying his hair with a towel, his gaze now calm. “I saw it on my way here. Callie, why do I always find you in trouble? Don’t you know how to protect yourself?”
There was a hint of anger in his words.
Callie lowered her head, pretending to dry her hair. She didn’t know how to explain her purpose for being there to Jaquan.
Iyana, who had swallowed water, was finally resuscitated. She immediately looked at Callie with undisguised hatred in her eyes.
Then she saw Jaquan and couldn’t hide her surprise.
Why is he here…
“Mr. Scott…” The director approached, unsure of what to say.
The key issue was that he didn’t know how a simple shoot could alarm Jaquan.
“Is this how you treat your actors?” Jaquan asked coldly.
“This… It was indeed our oversight.”
Onlookers were curious. They knew Iyana was one of Jaquan’s ex-girlfriends, but he had saved Callie first!
More importantly, he was already married, and Mrs. Scott was the daughter of the Ellison family.
This situation seemed quite intriguing…
Jaquan knew the current situation was hard to resolve. He casually threw away the towel and said to Callie, “I’ll inform him.”
Callie immediately understood what he meant and opened her mouth. “Jaquan.”
He looked down.
She shook her head with difficulty. “I know it’s hard for you, but I can’t let him know…”
If Nelson found out she came to Scott Group, he would definitely investigate thoroughly, but she couldn’t explain it now.
Jaquan listened and smiled bitterly as he bent down to look her in the eye. “You know it’s hard for me, yet you still ask this of me. Don’t you feel sorry for me?”
He had long known that he held no significant place in her heart, but hearing this still hurt.
Callie couldn’t insist further and fell silent, her hair dripping with water.
Her vulnerable and soft appearance made Jaquan’s heart ache, but he steeled himself. “News about a newlywed jumping into the water for Mrs. Oconnor isn’t pleasant. Don’t blame me.”
Callie understood and began to regret coming in the first place. Iyana who was so naive was clearly the person who sent the photos.
Jaquan took long strides past Iyana, who was sitting on the ground, and gave her a sidelong glance. “Come with me.”
Iyana shivered. She had harmed Callie several times; Jaquan wouldn’t let her off…
In the Scott Group’s lounge, Mikayla brought a set of clean clothes and hesitated before leaving. “Miss Marsh, you’ve put Mr. Scott in a difficult position today.”
“I know. Please apologize to him for me.” Callie was sincere. “If Marilyn needs any explanation from me, don’t hesitate to ask.”
