“Mrs. Scott, by the way, Kayden is my young master! May I have a word with you?”
Hearing Kayden’s name, Georgia immediately perked up. As expected, anyone who called her Mrs. Scott was undoubtedly one of Kayden’s men. Deep down, she already knew. Whenever she was in trouble, Kayden would always appear.
Even if he didn’t show up in person, he would send someone. Not once had she encountered danger without one of his people stepping in to save her.
How could she not think of him?
As the thought crossed her mind, she couldn’t help but picture Kayden’s face-his cold arrogance and his high-and-mighty demeanor. Yet, she regretted it now. She regretted that Kayden had regained his memory.
If only time could stop at that moment.
She had been thinking about it a lot lately. If only Kayden were still that fool, everything would be perfect. He would stay by her side every day. At least he would stay.
When a woman falls for a man, her thoughts become consumed, day and night.
Especially a man like Kayden. Someone so exceptional-how could she not think of him? Even if they had no contact, she would still think of him.
“Where is Kayden? Did he ask you to come to me?” Georgia lowered her head and asked.
The elderly man bowed slightly. “Yes, the young master sent me to find you. Please, Mrs. Scott.”
Georgia studied the man’s kind expression. He didn’t seem like a bad person, so she followed him.
Soon, they arrived at a luxurious extended Lincoln limousine.
The interior was extravagantly decorated, far surpassing even the finest hotels in opulence.
“Mrs. Scott, please have a seat.” Billy gestured politely as he poured her tea.
Georgia nodded and sat down. “Why did Kayden send you? Couldn’t he just call me himself?”
Billy chuckled lightly and placed the tea in front of her. “Mrs. Scott, some matters are difficult for the young master to say directly, so he asked me to speak with you instead.”
Georgia snorted and pouted. “What could be so hard for him to tell me? Does he need someone to deliver messages for him now?”
Despite her words, her heart felt sweet. As she spoke, a smile of happiness spread across her face. In her mind, whatever message Kayden had for her was surely something joyful.
Billy noticed the expression on her face and smiled faintly. “Mrs. Scott, what I’m about to say may affect your emotions. I hope you can manage your feelings.”
“It’s fine. Go ahead.” Georgia picked up the teacup and took a small sip.
“First, allow me to introduce myself and explain the young master’s background. I am the butler of the Vernon Scott family. Most people call me Billy, and you may do the same. The Scott family is one of the Four Great Families of Seclela, representing immense wealth. The Scott family controls the most powerful business and industrial chains in the eastern region of Seclela. To describe us as ‘wealthy beyond measure’ is no exaggeration.”
“Fifteen years ago, the young master left the Scott family and joined the battlefield. There, he established an unparalleled reputation and earned countless honors, bringing immense prestige to the Scott family.
“Undoubtedly, he is the first choice to inherit the family’s legacy. Therefore, the family head named him the young master and heir to the Scott family.”
Billy paused and took a sip of tea.
Georgia blinked in surprise. “Kayden has such a background? He only told me he was a commander on the battlefield. He never mentioned being the heir to the eastern Scott family. This is the first I’m hearing of it.”
“No wonder… No wonder he always had this air about him, different from everyone else. Turns out he’s a young master.”
Billy let out a cold laugh. “As the heir of a prominent family, there is a strict rule in the Scott family: marriages must be arranged with families of equal status. Such unions ensure the family’s interests and solidify its position.
“The young master, being young and capable, was betrothed to the eldest daughter of the Zlando Whitley family since they were children. They were childhood sweethearts, destined for each other. This marriage was arranged long before their births.”
“Our family holds tradition in the highest regard. We must obey the will of our parents and the arrangements of matchmakers. I don’t know the circumstances that led to the young master marrying you, Mrs. Scott, but I believe it wasn’t his original intention. Don’t you think so?”
The smile and sweetness vanished from Georgia’s face. She sat holding the cup, her expression dim, her gaze flickering.
She looked at Billy, her eyes brimming with emotion, so vivid and pained that they tugged at the heart. Her hands trembled as she gripped the cup.
“What did you just say?” Georgia asked, her voice hollow.
Billy repeated himself. “I said, the young master and the eldest daughter of the Zlando Whitley family were childhood sweethearts, and their marriage was arranged before their births. Therefore, the young master must follow the family’s rules and accept his parents’ arrangements.”
This time, Georgia heard every word clearly.
Each word struck her like thunder, reverberating in her mind.
Billy observed Georgia’s reaction. Though he felt guilty, he forced himself to continue. “I don’t know what circumstances led to the young master marrying you. Perhaps it wasn’t his intention, Mrs. Scott.”
Yes. Marrying her wasn’t Kayden’s intention. It was her grandfather’s idea. Back then, Kayden was a fool, ignorant of everything. He didn’t even understand what marriage meant.
It was the Adams family that arranged for him to marry her. But at the time, was he worthy of her?
She was the most beautiful woman in Hiphia, pursued by countless suitors. Marrying him brought endless ridicule and skepticism. She endured it all.
Was it easy for her?
She stood by him during the lowest point of his life and accompanied him through three agonizing years.
Three years-how many of those does one have in a lifetime?
Now that he had regained his memory, was this how he repaid her?
No! Georgia bit her lip. She didn’t believe it. She couldn’t believe it. She refused to believe it was true.
She had already made up her mind: no matter what, she would stay with him. Even if he were no longer a young master, no longer a commander, she would still be by his side.
But now, why?
Why was Kayden using this way to hurt her?
