Chapter 423: A Reliable Man

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2025-2-7

Seeing Walter looking so indifferent, George swore, “Boss, don’t worry. I won’t let you down this time!”
Walter sized up George, took a deep breath, shook his head helplessly, touched his jade ring, and said, “What are you so nervous about? I didn’t say anything about you, did I? I just want to warn my enemies that I am still strong.”
He said the last sentence in a heavy tone!
After saying his words, Walter took down the jade ring, and right underneath that jade ring was a shocking wound!
He touched the wound and said with a sullen face, “Let’s do it this way. You and Asher will find where that guy is. When you find him, notify me immediately! Remember, don’t act rashly, and don’t do anything without my order.”
George sniffed, knowing that he had lost his trust with Walter. Even though he was reluctant in his heart, he nodded and said, “Okay! Thank you, Boss!”
Walter waved his hand and said, “All right, go!”
Asher turned to look at Walter and said, “Dad, you must avenge me!”
Walter waved his hand, not even bothering to look at Asher.
He got up and looked at the receptionist and said, “I don’t want to see this coffee table again!”
Kayden led Felicity to the hospital, and Felicity’s heart pounded as they walked to the hospital.
She swallowed and suddenly couldn’t help but stop.
Kayden grabbed her hand and asked, puzzled, “What’s wrong?”
Felicity asked carefully, “So, are you really going to go with me to see my mom?”
Without thinking, Kayden nodded and said, “Of course!”
Felicity swallowed again and asked, “So what will you say if my mom asks who you are?”
Kayden pondered for a few seconds and said, “Your friend.”
“Friend?” Felicity repeated, then said, “But my mom knows I don’t have many friends. I did have a few friends when I was in high school, but we’ve long lost contact.”
Kayden took a deep breath and said, “Then tell her I’m your friend from high school!”
“Okay then.” Felicity took two deep breaths, so nervous as if she was taking her boyfriend to meet her mother for the first time.
It didn’t take long for the two to arrive at the inpatient department.
Felicity’s mother was in a general ward, the cheapest kind of room here with nine patients in one room.
As soon as they walked into the hospital room, there were all kinds of smells and coughs from the patients.
Not long after, Felicity walked to a middle-aged woman. The middle-aged woman was lying on the bed, her hair was gray at the temples, her face was pale, and she looked terminally ill.
It wasn’t hard to see that she should have been a beauty in her youth though. Felicity’s features were perfectly inherited from her. She was wearing a shabby sweater, not even a hospital gown. It was obvious that she couldn’t afford it.
“Ahem!” Suddenly, the middle-aged woman coughed twice as if she knew Felicity was here before slowly opening her eyes.
“Felicity, you came!” The woman asked as soon as she saw Felicity.
Felicity nodded her head with a hmmm and said, “I’m here, Mom! How are you feeling?”
The middle-aged woman nodded contentedly and said, “I’m fine!”
It was obviously not the case.
“Don’t worry, mom. Soon you will have the surgery. I have already gotten the money and the doctor will schedule the surgery soon,” Felicity said with great excitement. Her mother getting the surgery was more joyous for her than hitting the jackpot.
When the middle-aged woman heard this, her expression didn’t change much. She forced a smile, then grabbed Felicity’s hand and said, “Felicity, you don’t have to lie to make me happy. Owen took the money and he’s not easy to deal with. I told you not to go to him. You must have suffered a lot from him, right?”
Felicity shook her head repeatedly and said, “No, mom. I really got it! Believe me.”
After speaking, Felicity took out a credit card and handed it to the middle-aged woman.
When the middle-aged woman saw the card, she laughed, and then said, “You’ve been cheated. Owen won’t pay us back. There’s definitely not a penny in this card. Honey, you are too naive.”
As she spoke, her eyes went to Kayden who was standing behind Felicity. Looking at Kayden who was standing motionless behind Felicity, she asked with some confusion, “Felicity, who is this?”
Felicity looked back at Kayden, she stammered, “Oh, this is my… uh… my high school friend! We just ran into each other on the way here. He heard you are sick, so he came with me to see you.”
“Oh?” The middle-aged woman seemed to suddenly realize something and couldn’t help but look at Kayden with scrutiny.
“That is just wonderful!” She suddenly uttered these words, and a pleased smile appeared on her face.
Felicity froze and asked, “What do you mean, mom?”
The middle-aged woman cracked a smile and said, “Nothing!”
It was hard to hide the relief on her face though.
Kayden unconsciously frowned as he listened to the coughs coming from around him, and then he said, “Let me change a room for you. It’s too noisy here.”
With those words, Kayden turned and left the hospital room regardless of anything.
Felicity had wanted to chase him out but was stopped by the middle-aged woman.
Kayden always did things without consulting with anyone. Especially not with a girl like Felicity, who lived a humble life.
“Felicity, tell me, what is your true relationship with him?” Felicity’s mom asked with a kind face.
Felicity frowned and said, “He’s my high school friend. I told you.”
“You’re still lying. You’ve never been good at that. You’re stumbling over your words,” Mona, Felicity’s mother, said as she stared Felicity in the eye.
Felicity pursed her lips, knowing she had been exposed, and lowered her head.
Mona said, “I knew right away that this young man wasn’t your high school friend. By the way, when did you meet each other?”
Felicity swallowed and said, “I just met him, and he’s the one who got the money back for us. There’s really a lot of money in here, enough for your surgery.”
Mona nodded her head and smiled, “He’s a nice guy! Very nice young man, good-looking, and seems reliable.”
