Gabriella brushed her hair and fixed her makeup. She grabs all her belongings before snatching her coat from the hangers. She rushes downstairs ignoring the looks from the servants.
Flavio is in the living room, sipping his coffee while watching the news on the television. When he heard footsteps, he turned his head to see his wife.
“Woah, where are you going in the early morning?” He inquired.
“I want to meet Damian and Melody,” she answers while wearing the shoes.
“Dear, we talk about this. Leave our son alone. He is probably busy with his work,” Flavio tries to confront his wife.
She scoffs, “Busy? Honey, I have been calling him since last night. Along with Melody. Guess what? Both of them didn’t answer my phone call!”
Melody didn’t pick up the phone? That’s odd. Usually, between Damian and Melody, she always picks up the call rather than their son.
“Maybe Melody is busy with her bakery. You know that sweet lady already owns a bakery,” Flavio tries to be positive.
Gabriella grunts. How can her husband become this positive and naive? Sometimes she wonders what made her fall in love with this man.
“Honey, whether I go and check it by myself or you will come with me to see it together?” She firmly said.
Flavio was quiet for a moment. He knows there is something wrong right now but he just doesn’t want to think much about it.
“Fine…” he sighs. “If that’s what makes you happy and calm, not becoming a monster then fine. Let’s go, I’ll drive.”
“Why it must be you?” Gabriella frowns.
He walks towards his wife and grabs the keys from her hands, “Because I still want to live.”
By that, he walks away. Gabriella huffs, crossing her arms above her chest, ” I didn’t drive like a crazy person,” she mumbles.
Victor walked into the office and saw Damian fall asleep on his chair. He let out a heavy sigh knowing this man didn’t go home. He shut the door gently before walking toward his desk.
“Dam,” he called.
Damian opened his one eye, “What?”
“You are not sleeping?” Victor arches his eyebrows.
“I’m not. I just…closed my eyes,” Damian sighs.
His friend stares at him from head to toe. Messy hair, dark circle under his eyes, his wrinkle top…
“You haven’t gone home, aren’t you?” He asks. “You have been staying here and-I felt like this office is your house.”
Victor’s sarcasm only made him annoyed. “Can you just shut up? You are so noisy this morning…”
“At least go wash up so that you are no longer looking like…death man,” Victor said bluntly.
Damian rolls his eyes. He gets up and takes off his blazer before tossing it aside. He has no mood for teasing from his friend.
“Don’t you want to visit your wife?” Victor speaks up again.
He paused for a moment, “I got work to do.”
“Yeah, work. Work for you to run away like a coward, I understand,” Victor nods in sarcasm.
“I’m not a coward-”
“Then, go visit her,” his friend firmly said.
Damian clenched his fist. He wants to go meet her but the burden in his heart holds him back.
“Doctor informed us there’s an improvement in her and she probably wakes up sooner or later,” Victor informed.
It makes him anxious about her reaction. Of course, she will look at him full of hate. That’s for sure and he just couldn’t bear to face those looks of her again. Not anymore.
“Are you going to see her?” Victor asks again.
“I…I will think about it,” Damian sighs. “Anyway, is there anything else you want to tell me?”
“You sound like you don’t want me to be here,” he smirks.
“You are not wrong,” Damian shrugs his shoulder.
His friend chuckles a bit before starts to speak, “Your parent has been trying to call you. You didn’t answer their phone call?”
“No. I know they will freak out and whatever it is,” Damian answers in annoyance. “If they know about the baby…”
He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. He knows his parent will fume in rage as soon they know about that.
“Don’t you think you should tell them everything is fine?” Victor suggests.
“No need. Don’t answer their phone call. Tell the others, especially Matthew. That man is naive like ever,” he rolls his eyes.
The car is parked in front of the mansion. Gabriella got out of the car and rushed toward the main door. Flavio follows his wife from behind.
She keeps ringing the bell, “Oh come on, what took them so long?”
“Dear, calm down. This is the reason why I didn’t let you drive,” Flavio holds her shoulder.
The door was finally opened by one maid. She looks shocked to see Gabriella and Flavio outside. Her expression shows that she didn’t expect Damian’s parents will come today.
“Mrs. Gabriella and Mr. Flavio. Welcome,” the maid bowed her head.
“Thank you. Where is Damian, sweetheart?” Gabriella asks gently.
“Mr. Damian? Uh…he…he’s in the office. Got some…work. Yeah,” the maid awkwardly smiles.
Gabriella narrows her eyes on the maid, “I already called the secretary and she told me Damian is not in the office.”
Hearing those from Gabriella made the maid panic. She looks everywhere but Gabriella, trying to find some fake excuses to make. Her fingers fiddled with her skirt.
“Tell me the truth. Where is that damn boy?” Gabriella firmly asks.
The maid looks at her with fear. She glances at Flavio who also waiting for the answers. “I…I’m supposed not to tell you, ma’am.”
“What!?” Gabriella yells.
“And why is that?” Flavio asks, deadpan.
“Because…. sir Damian told us not to…” she mumbles.
Gabriella’s jaw dropped. “How dare that kid—ughh!!!”
“Why he told you to do that? Is there something happened?” Flavio inquired.
The maid looks away. “I can’t say much about this, sir. I’m sorry…”
Flavio and Gabriella exchange looks. Now, they finally confirmed something had happened.
“Look, please tell us. We are his parent and—we need to know. We are worried…” Gabriella tries to confront her.
“But…sir Damian-”
“Don’t worry about our son. He can’t do anything because it’s on me,” Flavio firmly said.
“Yes! Both of us will make sure he didn’t fire you or anything,” his wife added.
The maid sighs. She takes a deep breath before letting it out. When the married couple says that, she has no choice. She knew they wouldn’t leave until she told them everything.
“Please, tell us,” Gabriella plead.
“Mrs. Melody’s bakery is…being ambush,” the maid spills it out.
“What!?”
“What do you mean by that!? Who did it!?” Gabriella holds her shoulder, demanding the answers.
The maid gulps, “I didn’t know, ma’am. All I heard is her bakery being ambush, that’s all.”
Flavio holds his chin, “I know who did this. It must be Matthias’s work. You know how that man is.”
“That old stupid man!” His wife grunts. “How dare he destroy my daughter-in-law’s bakery!?”
“Is everyone safe?” He asks.
“Uh…about that…” the maid fiddling with her fingers. “I heard Mrs. Melody is…is being shot…”
