Chapter 86

Book:Tasting The Enemy Published:2025-2-7

Elaine POV
“Elaine!” Opal called.
I tossed the pregnancy tests in my top drawer and plastered on a smile.
“I know Azaire’s downstairs and I don’t mind if you’re naked,” she said, opening the door.
“I’m not naked, lucky for you.”
Opal was ready to pop! I loved rubbing her belly I think having her around made my baby fever worse but I wanted Azaire’s kids before she got pregnant.
“What’s up?” I asked. “Are you hiding from Richie’s Mom?”
Opal flopped on the bed and pressed a pillow on her face.
“She’s driving me insane. I want to get married to Richie but I’m heavily pregnant!”
I sighed. “I’m sorry Opal. Why don’t you guys just move out? I’m sure you need your own space before the baby arrives.
“Why haven’t you and Azaire moved out? You wanted to do it didn’t you?”
I folded my arms over my chest. “We did. Azaire gave up his apartment and everything but he changed his mind. He wants to be close to his family and who am I to stop him?”
“Richie’s the same. Those brothers are so close.”
I nodded. “Anyway, I like living here when Azaire’s Mom’s not on my ass.”
Opal laughed. “You’re good at avoiding her.”
“No, I have school. Don’t let Azaire hear you say that.”
She stood up slowly using her right hand to support her bump. “Will you go shopping with me later? I don’t think I have enough clothes for the baby.”
I smiled. “Of course. You can never be too prepared.”
After Opal left I locked myself in the bathroom. I had to get this over with. My period was late and I couldn’t get rid of the itching feeling that I was carrying Azaire’s baby. I paced the length of the bathroom as I waited the agonisingly long four minutes to get the results.
“Elaine?” Azaire hammered on the bathroom door.
I jumped and dropped the test.
“What?” I asked with a racing heart and shaky limbs.
“You’re going to be late.”
He turned the knob but the door didn’t open. I snatched the test off the ground but the result hadn’t shown yet.
“Since when do you lock the door?”
“Uhh… because I’m naked.”
“It wasn’t a problem last night!”
Ugh, he’s infuriating. I should have done this in another bathroom.
“I’m almost done, Azaire.”
“You’re acting suspicious, Elle.”
Four minutes had to be up. I slowly removed my fingers to see the result. My heart was racing and I was breathing heavily. Would he be happy if it was positive?
I wouldn’t know…
The test showed one line. I wasn’t pregnant.
I was so sure… I covered my mouth and shut my eyes. I didn’t realize how much I wanted the baby until I knew there was nothing there. I felt hollow and cold.
“Babe?” Azaire called.
A tear rolled down my cheek. I didn’t want to talk. I couldn’t find my voice.
“Elaine, what the hell’s wrong?”
He violently shook the door. I knew he’d break it down if I didn’t open it.
“I just need a moment alone, Azaire. Please.”
“Tell me what happened?” he pleaded.
“Nothing happened… that’s the problem.”
***
Azaire eventually walked away and I found the strength to take the second test. It gave me the same result. I wrapped the negative tests in a shirt and took another shower. School was the last place I wanted to be but I didn’t want to be encased in this house all day.
I walked out of the shower wrapped in a towel, water dripped from my hair and left a trail behind me.
“You okay?” Azaire asked.
I jumped. I didn’t realize he was there. He lay on his back with his arms folded behind his head and legs crossed at the ankles.
“I thought you left.”
“No.”
“Oh, I thought you had meetings today about borders and stuff.”
I avoided his gaze as I walked to the closet and searched for something to change into. The walk-in closet was massive it could be another bedroom if it wasn’t for the drawers, hangers plus shoe racks.
The closet door closed. I felt his presence before he spoke. I focused on the task at hand, finding something to wear. He appeared behind me, his breathing deep and demanding. His fingers traced my shoulders before his lips and his scruffy beard connected with my skin.
“Talk to me,” he whispered.
He wrapped an arm around my waist while the other one tugged on the towel.
“Did something happen at school? Because I’ll deal with it.”
“No, Azaire nothing like that. I’m sorry. I guess I was just overwhelmed. Can we forget about it?” I turned around to face him.
“No, I have a problem with my mate being shy to be naked around me.”
“I’m not shy, Azaire.”
I unwrapped the towel and it dropped to my feet. His eyes travelled down my body.
“Satisfied?”
He backed me into the door, lifted his hands and caged me between his meaty arms.
“Yeah. You’re beautiful.”
His teeth rode up my thigh and pressed my clit.
“Azaire…”
“Like that?”
I sucked in my bottom lip and nodded. He kept his knee on my crotch and gently rubbed on the tender spot. The tender movement filled me with pleasure, making wet and wild, but I craved more. Azaire withdrew his knee and I gasped.
“Why?”
He chuckled. “You smell incredible when you’re aroused.”
He brought his fingers to my clit and soaked his fingers in my wetness. I arched my back and moaned.
“Yes…”
He sucked his fingers clean while he maintained eye-contact with me. That turned me on more.
“Delicious,” he said.
“Don’t tease me, please. Finish what you started.”
“I’ll take care of you baby.”
He lifted me off the ground, I wrapped my legs around his waist. I wanted him so badly. Just as our lips connected a violent crash separated us. The house shook slightly and several car alarms went off.
“What was that?” I gasped.
“Wait here, babe. I’ll check.”
“Azaire!” I yelled, grabbing his arm.
“It sounded like a car crash I have to check it out and besides you’re naked.”
That’s his fault!
“Alright fine. I’m right behind you though.”
He smirked. “Of course you are.”
