In mid-air, sword light and lightning clashed repeatedly, erupting with deafening roars.
While Lucas Collins fought the Wolf King, the battle on the ground below was fierce.
The appearance of the Wolf King greatly boosted the strength and morale of the Stormfire Wolves. Over sixty Cultivators faced a wolf pack several times their number, feeling immense pressure.
Though many Stormfire Wolves were slain by the Cultivators, there were also injuries and deaths among the Cultivators.
A Spirit General level Cultivator had his head crushed by a Demon General level wolf. Blood splattered as several Stormfire Wolves pounced to devour the Cultivator’s body.
Blood, screams, wails, and severed limbs filled the valley, turning it into a scene from hell.
Among the Cultivators fighting the Stormfire Wolves, Leo was the most at ease. No wolf could get within two meters of him.
Arthur Watts managed to cope thanks to Leo’s protection.
A Demon General level Stormfire Wolf roared, its lightning-clad claws piercing a Cultivator’s chest. The Cultivator’s body exploded with a loud bang, blood and entrails flying everywhere.
The blood of the slain Cultivator splashed onto Arthur Watts’ face. He instinctively wiped his face, his hand coming away covered in blood.
“Leo, there are too many Stormfire Wolves. Should we escape?” Arthur Watts’ face turned pale, his voice trembling.
Perhaps due to bad luck, as soon as Arthur Watts finished speaking, the Demon General level Stormfire Wolf locked its gaze on him.
With another roar, the massive wolf leaped towards Arthur Watts with the force of wind and thunder.
Arthur Watts froze in fear, forgetting to dodge and standing rooted to the spot.
“Ha ha, that fat guy is scared stiff,” George Collins laughed, pointing at Arthur Watts.
Apart from Leo, George Collins was the most relaxed. Wielding a golden sword and with the protection of two elders, he dealt with the Stormfire Wolves as easily as cutting vegetables.
He had time to look around and observe the entire battlefield.
Hearing George Collins’ laughter, several less-pressured Cultivators glanced at Arthur Watts with pity in their eyes. They thought the fat man was doomed.
At the critical moment, Arthur Watts snapped out of his shock and was about to summon his weapon when a figure suddenly appeared in front of him.
It was Leo who stood before Arthur Watts, holding the Dragon Sword and facing the charging Demon General level Stormfire Wolf with pride.
“Leo!” Arthur Watts exclaimed in shock as he saw Leo standing in front of him.
The Cultivators who noticed this scene were also surprised. They had never seen a Cultivator shield another from a fatal attack.
“Interesting, it seems their relationship is quite special,” George Collins said with a wicked grin.
The Demon General level Stormfire Wolf roared in anger at someone daring to block its target and lunged at Leo’s head.
Leo didn’t dodge but instead stepped forward. In a surprising turn of events, Leo’s sword pierced through the wolf’s jaw. With a swift movement, he decapitated the wolf, its head flying off as blood sprayed from its neck without touching Leo.
The massive wolf body fell heavily to the ground, raising dust.
“He killed a Demon General level Stormfire Wolf so easily!?” The watching Cultivators were incredulous. They knew Leo was only at the upper Great Spirit Master level.
George Collins rubbed his eyes, thinking he was seeing things.
Arthur Watts, recovering from his shock, asked emotionally, “Leo, thank you for saving me. Are you alright?”
Leo turned and shook his head calmly.
“Leo, I’m so moved. You didn’t have to shield me…” Arthur Watts’ eyes welled up with tears. He and Leo had just met, yet Leo risked his life for him-a gesture not many would make.
Leo couldn’t stand seeing a grown man cry and waved dismissively. “Don’t be like that. It was nothing. You pulled me away outside the city gates; we’re even.”
Arthur Watts continued to look at Leo with gratitude. “Leo, that sword strike was amazing! When you stood in front of me, I felt so safe. If I were a woman…”
“Stop right there!” Leo made a silencing gesture, looking disgusted. “Be normal! This isn’t the time for this; keep fighting!”
Arthur Watts nodded vigorously. “Leo, from now on, you’re my boss. Whatever you say goes!”
Leo ignored him and swiftly moved behind Arthur Watts, slicing an approaching Stormfire Wolf in half with a wave of his sword.
On Sabertooth’s back, George Collins stroked his chin thoughtfully. “It must have been a fluke. A Great Spirit Master can’t kill a Demon General with one strike.”
In George Collins’ understanding, even a Spirit Sect level Cultivator couldn’t easily kill a Demon General level beast, let alone a Great Spirit Master.
Elder Noah pondered for a moment before saying, “Lord George, that boy has excellent timing. His kill wasn’t just luck.”
George Collins smirked and had an idea. “Elder Noah, please test that boy’s abilities.”
Elder Noah hesitated before understanding George Collins’ intention after he whispered something to him using secret techniques.
Elder Noah thought for a moment and said, “What you suggest isn’t impossible, but we must ensure your safety until all the Stormfire Wolves are slain.”
