“If it were that simple, it would be easy to handle. But the key is that it’s not that simple!” Callum snorted disdainfully at everything related to the Bill family.
Ayan’s expression became serious, with a hint of cold indifference in his eyes. “What exactly is the Bill family planning?”
If it was not about money, then what else could it be?
Did Crystal know but pretended not to know?
If Crystal knew everything but deliberately pretended not to know and wanted to gain Camille’s sympathy and pity in this way, it seems to be an effective strategy, judging from the situation in the Simpson Group.
Ayan narrowed his eyes slightly, and his deep gaze instantly turned icy. If that was really the case, then he wouldn’t be polite.
The old man looked at Ayan with a heavy expression and asked casually, “Do you know much about the Bill family?”
“Not much. I only know that the Bill family has been trying hard to get close to her for some benefits.”
Ayan answered truthfully.
Callum sneered, “The Bill family has declined and now wants to regain their former glory. The only way is to quickly obtain a large sum of money and have a strong background.”
The Bill family used to be in politics, but they had all retired now.
Only when the old Bill was in power was the Bill family at its peak. Now that he held no position and none of the Bill family members had that ability anymore, they were in a very miserable state. They were completely different from true aristocratic families or entrepreneurial dynasties because they lacked sufficient financial resources.
Not only that, when the old Bill was in power, he offended many people due to his high position. Those people were now successful entrepreneurs and had done quite well. So, of course, they viewed the Bill family as a thorn in their side.
It was just because the old Bill was still alive that others didn’t dare to act recklessly. After all, even though he retired, people still respect him out of loyalty.
But if the old Bill was gone, the situation for the Bill family might be even more dire.
“They desperately need a backing. Do you know how Camille came to the Armstrong family in the first place? It was because his daughter, who was arrogant and pampered, refused to accept Camille. She even felt that Camille’s existence would hinder her future children.”
But she never had any children.
But time flew by so quickly that Camille had already grown up and even had her own child.
To the Bills, such a person was probably not easy to control. Of course, there were exceptions. If she was easy to handle, it wouldn’t matter. Yet, she married Ayan, a husband who stood by her side, which meant that any plans they had would inevitably be thwarted.
Callum’s words made Ayan understand the situation clearly, but there was still one point he didn’t quite understand, so he asked, “Does the other party know that Camille is in the Armstrong family?”
“Of course, they know. They just haven’t acknowledged each other yet because they fear the Bill family. They also want the person from the Bill family to willingly acknowledge Camille.”
“So they value that person from the Bill family so much?”
“Not really, but because Camille’s biological mother is in their hands. After so many years, do you think she’s still alive?”
Callum’s tone became somewhat solemn as he said softly, “Before you figure out how to tell Camille about this matter, it’s best not to say anything at all. This matter involves too many things. The Bill family may not pose much threat externally, but it still holds some intimidation power in this matter.”
“Doesn’t the other party have a lot of money? Why do they just let the Bill family do whatever they want?”
“They are not in a hurry because they are certain of their victory. Camille will eventually go back there. It’s just a matter of time. Now it’s only because that person from the Bill family has become anxious. If she doesn’t lower her head and acknowledge Camille soon, then everything there will have nothing to do with her. The Bill family won’t let go of such a big piece of meat.”
“Heh!” Ayan sneered coldly, “People can really do anything for their own interests.”
“That’s normal in this world. People will stop at nothing for themselves,” the old man reminded calmly. “Since you know so much now, you should also know how to proceed in the future. Remember, always prioritize Camille in everything.”
Ayan smiled helplessly, especially at his grandfather’s last instruction. He said, “In your eyes, am I always bullying her?”
“Yes! Don’t forget what you have done. What you did was extremely despicable. If it weren’t for me and your parents sincerely treating Camille well back then, do you think she would still bother with you?”
Callum snorted coldly and glared at Ayan with obvious displeasure as he recalled past events.
Ayan could only remain silent because what happened back then was indeed true.
His feelings towards Camille were actually quite complicated. In such circumstances at that time, he truly didn’t have any thoughts about personal matters. Besides, Preston and Eileen’s actions were too purposeful, making him believe that divorce was the best option.
No entanglements or complications would be good for her.
But things changed, and despite all that had happened between them over these years, they hadn’t separated. So now it was impossible for them to separate anymore.
Ayan chatted with his grandfather about other things and asked about his health as well, telling him that if there were any discomforts, he had to communicate with doctors immediately instead of bearing it alone.
The old man stared at Ayan with a displeased look. “I’m not Timothy! Do you think I’m still a kid? If I don’t listen to you, will you hit me?”
“Violence is not advocated nowadays, so don’t worry. At most, I’ll gather everyone in our family to criticize you.”
Callum snorted lightly with an unhappy expression on his face but ultimately didn’t say anything more.
After standing outside for quite some time, Ayan reached out and helped his grandfather into the room. “Come inside and sit down.”
The old man remained stubborn as if trying to prove to Ayan that he wasn’t yet old.
So Ayan stood as long as he did. When Ayan said he wanted to go inside and sit down, the old man said indifferently, “You’re weaker than me physically. When you reach my age someday, I bet you’ll be even more feeble than me.”
“Yes, your health is always excellent. No one is stronger than you,” Ayan agreed without any intention of arguing.
The old man snorted coldly and directly shook off Ayan’s support before saying in a detached tone, “You better keep your distance from me.”
Ayan naturally understood what he meant as he looked at the old man’s expression with a faint smile but ultimately didn’t say anything more.
When the two returned to the hospital room, Camille and Fletcher came back as well.
