Mrs. Campbell wasn’t particularly insistent. She was quite content with her current life of gardening and growing vegetables. As she ladled soup, she said, “It’s not that I want to control her. What era are we in? Am I supposed to arrange a marriage for her? It’s just that it’s a bit of a pity she isn’t with Ansel; he’s a good kid.”
At this point, Spencer, who was like a son to them, couldn’t help but say, “Mom, your taste isn’t that great.” However, he said it with a smile, without any hint of sarcasm.
This made everyone think of Rupert. Summer turned her gaze and smiled at him, though there was a bit of awkwardness.
Spencer chuckled but didn’t name names.
Mrs. Campbell replied, “Summer is lucky. If she had really married Rupert, I would have cried my eyes out.”
“I’m lucky too,” Spencer said with a smile.
He didn’t mind at all that his wife had once been engaged to someone else. If it hadn’t been Rupert but some honest and straightforward person, would the marriage have happened?
So sometimes, we must believe in destiny’s arrangements. As long as the final result is good, what does it matter if the process is a bit complicated?
The next morning.
When the plane landed, Jeffery made a call to Fritz Manor. The butler answered and excitedly went into the garden after hanging up.
The old lady and Jane were pruning roses in the garden, which looked beautiful in clusters.
The butler reported with a smile, “Madam, Jeffery just called!”
Both women stopped what they were doing and looked at him. A call from Jeffery always had something to do with Tom.
The butler continued, “Jeffery said he and the young master are back. They just landed at the airport and Miss Campbell is with them.”
They were both stunned by the news. Back already?!
They exchanged glances and their eyes curved into smiles.
“Did Agnes bring him back?” Grandma was overjoyed and stood up excitedly. “Is he staying? Is his project finished? Are they planning to get married?”
The old lady’s face was full of smiles, so happy she could hardly speak coherently.
Jane was also very happy. It seemed they were really together. Agnes went abroad and brought Tom back; their relationship must be strong.
Then the old lady went into the villa and told the kitchen to prepare lunch immediately and to send someone to buy ingredients to ensure a lavish meal without any negligence.
At the airport.
“Give me the suitcase,” Agnes said as she stopped walking and turned to him. “We’re not going in the same direction; I’ll take a cab home.”
“Miss Campbell, are you sure you don’t want to come back to Fritz Manor with us?” Jeffery asked again.
“No,” Agnes smiled. “I haven’t been home for so long; I need to explain things to my parents first so they don’t worry.”
At this moment, Tom’s phone rang. Seeing it was his grandmother calling, he quickly answered.
“Tom, you’re back? You must bring Agnes over; don’t send her home! Come over for lunch!!”
Agnes was about to take a cab home as she didn’t want to delay Tom since he also needed to take a cab and hadn’t notified his family for pickup yet.
Tom looked at her and said, “Grandma, you can tell Agnes yourself.” He then handed his phone on speaker mode to Agnes.
Agnes hesitated for a moment before hearing Grandma’s voice again, “Agnes dear, come have lunch with Tom at our place. The kitchen is already preparing.”
“Grandma…” Agnes didn’t know how to respond for a moment and looked up at Tom who had a gentle expression on his face.
When she looked at Tom again, he was smiling broadly.
