Tom reached out and pressed the elevator button. Agnes followed him into the elevator, feeling a sweet warmth in her heart. They didn’t exchange any words or look at each other during the ride, but there was a hint of affection in the air. She stood quietly by his side, like a bird nestled close.
When they exited the elevator, Tom entered the fingerprint code to open the door. He looked at the girl beside him and said, “Go in.” Tom’s attention to detail really impressed Agnes, who valued such romantic gestures. They entered the room one after the other.
Arkpool City.
At dawn in Fritz Manor, the exquisite roses looked particularly beautiful in the morning light, swaying gently in the breeze. The air in the yard was incredibly fresh as Jane carried a bamboo basket and scissors, selecting roses to cut.
In an opulent bedroom upstairs, a servant was helping the elderly lady get up. The old woman seemed troubled today, sighing repeatedly.
“Are you feeling unwell?” the servant asked with concern.
“No, no,” she replied as she dressed and prepared to go downstairs. “I just had a bad dream.”
The servant didn’t pry further about the dream, knowing that the elderly lady believed strongly in such things. A bad dream could mean that something unfortunate was about to happen.
As she descended the stairs, she asked, “Has Jane gotten up?”
“Yes, she’s in the yard cutting flowers.”
“Alright, I’ll go find her.”
Jane regularly cut roses every few days to put them in vases. She was a woman who loved life, with a gentle personality and a healthy glow.
After coming downstairs, the elderly lady walked straight out of the living room into the yard. At that moment, a middle-aged woman in an elegant long dress approached with a basket of roses. “Good morning, Mom.”
“Jane, I kept dreaming last night, all bad dreams!” The old lady was very anxious.
“Restless sleep? You didn’t sleep well then,” Jane said worriedly. “Do you want to see a doctor?”
“No need for a doctor; it’s a matter of my heart that doctors can’t cure,” she replied clearly. “Only Tom and Agnes getting married quickly can cure it.”
Jane’s heart skipped a beat; did this mean something?
The elderly lady took out her phone and was about to make a call.
“Mom, who are you calling?” Jane quickly came to her side. “Tom might be busy with an experiment; he promised to come back after finishing this project.”
“Jane, do you know what I dreamed about last night?” The old lady was somewhat fearful. “I dreamed that he faked an engagement with Agnes to fool me! His feelings aren’t even close to being settled!”
Jane was stunned by how real the dream seemed.
The old lady’s call went through; she wanted to invite Agnes to visit the manor. Not seeing this young girl made her feel uneasy. But Agnes didn’t answer, which made her even more anxious.
So she opened WhatsApp and started a video call with Agnes to see what she was doing.
Abroad, at night, in an apartment study room.
Agnes had just been about to take a shower when her phone rang. Seeing it was her grandmother calling, she looked at Tom uncertainly. “It’s Grandma…”
Tom glanced at her and said, “Answer it.”
The girl sitting at the desk swiped to answer the call. Soon, her grandmother’s face appeared on the screen, and she saw Agnes too.
“Grandma,” Agnes greeted with a smile. “You’re up so early!”
Seeing her on video with a dark sky and bright moon outside her window made the old lady’s heart tighten. “Agnes, you’re abroad?”
