For days, Chris hadn’t heard anything from Seraphina. The silence gnawed at him, filling his heart with an ominous premonition.
He picked up his phone and dialed Seraphina, but her phone was turned off. The realization hit him instantly-Seraphina might be in danger.
Without hesitation, Chris called Lynx and asked her to investigate Seraphina’s whereabouts. Unfortunately, Lynx reported back with disappointing news; she had no information about Seraphina either.
Clenching his teeth in frustration, Chris muttered to himself, “I have to find Seraphina!”
He paused to think carefully. Before she left, Seraphina had mentioned investigating the whereabouts of Lord Valerian’s daughter. It was possible that Seraphina had gone to the Dragon Order’s base.
Determined, Chris decided to go there himself to find her.
However, there was a problem. The last time he had been taken to the Dragon Order base, he had been blindfolded the entire time. He had no idea where the base was located.
Chris immediately called Lynx again, instructing her to find the location of the Dragon Order base.
“Boss,” Lynx replied, “the Dragon Order base is highly classified. Even I can’t pinpoint its exact location.”
“What?” Chris exclaimed, his face filled with surprise.
Lynx, the leader of Springfield Crew, had access to countless resources, yet even she couldn’t uncover the base’s location?
“Lynx, can you check if there are any secret facilities near Middleton?”
“Boss, I’ve already used satellite maps to scan the entire area around Middleton, but I couldn’t find anything resembling the place you described.”
Chris frowned deeply. “That’s impossible! I remember the last time I visited the Dragon Order base, it was in the outskirts of Middleton.”
Lynx thought for a moment before replying, “Boss, if that’s the case, then there’s only one possibility. The Dragon Order base is in a satellite blind spot. That’s why I couldn’t locate it.”
“A satellite blind spot?” Chris’s expression grew grim.
A satellite blind spot referred to areas that even satellites couldn’t detect. Such places were extraordinarily rare around the world.
It seemed clear now-the Dragon Order base was located in one of these blind spots.
Realizing this, Chris knew he had no choice but to find it himself.
Although he didn’t know the exact location, he had been there once with Seraphina. Relying on his sharp instincts and memory, Chris was confident he could retrace his steps and locate the base.
Without hesitation, he set out immediately to search for it.
His first stop was Camp Middleton, where Seraphina had brought him during their initial visit to the base.
The camp was heavily fortified, with guards patrolling every corner. Chris avoided alerting them, as this was a personal mission, and he didn’t want to involve the military.
Skirting around Camp Middleton, he followed the vague recollections in his mind, pressing forward step by step…
Meanwhile, in Middleton.
At Panda Networks headquarters, it was already 8 PM, but Candace was still at the office.
Thanks to Chris eliminating the eighteen underground bosses in Middleton, no one dared to cause trouble at Panda Networks anymore. The company had returned to normal, and employees could work without fear.
Glancing at her watch, Candace realized it was long past her usual time to leave. She stood up, packed her things, and headed to the underground parking lot before driving away.
Unbeknownst to her, a man dressed in white stepped out of the shadows after her car disappeared from view. His cold gaze followed her retreating taillights.
“Chris, you killed so many of my people and took my brother’s life. I can’t fight you directly, but I can go after those closest to you.”
The man in white was none other than Light Sin of the Hall of Valerian, who had escaped after his last confrontation with Chris.
After his escape, Light Sin was furiously berated by Daniel Williams, who ordered him to kill Chris at all costs.
However, Chris’s strength was overwhelming, and Light Sin knew he couldn’t defeat him head-on. He had spent days carefully observing Chris’s life and discovered that Candace was the person closest to him in Middleton.
Candace, the head of the Nance family, was Chris’s childhood friend and now the CEO of Panda Networks.
Light Sin’s lips curled into a sinister smile. If he could capture Candace, he was certain Chris would come running to save her…
Back in the mountains.
Relying on his memory, Chris eventually arrived at the valley where the Dragon Order base was located.
The scene before him was heavily guarded. Soldiers with automatic weapons patrolled the perimeter, and rows of tanks and armored vehicles were stationed in the open space.
Chris quickly realized that infiltrating the base head-on was far too risky. He studied the surrounding terrain carefully and decided to scale the cliffs at the rear of the valley to gain entry.
Before long, he reached the sheer cliffs behind the base. Peering down, Chris saw that he would have to descend several hundred meters to reach the valley floor.
It was pitch dark, and for an ordinary person, such a climb would be suicidal.
But for someone like Chris, a highly skilled martial artist, this was no obstacle.
He climbed down cautiously, navigating the treacherous cliff face. After about thirty minutes, he landed at the bottom of the valley.
Once on solid ground, Chris surveyed his surroundings.
The area resembled a southern-style garden, complete with flowing streams, small bridges, and elegant pavilions.
Chris was taken aback. The last time Seraphina had brought him here, they hadn’t reached this part of the base.
It was clear this must be a hidden section of the Dragon Order base.
Suddenly, the sound of a melodious zither echoed through the air.
Chris’s senses sharpened as he crept carefully toward the source of the music.
Moments later, he hid behind an artificial rock and peeked out.
In a nearby pavilion, a woman dressed in a Western gown sat playing the zither. Her beauty was breathtaking, her presence regal and commanding.
Chris squinted, his mind racing.
This woman seemed familiar.
“Where have I seen her before?”
Chris wracked his brain, and then it hit him. His eyes widened in disbelief.
He remembered now. He had seen this woman in the House of Rainstorms.
During his encounter with Victor Yellowbird at Prince Felix’s tomb, Victor had shown him a painting of a woman.
The woman in the painting was identical to the one now seated in the pavilion.
But how could this be?
The woman in the painting was Victor Yellowbird’s wife, Amy-a figure from over a century ago.
