Damian walked through the halls, his mind focused on one thing Aurora. He hadn’t seen her much today, and that bothered him. He needed to talk to her, and there was something about the way she’d been acting that made him want to be close to her again. He couldn’t get rid of the feeling that something had changed between them.
As he passed the hallway, he saw Aurora near the staircase, walking toward the garden. His heart picked up speed, and without thinking, he went after her.
“Aurora,” he called out.
She stopped and turned around, her eyes locking with his. There was a mix of surprise and wariness in her expression. She didn’t seem as excited to see him as he thought she would.
Damian stepped closer to her. “Come with me,” he said, his voice low, filled with a sense of urgency. He grabbed her wrist gently but firmly, pulling her toward the library without waiting for her response.
Aurora hesitated but didn’t pull away. She knew better than to resist him when he was in one of his moods. They reached the library, and Damian quickly pushed the door open, pulling her inside with him.
The room was large, filled with old books that lined the walls. A few tall windows let in the late afternoon light, casting shadows across the room. It was quiet, except for the soft sound of their footsteps as he led her deeper into the library.
Damian didn’t waste any time. He turned toward her, his eyes filled with desire. He reached for her, his hands resting on her waist. “I want you,” he said, his voice rough.
Aurora felt a jolt of panic run through her. She wasn’t sure if she was ready for this, especially not in the library, where anyone could walk in. She pulled back slightly, her heart racing. “Damian,” she said, her voice shaking slightly. “What if someone sees us?”
Damian smirked, not at all worried. “No one will come in. This is our time.”
Aurora looked around, still uneasy. The thought of being caught made her nervous, and the idea of giving in to him like this felt too sudden. She tried to step away from his grip, but his hands tightened on her waist, pulling her closer.
“I said, I want you now,” he repeated, his voice softer but more demanding.
Aurora’s mind raced. She knew how he could get when he was like this. But she wasn’t sure if she could just give in. She wanted him, but there was still a part of her that felt uncertain.
“Damian,” she said again, more firmly this time. “What if someone walks in?”
Damian paused, his grip on her waist loosening slightly as he looked into her eyes. “No one will come in. Trust me.”
But Aurora wasn’t convinced. She pulled away from him, stepping back until she was a few feet away. “I can’t do this, not here. Not like this,” she said, her voice a little firmer now, though she still sounded unsure.
Damian’s expression darkened for a moment, the hunger in his eyes flickering with frustration. But then he took a step forward, closing the distance between them once more. He reached out for her, his fingers brushing the side of her face gently.
“You don’t need to worry,” he said quietly, his tone softening. “No one will know. It’ll be just you and me.”
Aurora took a deep breath, trying to calm the rapid beat of her heart. She wanted to give in. She wanted him so much, but a voice inside her still held her back. “I can’t. Not like this. I don’t want to be caught.”
Damian sighed, frustration crossing his features, but he didn’t push her any further. He just stood there, watching her with a mix of longing and something else something like understanding.
He leaned back slightly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Fine,” he said, his voice quieter now, almost resigned. “We’ll wait for another time.”
Aurora felt a bit of relief, but also a strange disappointment. She wasn’t sure what she wanted, but at that moment, she felt like she’d made the right choice.
Damian seemed to calm down, the tension in his body easing. He gave her a small, almost amused smile. “You’re different now, aren’t you?”
Aurora frowned, not sure what he meant. “What do you mean?”
Damian looked at her, his eyes searching hers. “You’ve changed. You’re not the same girl who used to follow me around, waiting for my orders.”
Aurora felt a strange mixture of emotions. She hadn’t realized how much she had changed until he said it aloud. The old version of herself seemed so far away now.
“I’m not just some toy for you to use, Damian,” she said, her voice steady. She wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to say, but she felt like she needed to stand up for herself.
Damian raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “I never said you were.”
Aurora looked away, her heart still racing from the tension. “I need some space,” she said quietly, not looking at him. “I’m going back to my room.”
Damian didn’t argue. He just watched her for a moment before nodding. “Go ahead,” he said. “But remember, Aurora, things aren’t always as simple as you think.”
Aurora turned and walked toward the door, her mind still spinning. As she left the library, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something had changed between them. She wasn’t sure if it was for the better or worse, but it left her with a sense of unease that she couldn’t ignore.
As she walked down the hallway, her thoughts raced. What did Damian really want from her? What was happening between them? And most importantly, what did she want?
