That anger surged up, “Do I not even have my own freedom?”
Nelson frowned, showing a hint of nervousness, “That’s not what I meant.”
Callie pushed open the car door, walked straight into the house, entered the bathroom, and turned on the shower, letting cold water pour over her head.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Ylosea.
“The Scott Group said they won’t renew the contract…”
The agent nervously informed Iyana. Today, she had been frequently terminated from contracts, and even for the shows that had already signed contracts, she was notified last minute that she would be replaced.
For a moment, Iyana’s popularity plummeted.
With no engagements, she stayed home drinking.
“Jaquan, Jaquan indeed has tricks up to his sleeve, knowing how to corner me in the end,” Iyana murmured drunkenly.
As the darling of the entertainment industry, she had never suffered such humiliation since her rise to fame. The fall from grace was truly unbearable.
Everything she had was given by Jaquan. She was obedient and didn’t ask for much, which allowed her to stay by his side for so long.
She couldn’t even remember the exact day when Jaquan suddenly wanted to cut ties with her.
Iyana thought it was because someone from the Ellison family had returned, but instead, she saw a stranger standing next to Jaquan.
After that, this face appeared very frequently.
Iyana had seen with her own eyes how Callie fell asleep nearby, and Jaquan wanted to touch her head but didn’t dare to. He was so careful and cherished her so much; it was clear he cared…
So while everyone thought Jaquan liked Marilyn, Iyana knew he liked Callie!
Recalling the embarrassing scene at Marilyn’s wedding, Iyana gritted her teeth in hatred, losing all semblance of a star.
She clenched her wine glass, “What is Callie anyway!”
“Iyana, it’s better not to offend her. It’s not just Jaquan; even Nelson is someone we can’t afford to provoke.”
“Can’t provoke?” Iyana raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think so.”
She took a deep breath, “I remember we still have an advertisement with the Scott Group that hasn’t been shot yet.”
“Yes, the last quarter’s promotion. They probably want to end things well; otherwise, it would be a breach of contract.”
“When is it scheduled?”
“The day after tomorrow, in the studio at the Scott Group building.”
Callie came out after her shower, feeling much clearer-headed.
Opening the door, she saw Nelson standing outside in the dim light.
She was surprised for a moment and then folded the towel. “Today I went with Regan to look at houses. Later she wanted to cheer me up and took me to a bar. She didn’t mean any harm, so don’t blame her. And don’t blame me either.”
Facing Nelson now, she felt much more confident and at ease.
She didn’t mention meeting an old acquaintance.
Nelson stood in the dim light and replied seriously, “I’m not blaming you; I’m just worried about your safety.”
“Why would anything happen to me? With you here, Ylosea is very safe, isn’t it?” she retorted.
Nelson fell silent, sensing her bad mood.
“Callie, go to bed early tonight.” He was decisive; if they couldn’t talk it out, he wouldn’t force it. He turned to leave for his study.
As he turned, Callie suddenly called out to him, “Nelson.”
He turned slightly.
“Are you hiding something from me?” She mustered great courage to ask this question.
Nelson paused for three seconds, very briefly. He said, “No.”
Callie closed her eyes and took it in.
