Contracted to the wrong Alpha
Chapter 69
Jethro’s Pov.
All my life of serving in the pack and knowing Raven’s parents, I’ve known them to be peaceful and calm even when things were wrong, even when things were going against them. They were calm, cool and calculated in every aura and elegance one can describe which made me understand where Raven got his cool attitude from but what I’m seeing right now from his mother beaa totally out of the box.
“Are you crazy?” She yelled, following her son who gave a ‘I don’t give a fuck about what you think’ attitude while walking out
“Why would you do that Raven? Do you even know that she was under the President’s order and with the Priestess in charge, their law is irreversible?”
“Not now mum, I’m tired and I need to shower.” Raven replied boredly and did exactly as he said, I was surprised at his father’s composed attitude. All he did was stare at mother and son arguing till they were out of sight and he sighed. Staring at Lilia again before walking out of the room and I followed suit.
By Evening, the house was cool, calm but the tension in the air was thick as Lilia hadn’t woken up yet.
We were at the dining table and having a nice meal of chicken parmesan soup. Due to the tension in the room, I couldn’t savor the delicious state but Mr Brickwood finally broke the ice and said something..
“What are your plans, Raven? What you did was totally uncalled for and a deep stain on my reputation.” He didn’t sound angry, but he was worried.
“Nothing, she wakes up and eats to be safe until the Alpha arrives.” He said and took a spoonful of the soup to his mouth.
“You know you can be stripped off position for doing this right?” Her mother asked him calmly and he shook his head confidently.
“No, I know that Alexander would kill me if I was aware that his Luna was going to such a dreadful place and I did nothing.”
He said and I felt it again, raw jealousy.
“But she’s a rogue, Alveria confirmed that. You risked yourself by entering that place for her? Do you owe your life to the Alpha?” His mum cried and dropped the spoon and he shrugged.
“You’re being a delusional mum, I’m fine. And don’t believe everything the Priestess says. I don’t believe she’s a Rogue.” He added and sat up, ruffling this ginger color hair.
“I just hope Alpha gets here on time before the guards swim this place tonight. I was being followed while driving here.”. He added gruffly and looked up only to his face lighten up in a smile and we all turned to the same direction.
At the living room, Lilia stood by the entrance of the door as if she was trying to flee. She didn’t even care to look back but focused on tip toeing, the sound of my chuckle distracted her and she turned abruptly in shock and gasped.
Her eyes widened in fear that tears dropped down her delicate face in fear but the moment she saw Raven she sighed in relief and walked up to where we all sat down.
“Raven?” She called his name, not caring about anything in the world and took stealthily steps, to be sure he was the one and when she confirmed it, she let the tremor in her voice give out as she burst out in tears and hugged him, clutching his shirt tightly as she cried so hard.
“I.. wa.. I was so scared!” Her throaty whisper echoed in my ears and Raven patted her back, brushing her hair smoothly and I gritted my teeth.
I wasn’t supposed to feel this way for fucks sake but it’s as if chunks of stone was piled in my throat as she pulled him closer and cried till she stopped, her body shook and she sighed in relief still sniffing.
She has never in her life glance my way, what the fuck did I do to her?
“You shouldn’t have done that Raven, those silly things might have hurt you.”
Fucking hell, why was her voice so cute right now?
“Don’t worry Luna, I’m fine. I’m glad you’re okay too.” He replied and she snorted.
“I thought you were never going to come, I missed you like I was never going to see you again. Thank you Raven.” She smiled at the Beta who grinned and I really wanted to pinch myself to be sure it’s Raven. A clank sound on the plate jolted her out in reality and she turned her head abruptly and gasped at Mr Brickwood.
“That’s my Dad and Mum Luna.” Raven introduced and she bit her lips, feeling embarrassed.
“I’m sorry Ma’am and”
“Just call me Brickwood, my wife is Liliana.” Her eyes widened at her name and I rolled my eyes, it’s obvious they have identical names.
“Uhmm.. okay. I apologise for the stress I must have cost all of you. I really am.” She nodded, her head bowed in shame I never knew I could see a calm side in her.
“Eat enough already, you need them to recover faster. I hope you rest more before anything happens.” Liliana suddenly beams at Lilia who smiled and sat down near Raven. She eyed the vegetables on the table and the chicken before settling to take Raven’s food smoothly.
“Thank you, I will leave once I’m done.. I really don’t want to”
“Relax Luna, you’re staying here till further notice and until Alpha solved this bullshit issue.”
Her eyes glinted at once as he said that and she shifted closer. “Is Lex in Midnight Shade?”
I scoffed out and she looked at me, her warm sweet eyes was quickly replaced with a cold stare that scared me. God! All I did was make a sound.
“No Luna, not yet. Common eat already and stop secluding yourself. I’m sorry I ruined your ice cream, I’ll get another one to you tomorrow.”
She giggled and nodded, eating slowly and softly.
“I pulled down the Lex’s Enterprise Illegal activity, you need to see their faces Raven. Gosh! I didn’t even tell you about Isabella, how is Jerry? I missed him too.”
She ranted happily and ate as if she wasn’t traumatized a few minutes ago and Raven replied to her as if he was the big brother listening to his little sister’s rants and replying to her carefully. The happiness on Liliana’s face was priceless as she stared at them and passed the water to them.
“I passed the first test but I don’t know what will happen next. Lex’s father gave that order and” Her voice broke and Raven shook his head.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be fine. I promise. Now go to sleep.”
His parents already left them and it was just the three of us who sat down beside the dining table and began cleaning thing.
“I will. Are you leaving tomorrow?” She asked Raven who scratched his head and her mood faltered instantly.
“Please don’t go yet, atleast until Felix is far from me.”
Raven snapped to a beast instantly and glared at her.
“Did he touch you again?” He growled instantly, sudden looking at her body for marks and I scoffed, it was taking everything in me not to interfere in their conversation. I look so lost and alone and the feeling was heavy.
“I’m fine, I’m just scared.”
“Look Luna, it’s high time you tell me what you’re hiding before something bad happens. Why are you so keen on letting that ”
“Damn, you look hot when you’re angry!” She shrieked as she waved the phone at him and I did even realize that she took a photo of him.
“Not again Luna, I’m being serious here.”
“I know, and I’m going to increase my followers again. Come Raven, I really need to ask you something important.” She grabbed his hands and smiled at him, pulling him out of the house as if I was nonexistent.
I shouldn’t give a damn about that but , it fucking hurts like hell.
