Contracted to the wrong Alpha
Chapter 59
Lilia’s Pov
A cold ice water was poured on my skin and I let out an annoying hiss. My skin stung horribly and I groaned, wiping the water from my eyes and making no attempt to get up.
“Get up!” She snapped but I only raised my head to meet her and swallowed.
“I broke my ankle, feet and bones. I can’t do anything at the moment.” My voice was hoarse, in a whimper but clear to her hearing.
“That’s not my cup of tea, where is the crown?” She growled and bent lower to my face, so as not to miss a single letter from mouth.
“The crown?” I feigned Ignorance and her green eyes eyed me with contempt.
“Stop acting so stupid Lilia, the people are watching and you’re wasting their time.”
I nodded at her words, acting really stupid this time and stretched my hands to the direction of where the tunnel leads.
“The crown is the tunnel, it’s the most beautiful thing ever.” I told her and traced the direction of my hands and I saw a flicker of confusion reflect on her eye.
“Where’s the crown?” She asks again and I bite my lips. “It’s in the dungeon! You didn’t ask me to bring it. You said I should go to the dark tunnel to get the crown, not bring it. So I saw the crown and saw hell. If you really need the crown, you should have said it and I would have done your bidding.” I said that loudly for the crowd to hear and something bright flashed in her eyes. Anger!
I was chewing her words back and I’m definitely going to play along.
“Did I do anything wrong?” I faked an emotional tone and glanced at the crowd letting my fake tears fall.
“I didn’t know I was supposed to bring it out. The things I saw there were so scary. I almost died but how could I have left such an expensive item. Please let a guard go over and fetch it, or an elder can confirm what I’m saying. Yes, you. Go!”
My voice was so emotional that I sniffed, I pointed at a random guard and he flinched, taking a step backwards and I urged until the people couldn’t take it any longer.
“We really want to see the crown Priestess, I don’t think Luna was aware that she was supposed to bring the crown over, besides, she has the right to appoint someone to bring the crown over.”
Whoever said that happened to fall for my trick. Hehe…my first defense from Midnight Shade. He was elderly, his hair was low and his salted beards were trimmed short. He was dressed in a matching cotton outfit of Shirt and loose trousers and he seemed to command a kind of Authority from the way Alveria shifted and felt uncomfortable.
“No one has ever gone to the dark tunnel Sir Brixton. I’m afraid I won’t be able to go there in the dark to get this crown.” The guard shakily said and the crowd buzzed into a murmur.
Alveria cleared her throat instantly and smiled, “There’s no need for that, the task was for her alone and it’s okay as long as she went there and saw the crown. It would be a hassle to involve a third party.”
Lying crap!
She tried to fight the nervousness in her tone and my savior got confused for a while and shook his head.
“I’ll go myself, focus on the other test and let me get the crown.” He said and the pulse in Alveria’s neck pumped faster than ever.
“No need to do that Mr Brixton! It’s not a task for you or your son would be mad about that.” Her tone was suddenly fierce and I scoffed.
“So there was no crown in there?” My wolf asked and I nodded, smirking at my actions back there. She didn’t want anyone to know that it was all her scheme to send me in the dark to find nothing.
“Then why would you ask Luna to carry out such a dangerous task?” He felt pissesd I felt so elated.
“Because she needs to be tested as a rogue, you’re not a rogue Mr Brixton.”
“This is ridiculous, having a white wolf doesn’t mean one is a rogue. She might be an Alpha instead, this is just a waste of time. I hope you get what you’re looking for.” He muttered to the hearing of everyone and Alveria’s face was red. She turned to me and I Smirked to her face.
“And where’s the wolfsbane?” She growled and I cocked my head to the pile of the wrapped leaflets to check it out herself.
“There is it, Priestess.”
“It’s supposed to be a single one! How dare you bring all of this, thinking I’m stupid!” She yelled and swiped her dark hair to the back angrily and I coughed.
“You said I should use my scent Priestess, how can you not scent a Single wolfsbane here?” I taunted and her jaw tightened, batting her lashes on the pile of leaflets and I sighed.
I took a handful of the tiny leaflets and managed to get up, making sure that I’m so close to her nose and almost tore it when she yelled at me.
“Stop it! I never asked you to open it.”
“Then if I’m wrong, you should know which is actually the bane right?” I asked her and turned to the crowd for confirmation and the majority nodded at me.
Ah! I’m loving this, I manipulated the idiots..
“See? You need to choose the wolfsbane and scent it since you said I’m lying.” I told her with her challenging stare and she suddenly understands my whole act and curses.
I didn’t know about the bane but I was sure as hell that Alveria would do anything to see me slump which means that the bane was there. One sniff and she’s gone, she knows that and she couldn’t take the risk.
It was deadly poison that could make one puke daily at the scent alone and I knew she wasn’t willing to take chances.
“You snake!” She gritted her teeth only to my hearing and I didn’t give her a reaction but only stared at her stupid hair, stupid face that reminded me of Tessy and tall figure of evil personality.
“You planned all of this right? You didn’t check a dime in that tunnel nor did you smell anything!”
“Is that what you think of me?” I gasped and faked an emotional sight.
“How would you say that when I walked into the shadows of death to take a non-existent crown, I bet you’ve ever entered that place before you sent me there and spread these silly things on the field to scare me.”
“You fucking piece of shit, today is just the beginning so don’t that it’s over. I will make sure you leave this pack and my innocent Alpha in one piece, either in death or in slow pains of death. I promise you, especially for messing with my daughter!”
Her tone was deadly as filled with a conviction that she was going to fulfill that which was supposed to scare me but it didn’t.
The crowd was staring at us, totally confused at our moving lips but I took a bold step and closed the space between us.
“If you fail to prove me as rogue today before your people, you will fail every other day till the end of this month, you fake Lying Priestess bitch!!”
She gasps at my words, unable to mask her emotions but I smiled, acting as If I told her the sweetest thing ever and she smiled back, swallowing at her words before turning to face the crowd.
“We will continue with the next test tomorrow, you are all dismissed.” She ordered curtly, hiding her claws at the side of her gown and I scoffed feeling triumphant.
She left me without saying a word and I slumped to the floor, sighing with satisfaction. We did great today, tomorrow might be worse. I just need to train alone and work out my mind.
I saw Tessy running to her mother, asking her questions on the way but taking a good dirty glance at me before facing forward.
“Are you alright Luna?” Jethro’s voice echoed at my back and I felt instantly irritated and stood up.
“I’m fine.”
“Take this..” He stretched a clean white towel and a bottle of water. “You will need this, I’ll direct you to where you need to get your wounds treated.” I swat his towel away and brushed past him, totally feeling uncomfortable at his sight.
“I’m fine Jethro, I know my way to the clinic. Thanks.” I told him and walked away before he asked me any silly questions.
The man assigned to be my babysitter was laughing at me with Felix in the field, he must have been so engrossed not to know that I was watching but I did and it creeps me out to the core.
