Contracted to the Wrong Alpha
Chapter 50
Lex’s Pov
I’m seated at the large board meeting room in Lex’s Enterprise. The board members, investors, Head of department, and other top personalities of the board in the company were present. Jake and Isabella were present as well, I had to call them back to witness today.
The air was tense, quiet, and filled with anticipation of what was able to happen. I rarely host an Impromptu meetings like this.
Everything was hosted and arranged by the boards, from the company’s data, Income, investment and affiliates with other countries and companies. It was handled by them and all I did was sign and approve while I faced the duties of being the future Alpha, merging packs and expanding affiliates for my father.
The Staff I applied to were the majority of Midnight Shade members in the country, so most of them were Lycans and had to blend in with the humans so as not to cause any confusion. I started to employ the humans too so as not to create suspicion. My members were warned strongly never to reveal their wolf and to tame down the glow in their eyes.
It went well, or so I presume and left everything in their hands to mess me up.
Before Lilia came into the picture, I knew things weren’t right. The ridiculous amount of expenses for the company per month was like Midnight Shade annual expenses. My company flourished nevertheless but that was the influence of my father in the country as President.
Using other Alphas as a pawn in his game and paying them to make sure no shifter was found in the country.
It was a hassle, they multiplied and my father had to make them pay an outrageous levi for lurking around them and increasing our financial data.
This country was supposed to be for the Midnight Shade, Dad paved his way, struggled and got to the top before inviting the others. He indirectly controlled the state so his words are yes or no.
But staring at the members in the room, dressed in rich attire, expensive cologne, beautiful and intimidating faces with a tongue full of lies, I realized that I had given them too much freedom. They disregarded my loyalty and crumpled it to the dust and felt they could do as they wished because I was their Alpha and that debris they kept piling and taking as a normal mentality was going to end.
Xander growled and perked up in anticipation when Lilia walked in, her eyes were dull but she managed to keep a straight face.
A guilty and unsettling feeling crawled up to the base of my throat as I stared.
I felt disturbed, unsettled and angry!
Last night was too much to take in, My beta has been hyperventilating and after apologizing he disappeared. It was a slap to his face that someone had access to his phone and what was supposed to be strictly confidential was exposed to a whole freaking pack.
Raven was the best and mistakes were never an option for him so it means something was definitely wrong and it’s risky. Last night, I urged Lilia to tell me about the damned reason behind her being a rogue. It didn’t make sense.
Her wolf was white, with dark forbidden eyes but only a fool won’t realize the strength that exuded out from her wolf when she spread with Gracie at the arena. She was wild, and deliberate with every move so how the heck was she a cursed rogue? She’s intelligent as fuck and that was bad, it turned me on like an addicting poison. It could kill me and I know I had restrained myself.
That’s why I didn’t ask or pester her when she avoided me like a plague, looking like a beauty from the seas with her golden brown curls, her wet pouted lips and her flawless skin.
I’ve had my share of ignoring women and making them feel like trash which didn’t bother me. I saw it cringe when they cuss and swear at me for being an asshole but it didn’t move me. I wasn’t affected in any way until Lilia did the same to me and I realized how lonely I was.
I suddenly missed her argument, her glare and got extremely jealous of Raven who became her talking partner.
My heart skipped erratically when she finally spoke to me last night and I behaved like a spoiled abandoned child who longed for his mother.
I was beginning to get whipped by her and it’s surprising that I was shameless to admit that.
She was dressed in a mini tight black pencil skirt that displayed her milky laps and a yellow sun shirt buttoned up shirt that made her skin glow radiantly. She took a random seat in the midst of one of the board members and a low rumble of disapproval vibrated at my chest.
“And what is she doing here?” Isabella cut the deadly silence, referring to Lilia who bit her lips nervously. She turned to me, her lashes batting at every blink but quickly dissipated the glare Into a soft stare.
“Lex, this is totally not acceptable to you. If not as the CEO but as an Alpha, she has no right to be here in a meeting like this.” She seethed with anger but I ignored her, my back rested in the rolling chair as I cocked my head to observe Lilia.
I bet she had a good sleep after crying her eyes out last night, it haunted me in my sleep.
Her body, shaking uncontrollably in tears was a sight that made me and my wolf swore to find the motherfucker that tarnished her reputation and destroyed her life into being a rogue.
“Are you okay, Flower? I can postpone the meeting if you’re not ready?” I asked her through the mindlink and I swallowed when I saw a faint blush on her cheeks. She cracked her fingers nervously and shook her eyes as if she was talking to me in reality.
“It’s fine Lex, don’t do that please.”
My body heated up at her response, God! I would do anything to hear her voice. I just don’t know why but it seems her voice was like a drug I was getting addicted to.
“Alright, the ball is your court and this meeting is all for you. Show me what you got.” I told her and I saw a fiery grin that made me chuckle.
“Copy that.” She responded and I released a shaky breath, I was eager as well. I really wanted to know what a lot of them had been up to and I knew Lilia had enough evidence in store.
“Lex, nothing is funny. This is a private meeting. An Intern has nothing to contribute here!” Isabella growled and a side glance already made me see her claw threatening to surge out.
“You will keep your Lycan at bay and shut the fuck up Isabella. I invited you here not because you’re staff but because you need to be here. After this meeting, go back to your Industry and stop trying to renew the contract!” I glared at her and she gulped.
“But Lex, we are still”
“She’s going to be the host so you all should listen and not a word should be interrupted from her lips once she starts. You put your job on the line if she’s distracted!” I seethed, staring at all of them and loosening the tie on my neck, to make my neck free a bit.
Their expression was priceless, women, men and the young ones were so flabbergasted but no one dared to say a word.
Turning over to Lilia who felt a little bit nervous, I nodded at her to start.
“Over to you Lilia, take all the time in the world and tell me what has been happening to the profit shares of the last two years, the current Intrusion of income flow and the invisible investment with other affiliates.” I told her, giving her the sense of assurance niy to leave any details behind nor be paranoid at the men’s intimidation who all turned their gaze to her as if she was an acid that was about to burn their deepest secrets out.
She took her laptop with a swift move and walked to the center of the room, switching on the Led screen and projector to make the room bright from the Rays, touching a few items to get connected to the projector and her Laptop view so clear.
What made me cringe was her choice of wallpaper on her Laptop, making me roll my eyes in dread.
A bunch of Asian guys that looked nothing but a camouflage color.
