Lilia’s Pov
What seemed to be a rushing second turned into seconds then minutes before climbing into hours.
I was skeptical about why our presence was summoned but looking at the perfect arrangement right now and the bubbling explanation spilling from Isabella and Jake’s lips, I knew for sure that they had planned something under their sleeves.
Lucia felt so sad, I could see it through her expression. Like she already saw this coming and she must give up and let it go to them no matter what, which pissed me off as hell.
I was Infuriated but I had to be patient enough to listen to their trash accusations till the finish line.
“So that’s it Boss, the careless and unprofessional attitude came from Lucia. She misplaced the files as usual and couldn’t give a valid reason for that.”
That’s Jake, standing like the most humble professional gentleman and lowering his voice at Lex who seemed to be disturbed.
His beautiful dazzling eyes were now dull and I just discovered that he rolled his shirt up to his sleeves which made me shake my head. He shouldn’t be showing any skin. It’s distracting.
“So a whopping amount of 5 million dollars was gone in the space of a week and Lucia is responsible for it?”
Lex asked calmly but I could sense the tone of disbelief in his voice.
“Don’t just stand there Lucia, say something!” Isabella snapped at Lucia who released a shaky sigh and nodded.
“It’s true Boss, I’ll look for it as I believe I must have kept it somewhere.”
“I don’t have business with the file! I’m interested in the money that suddenly got the wings. I don’t know how long I will continue to incur losses due to unknown expenses. I warned you and begged for this not to repeat itself!” He seethed and a tear slipped past her eyes.
“I’m so sorry.”
“No, you will go on house arrest while the team investigates and traces the source of the fund..”
I grit my teeth painfully.
This wasn’t just fair, I mean, what sort of CEO is he when all he does is listen to what those whoremongers say without having any suspicion towards them?
It irked me to see that his company as a whole was using him, taking advantage of the fact that he is their Alpha, and felt they needed to feed off the opportunity presented before them.
No one in the Lycan Pack was left out of the silly mentality they had.
The Wolves were pure at least and the humans were just there to perform their duties enthusiastically.
“She didn’t do it.” I blurted out, I know trying to defend Lucia was stupid, close to impossible but I wasn’t going to let her lose her job for this nincompoops.
Lex raised an amusing eyebrow at me and I darted my gaze away from his alluring face. I hate how my heartbeat quickens at a simple stare, it freaks me out.
“Shut the hell up, don’t think that you don’t also have fault too.” Isabella turned to Lex with an accusing stare.
“We received an official mail for her to be an Intern here but unfortunately, she’s already a nuisance and was already beating up the co-workers to death. I had to step in to cover up the dignity of this enterprise as she was almost arrested. I didn’t want that so do something, Lex! I just didn’t want to fire her immediately.”
She ranted angrily but I cleared my throat instead.
“Lucia didn’t lose the file, I did.”
I told him and the place became quiet before I continued.
“I…I collected the file before she could make progress to the office and had it mixed up with other files. I could look for it if given time.”
“Liar!!” Isabella spat out and I bit my lips.
“Then you have to prove Lucia is responsible! I just said that it was my fault!” I glared at her back.
“This sly wolf is a bitch! Who do you think you are playing the hero? You’re trying to cover up for Lucia when you’ve allegedly stolen the company’s financial document plan and the affiliate’s plan we had with Green Howling Pack!!” She fired at me and blood drained my face to white.
How the hell did she know about that?
“What? You compiled each file and stacked them Into your bag and the next day the amount was missing like it dropped down from the roof to the streets! You even had to uninstall cameras into your bag!” Isabella continued to rant and I felt uncomfortable.
She was right.
I did all of that but I was careful as hell, how on earth did she find out? I had my motives but not for stealing anything.
My throat constricted heavily in shame and I cleared my throat.
“Did you do it?” Lex’s voice asked me and I let out an exasperated sigh!
I must be the thief right now to him, the gold digger and a cheap slut.
I twitched my lips before nodding.
“I had my motives, I”
“You shouldn’t have gone to the Company’s private store, what were you doing there and what the fuck do you need most to get the documents from Green Howling Pack?” His voice sounded disappointed and I wanted to roll my eyes.
I scoffed, I won’t let him judge me and have that silly authority on his face as usual.
“Just punish me, Lex, quit the Boss bullshit, and let me get the hell out of here. I’ve added thief to my list of my scandals now!” I said boredly and hissed and the whole room became quiet as a graveyard.
Lucia’s eyeballs were wide enough to be gorged out and Jake’s surprise gasp filled the air. Isabella was just too stunned, not able to say anything and that was when It registered in my mind that I just called his name casually and said Bullshit.
I cleared my throat nervously and shook my head in disbelief.
“No!! No, don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t referring to him, I mean the Boss. I’m sorry sure, I was justrehearsing some words. Yes! rehearsing, my boyfriend and I are making a shoot and I thought I could say it out here.”
I stuttered and Isabella finally let loose of her chains.
“Are you mad!!” She yelled and shook my head.
“I’m sorry, please sir don’t take it to heart,” I whined so sarcastically at Lex’s hearing and I swear, I heard a loud deep chuckle.
“You’re fired!! Stupid, useless Wolfy bitch!” She fired again and Lee growled within.
“Fire her Lex, this is too much. She needs house arrest and needs to return every document she stole immediately! Lucia would follow suit too.”
I got pissed at her gesture and I wondered who she was to feel calm at her rantings. If there’s anyone to rant out frustratingly, it should be Jake or his Personal Assistant who is not here. Isabella doesn’t have an uplifting position in the company but a personality of being a celebrity which irked me.
“Keep Lucia out of this!” I growled at her and she scoffed.
“Do something, Lex!” She screamed and my irritation grew disgustingly.
My eyes burned at where she placed her palms right on his shoulders, standing next to him and Lex couldn’t do anything but stare.
If they are still on dating terms then I should get the hell out of the company as I won’t love to see bullshit dancing in my eyes.
“Fine, you’re fired, Lilia.” I scoffed out at his words.
“It would be so surprising if you didn’t act on her words, you don’t even have a power of your own! Puppy Alpha!” I growled at him through the mind link and moved to leave when his voice stopped me.
“Don’t leave, you will undergo some house arrest too. I need to know where you kept my files and what you intended to do with them.”
I can’t believe he is so serious right now, I might have taken the file but can’t he just have a fickle knowledge that my intentions are pure?
I seethed and huffed in annoyance.
“Get out, all of you. ” He ordered.
“Not you Lilia, you’re exempted, and Jake?” He called him and he bowed so respectfully.
“You should take a rest too.” He said casually at Jake whose brows knitted in confusion.
“Stay at home for three months, you look tired.”
He gasped.
“No way Alpha! I’m not, I don’t want to.”
“Well, I want you to. Because you seem so tired to cater for the enterprise as the Managing personnel for this department.” He uttered and turned to Isabella.
“Your contract with my company is expired, you should go too.”
“But Lex, I still want to”
“Now get the fuck out before I change my mind to something worse!” He ordered with a simple command that set chills throughout my body and they found their way out quietly.
