Contracted to the wrong Alpha
Chapter 38
Lilia’s Pov
I groaned in a hissing pain as the bright lights sent a force to my eyes, increasing the pounding pain that spread to the back of my head.
I fluttered my eyes open to see a blur of the beautiful diamond lights above my head and the familiar nauseating smell of medicine twirled in my nose making a bile of irritated saliva pile up.
I knew what happened, I remembered vividly that I was standing next to Jerry to ask him if he was in trouble, if he was going to be sacked, and if he would be okay but the old man saw my questions amusingly and laughed it out, telling me he was okay.
We talked about the city, the Pack, Midnight Shade in particular, and the secrets they harbor which piqued my interest like honey. He talked about Lex’s company and the challenges that come with working there in a day.
The old man was too friendly to be a butler. I asked him about his children and he just smiled sadly which was a conviction that something bad must have happened.
But all of a sudden, I felt dizzy, a spinning and a hot searing pain struck the side of my body rendering me paralyzed and all I saw next was darkness.
Right now, I’m staring at Doctor Morphyl’s face and the two delicious snacks before me. A stone-cold one and an arrogant one.
Their eyes were fixed on me as if in an ant trying to escape Into a hole, Lex’s eyes couldn’t hide the worry it glinted.
As if he was itching to come closer but he couldn’t.
“How are you feeling?” I turned to Morphyl and bit my lips.
“You came to New York, you’re always here when I’m on the verge of death,” I mumbled and threw my hands on his shoulders for a hug and he laughed.
“You know that’s not true.”
“No, I think I’m right. I lost you after the Blue Moon Ritual. I thought I was going to lose you after dying in the dreadful place and escaping such a brutal fight.” I told him and he sighed and sat down near me, taking the cotton wool to dip in the antiseptic before him and wiping it on my skin on the shoulders.
“I’m glad you’re okay Lilia, I don’t know what I could have told Ian. He will be visiting next month.” I gasped in surprise and sheer excitement but the tiny piercing pain from the Injection made me hiss.
“Ouch!” I winced and bit my lips, collecting the wool to wipe the blood off.
“Will Ioona be coming too? Please tell me they would, Gosh! I’ve missed them crazily” I blabbed happily but he twitched his lips.
“Not in the Alpha’s mansion, but you can try and”
“It’s okay Morphyl!” Lex’s voice cuts him sharply and I wondered why his deep voice sounded so alluring right now.
“Her family is always welcome.” He said, fixing his eyes on me and I looked away, wondering when my family became so welcoming.
Those eyes were seductions I was trying so hard not to fall for, especially when he was looking at me as if he was scared as if I would break at the mere lifting of my hands.
“Oh, that would be wonderful! Thank you so much.”
“Is she okay?” He asked him, still staring at me with his hands stuck in his blue ripped Jeans and Nike White Polo that displayed the dip and curve of his muscles which made me salivate at the thought of seeing without that cloth.
His canvas reminded me of the one I bought for Felix on his birthday and the fact that he’s not yet aware of the relationship I had with his brother made me sigh in frustration at how he would react.
“Yeah, she’s fine. I think she has seizures. I don’t know what might have triggered It but I could only say her wolf must be the cause.” Morphyl said and Lee growled.
“Why is he lying?” She whimpered and I chuckled.
“You know Morphyl won’t lie about my health,” I told her and she huffed.
“Yeah, but he would lie about me because I’m a cursed wolf!”
“Lee!” I seethed within, getting restless at her outburst.
“What? You think I don’t know that I’m a curse and a burden to everyone and you? Everyone doesn’t want me and would always use me as an excuse for your health, I don’t even have a mate! I just want to be free!” She growled within and I fisted my hands and shook in anger, my face was buried down with twitching lips.
“Stop it, Lee, I want you. Why are you bringing all of that now?”
“I just”
” Flower?” I heard that name and darted my eyes to him and I swear, I saw him flinch.
“Are you” He huffed in frustration and raked his hair.
“Why are you angry with me? I just called.” He stated as anger was visible in his tone.
“I’m not.” I looked around and discovered that Morphyl was no longer with us except for Raven.
“You’re always pissed, not that I give a fuck but you should remember that every fucking thing that happens to you is like an update to my pack. You can’t be getting sick now and then, getting into trouble only to act all angry when I’m trying to clear your mess!”
“Then get the fuck out! I never asked you to be my shining armor. It sucks on you a lot.”
I told him and he chuckled, a bitter one.
“I’m only trying to protect you from the Pack, the next thing that might happen is getting a replacement.”
“Then do that!” I yelled in anger.
“Do that and let me breathe, I told you I wasn’t pissed with you and you’re spewing all other unrelated facts. Do you think it’s fun tying me down and making me neglect important things in life? I’m a human being too, slut or not. I had a life before you!” I exclaimed, now shaking and making tears circulate through my eyes which pissed me off.
Lee was making me feel guilty for caging her here.
“You will work in the company so can you stop.. quit the tears.” He replied and I swear, I gasped in shock at the calmness of his tone and stood up.
“You’re lying, right? You’re saying this only to twist words the next day!” I squeak in surprise.
“I’m not and sit down Flower, your eyes are still glowing and Goddess knows what will happen next if you don’t calm down.”
He said and I swallowed.
My eyes must have paved the way for him to think that I was mad at him.
Raven couldn’t hide the smirk that was forming across his lips and it was so surreal.
I sat down quietly and Lex cocked his head at me, staring at my eyes like a curse and I used my hands to cover it.
“You can choose not to stare if it disturbs you, just let me go to work tomorrow, please. I will be diligent and serious until I get back to my company.” I told him and he chuckled, biting his lips and shaking his head as if I uttered gibberish.
“You don’t have a company anymore Lilia!”
I swallowed and nodded, trying not to flare up at that statement. I would do anything to leave the house so it’s unwise to argue with him. Not when he’s in a good mood.
A chuckling Lex looked too beautiful, a smirking Raven was the most unnatural thing I’ve ever set my eyes upon.
Did they have a plan?
Why was all of that happening when I collapsed?
Fuck! They looked like Ice Princes of beauty.
“Yeah, I don’t have company!” I repeated calmly and Lex folded his arms in amusement. I know he was expecting my outburst but I won’t give him that satisfaction.
Staying one month in the house was no joke, I needed to leave, if possible find a secluded place for my wolf.
I yelped in shock when he came closer to place his hands on my head to feel my temperature! Sparks and desire flooded through my bloodstream.
The last time he touched me was when his hands caressed every part of my body like gold.
I know, it’s stupid to still wish for that but Lex is a sexy arrogant creature. The authority he possessed was such a turn-on that I wished he used it on me in bed. In a way to push back our differences, the hatred, I want to take away the fact that this man is selfish and cares for just his pack and the wishes of his father. I want to ignore the fact that his brother ruined my life to be tagged as a failure and disappointment and push him to this bed to rip his clothes off.
Goodness! I needed Lex and I hated how it made goose crawl on my skin.
The house became so hot and his eyes darkened, wait! I hope he doesn’t know what I’m thinking too.
His hands dropped down softly to my cheeks to caress the sides and I almost leaned to his touch.
My breathing became erratic and I could see how his jaw twitched.
His golden eyes were still mesmerizing and his jawlines were perfect. He was a sinful perfection and I
His phone rang and we were broken apart like ice. He swallowed, his eyes twirling with confusion as if he did something wrong before stepping aside to receive the call, his eyes still fixed on me and I released a shaky breath.
“Yes Dad, I kind of did it.” He replied, his eyes went shut as if the next statement hit him like a ton of bricks.
“I know, I’ll go to Brooklyn There won’t be war, I’ll make sure of that. Yes! Fuck! Dad I know, he messed with me too. I’m coming, stop yelling.” He said cut the call and turned to Raven without staring at me.
“Get her something to eat, I’ll be back.” He turned to me with what seemed like a longing gaze and walked out without saying a word.
Something was wrong, I could feel It and I knew it was about the Alpha he killed.
