Contracted to the Wrong Alpha
Chapter 24
***
Lilia’s Pov
The event of the night wasn’t over, I was now dressed in a short gold dress that stopped above my knee. I didn’t care about the designs or have time to admire the dress as I was still scared and the Blue Moon Ritual became the most disgusting event to attend.
I wondered what would happen next once I stepped out, it was as if the Pack as a whole was my curse and my husband has no business whatsoever in defending my ass.
I couldn’t believe I still could connect to Jax through the mind link despite being years apart from seeing each other.
He saved my ass, the little words he expressed were more than enough to prove to the people that I had no hand in being a cursed person and I felt elated.
I hate this place, I thought White Crisp was worse but here is shitty. Not only with a shitty fighter who wanted me dead but a bunch of wicked Alpha, Beta, and a heartbreaker to make my day antsy.
‘I can’t come in Lil’ Jax’s voice echoed in my head and I felt a deja vu run through my existence.
He had once used this tone on me when he had once told me that I couldn’t come into his room. His voice was cold and dead that night I had wanted to leave for New York.
That night I was deduced to be a failure and a rogue.
But this time around, his voice held nothing but care and worry.
“they won’t let me in. I’ll see you at the Ball.”
“Alright Jax, thank you,” I told him but he didn’t say a word.
I was ushered respectfully out of the room to enter a Black Porsche car that drove for barely a second to a magnificent building that existed in the heart of Midnight Shade.
I got out of the car and walked inside, hoping and crossing my fingers not to see Lex which I didn’t.
It was a magnificent place. The room was darkly lit and dimmed with sky-blue crystal balls that hung low up to the ceiling.
There was a long buffet by the side and the hall was saturated with neatly arranged tables with high exotic mouth-watering wines.
I thought this was supposed to be a Ball event.
I asked myself, however, there was another open space which I couldn’t see and It was demarcated by royal blue curtains with strings of silver at the edge.
Everyone was having the time of their lives and I scanned around to look for Jax but my eyes landed on my father instead.
I felt a lump and my mum who saw me badly wanted to leave the spot where she was standing. I defeated her actions by walking close to them. My eyes fixed on them as I walked hastily to meet them, crash landing myself on her shoulders and she let out a bitter sob.
I shook in tears too, glad that they were here. Disappointed that they never went to the Blue Moon Ritual despite my pleas.
“I’m sorry sweetheart.” My mum cried and wiped my tears. She felt awful, more like blaming herself for whatever she was going through.
“Why did you blow up your wedding day Lilia?” Dad’s tone was harsh but his expression wasn’t matching that tone. He looked hurt and I swallowed.
“I’m sorry, I just couldn’t- I thought I could be free for a moment.”
“Lilia! Did you see what your action caused you?”
“No Tyson!” My mum yelled fiercely at him, her hazel eyes glinting at him.
“The highest I’ll tolerate right now is scolding our daughter! You pushed this mess to her.”
I could feel a hot argument cooking between these two and once they started, nothing would quench it until further notice.
“I never asked her to be careless for her tape to be released! It could damage the reputation of”
My mum cuts him off before he can finish
“You care so much more about a reputation than our daughter’s life? We all make mistakes in Life Tyson and I know that my baby wouldn’t be just careless aside from some douchebag who wants her to suffer. And as if that’s not enough, you signed her off to Midnight Shade!
Fucking Midnight Shade Pack??” She yelled but the music in the background masked her voice. My dad looked as if he was being hit with a hot hard stick as his jaw clenched.
“That’s the only option. They are powerful!”
“Yes! Powerful enough to kill her, send her to the dungeon, and reveal her wolf?”
“Mum please?” I cried, trying to stop her. I know she’s mad but the deal is already done. I can’t do anything right now even if I want to.
“I’ll be fine, it’s just six months okay?” I told them as a matter of finality and she sighed and nodded.
“If he tries to hurt you, don’t hesitate to run Lilia. That guy is not a wolf or human. He’s worse than what I’ve mentioned.”
My mum said my dad sent a glare at her which made me chuckle.
I could feel his presence, a burning stare at my back which made me turn my back to meet him.
Jax.
He was watching us from afar, sipping his wine stylishly.
“I’ll see you around Mum, love you Dad,” I told them and they smiled sadly before I left their presence.
“Mind a drink?” Jax asked me the moment I was barely inches before him and I nodded.
I needed something strong.
He poured the cocktail into his glass and passed it to me.
I was disappointed that it was nonalcoholic but I moaned and rolled my tongue at the fruity sweetness that spread down to my throat.
“So…” He sighed and cocked his head at me.
“You’re becoming Lex’s Luna?”
I nodded, drinking more of the wine and licking my lips.
“Yeah…Thank you for ”
“I think that’s enough Lil, it’s nothing! I’m expecting the same favor from you soon.”
He said and I twisted my brows in confusion.
“How would I be of help when I’m a cursed nonentity over there?”
I asked him and I could see a flash of hurt in his eyes.
“My dad would listen to you, I need to go to the city but my dad won’t approve of it. My Alpha duties would be at stake and I’m sure that Luke can handle it but he won’t approve it.”
I chuckled bitterly at his words, Luke was his Beta.
“Your dad approved that I should be cursed and thrown out of the Pack! Automatically, I have no business with the White Crisps, I appreciate your help a lot that night but don’t pretend at the fact that you didn’t want me to go too, you didn’t care to listen to my side of the story so how on earth will your father grant me a request on your behalf.”
I was raising my voice at him, feeling pissed at all of them. His kind act towards me didn’t stop me from feeling the pain and resentment I had gotten in the past.
It was so heartbreaking.
“After you left, we realized a lot of things that made us regret our actions. Lilia, you need to understand that my Father is”
I was yanked forcefully from the table I was leaning on, my heels tripped on the smooth tiles and I landed softly on a hard lean body whose scent would always be stamped in my head, nose, skin, and everywhere.
His eyes were always beautiful, No! He’s beautiful when angry because that gold glint was rare. So glorious and graceful as if he owns all right to be this beautiful.
But the moment I realized that the man who had stood to watch my death was too close, with his arm wrapped around my waist; I felt a nostalgia hit me.
I felt both irritated and comfortable and using my hands, I peeled him away from me.
“We have a dance Flower, and as my Luna. We grace the floor tonight.” He said with an authority and possessiveness I’ve never seen in him before.
I wanted to say something but Felix’s gaze which was burning hot on my skin made my heart leap in fear.
What does he want from me now, I’m not the one holding his brother!!
Jax twitched with fury, not masking his expressions at all.
He came closer feeling so irritated and uttered a statement that made me cold.
