Lex’ Pov.
I didn’t know what happened next, lost staring at her, drinking this new side of her as If I couldn’t get enough when her face suddenly contorted into shock, and gasps filled the air.
My gaze followed her sight to discover that her floating candles had sunk inside the sea with such force as if it was stacked with stones.
And once again, I felt affected.
Fuck!
Another worst thing happened before my eyes and I was getting affected. I shouldn’t feel so, I shouldn’t give a damn about what happens to her since it should be a good thing that a bad omen was spotted and I’ll get to be careful but it was the opposite.
I felt worse as I couldn’t use the word ‘fear’ in my vocabulary.
I felt what might befall her and thought of the ten thousand ways why her candle stopped floating.
The happiness in her eyes could heal a broken soul and I was a victim. She was genuinely excited for a very little reason and so fucking beautiful.
I know she caught me staring at her but fuck it all!!
She’s tantalizing as I wondered how it would be to cup those perfect breasts in my hands again. Her naked thighs from the effect of the slits were another mesmerizing view I couldn’t take my hands off.
The Blue Moon Ritual was a normal thing to me and everyone but she made it seem like there was something special we were missing, from the way she giggled, clapped her hands, and pouted she was the cutest thing I saw today.
I broke a rule and joined the crowd for her sake and it felt different, good, and normal. I chuckled at her frustration when she didn’t have a candle and the shock when I spoke to her through the mind link.
I was feeling irritated at myself for getting this distracted, I didn’t want this to happen when we got back to the Parliament in New York or my main House.
I had a lot to do and just today, the President of Russia contacted me to come over to sign the proposal my dad had given to him concerning merging their industries which made my dad Extremely proud.
More was waiting for me and I had to be serious for the next six months and keep an eye on her lest she flee again.
But looking at what’s happening right now, I felt a deep twinge of uncertainty and bad events unfolding.
“The moon goddess has Rejected her candle!” One of the pack members and the worry that clouded her once bright beautiful face deepened.
“She’s a bad Omen!” Another yelled and they chorused alerting Alveria who stomped gracefully to where we were standing.
I could smell her fear, I could smell her anxiety and I wanted to tell her not to fret that I would handle the issue.
“Fuck! Lex.”
Handle what issues? When did I start to give a fuck?
When?
Alveria came over, looking displeased. Her countenance changed abruptly and I swallowed. Everyone else was silent as to what she was about to say when she dropped the bomb.
“She’s a curse! She can’t be Luna.” She declared and I saw how Lilia’s face shot up in shock at the first statement then sagged in relief at the second one which Infuriated me.
She didn’t want to be my Luna! That’s the fucking problem.
The crowd gasped and what I heard the next seconds drained all ability in me.
“She would be sent to the forbidden dungeon! I doubt her pack would accept her as being cursed on the Blue Moon Ritual Day!”
She uttered and Lilia’s eyes sheened with confusion and crystal tears rolled down her eyes.
“W.. what are you talking about?” Her voice croaked with fear.
“This has rarely happened in the history of Midnight Shade but you keep proving how dangerous you are to our Alpha! Your candle was rejected and suspended and you won’t be the Luna and you must serve the punishment as well. You’re going to the forbidden dungeon!” It was an order from the Pack’s Priestess and she gasped.
“I didn’t do anything wrong aside from lighting the candle, why are you taking me to such a dreadful place!” She yelled in anger, surprising everyone with her outburst.
The Forbidden Dungeon wasn’t for humans! She was sentenced to her death and I’ve never heard of a proclamation of such a punishment before, the last person that came out from that dreadful place was me.
And yeah, it’s hell. I wouldn’t go into details as to what made me end there but this fragile little thing would die!
“You have no right to yell at the Priestess!” A lady barked at her and she scoffed.
“What have I done wrong? What Exactly?” She cried out.
“A lot to disqualify you for many things and before you go to the dungeon, you will undergo a spar with the Pack warriors, failure to defeat them will make you get exiled after you come out from the dungeon, that’s if only you will survive it.”
“Alveria!!” I growled and she turned to face me sharply.
“Fighting with the Pack warrior is totally out of the box!” I spat out, beginning to feel irritated that she was too extreme with her even though it’s the Law.
“That’s the law Alpha, not especially when she almost killed my daughter and dressed herself on the Blue Moon Ritual Day. It’s barbaric and a Taboo. It’s everything for the Moon to reject her.”
She told me and I frowned and knitted my brows in confusion. She almost killed Alveria’s daughter? When, why would she do that and Fuck! She’s not meant to dress on her own.
‘What the fuck happened Raven?’
I asked him through the mind link and he remained stoic and cold, his expression unwavering as he replied.
“It’s true, I saw her beat Tessy to a pulp. If not for my intervention; she would have killed her.”
He said and I cursed.
Fuck Lilia, one way to further implicate yourself.
“And she must perform the rites since she’s the Luna until she no longer becomes one. That’s is my order and it’s law!” She fired and the whole place was quiet.
‘No!..” the most heartbreaking voice echoed in my heart as she struggled to form words.
“No Lex, it wasn’t intentional. Please don’t let them take me to a dungeon or fight. I won’t survive!” She pleaded bitterly, her face was red with fear and my heart constricted hard against itself.
The crowd was waiting for me, after the High Priestess order; I should approve.
But here I am frozen in this place and unable to do shit.
Her words sank deep into me like a hot volcano as I sunk my teeth into my lips.
Fuckkk!!
It’s the law and I’m also bound by it, she said I can’t change it. She said I’m weak and she’ll prove me wrong. Why does this feel that she’s challenging me?
“Please Lex, please don’t-do- this. Help me please, I can’t survive it. I beg you.”
She pleaded desperately and helplessly and I couldn’t help but clear my throat.
I thought I’d been in a situation where passing out orders or fulfilling them was an influence of great power and authority but right now. I’m seeing the opposite and it’s always with her.
I’m doing things I’m not supposed to be doing and I’m having a rethink of my decision when I don’t bat an eyelid before passing my order.
I’m getting stupid each day and it won’t do me any good.
Maybe Alveria is right, I’m an Alpha after all and I need to be careful, but Lilia-
The mere thought of her words sinking at how pathetic I am sent a nauseous feeling to me.
But I shoved away all thoughts and said my final word.
“It’s Approved, take her away.”
