Contracted to the wrong Alpha
Chapter 19
****
Lilia’s Pov
The air was chilly and a sweet smell of Hyacinth flowers and Jasmine hit my nostrils, loud exciting howls could be heard and the cheering and excitement got louder as I neared the center of where I was expected to sit with Lex.
I was escorted by two beautifully dressed maids and my heart skittered in a thumping beat when Lex turned and focused his gaze and attention on me.
Even the crowd had stopped murmuring and were now staring at me as if something was wrong with my attire and fear clouded me instantly.
It’s an outdoor activity and the setting was great, more like a camp as I could see tents being pitched at each side of the streets save for a long straight pathway. The people were dressed in all manner of blue which could explain why I was given blue. It’s the color of that day to match the Ritual.
And the crowd was just so indescribable, I got to discover that Midnight Shade Pack wasn’t the only people present as I saw familiar faces from other packs.
My shoulders relaxed when I saw Doctor Morphyl, he was dressed in Blue blazers and his ever present spectacle was on his face. I had promised to reach out to him and begged him to stay but I never had the opportunity to do that.
It was as if I was locked in a cage and didn’t know my way around.
Lex was staring shamelessly at me and I was forced to look down on my attire wondering what I didn’t do right aside from the bridge of my chest which was visibly open and my breast was slightly covered. I looked fine but he stared and I wasn’t mistaken as his eyes darkened when I finally got to where he was seated.
He wasn’t just beautiful but fucking attractive, and when I thought that black suits him perfectly, Royal Blue got me all wrong.
And I held a sharp intake of breath when I saw the piercing at the side of his ears, the tiny piece of metal making him look like a rockstar in his Blue tux outfit and pants to showcase his long legs.
He looked like a runaway model and I wished we were on good terms, I would have used him to model my fashion line.
I saw how his jaw ticked in an arrogant pose and I would be damned to say if his stomach wasn’t so lean with the delicious abs I had once feasted my eyes on. He cleared his throat and tore his gaze away while I was led to sit beside him. A Royal blue chair that was laced with a velvet material.
I saw his mother, she was seated at the other end of where the chair was located with her husband. Facing us and giving a look of admiration, I wonder how she felt when she heard about my disappearance. I had not seen her in Midnight Shade since I arrived so staring at her was making me feel nervous.
However, that prickly feeling of nervousness was now intensified when I saw Alveria matched in gracefully. She was beautiful, cladded in a long feathery gown that reached down to her knees. She carried a symbol of authority which made the crown cower in silence and I wished I could snort. I wished I could express my dislike for this woman the same as her daughter.
She might not express it or use her authority to cover it up, but I know that this woman dislikes me. I could feel it in my gut no matter how I tried to push it out and respect her as the sacred being she is.
There’s this fire in my eyes and my heart almost leaped out of my throat when she turned to stare at me fiercely. It was a stare of warning or anticipation of what might happen to me which gave me a heart-wrenching feeling from the pit of my stomach.
I swallowed hard and tried to compose myself when she began.
“Dear Goddess of The South, North East and West. We’ve gathered before you once again, to retribute our imperfections before thee and to seek your guidance;”
“Let your light Shine on us.” The crowd replied and I was stunned. Alveria’s eyes were shut as if she was saying a powerful Mantra and for once, I could feel the sincerity in her words. She was genuinely praying to the moon goddess and the cooperation with the crowd’s response was uplifting.
“Dear Goddess of the Pack, Our Sins we lay before thee, Our prosperity we give unto you for more success, Our Enemies, we hand them over to you. As Blue as the ocean and sky are, pour down your showers of great blessings and wash every purge of dirt. The color we wear invites serenity, stability, inspiration, and wisdom.
All of this we ask and bring unto you.”
“Let your light shine upon us.” The crowd chorused again and I watched over how every prayer sent a true deep meaning.
It was exciting and healing and I couldn’t help but join in reciting the last prayer at the end of every word Alveria spotted from her mouth.
She continued this session for the next thirty minutes until she was finally done.
“It’s time to light the floating blue candles.” She said and I felt excited of course. This was the part I was looking forward to, I’ve heard how this was magical.
How do you get your candle to float to the very topmost sky and make a wish that might come through?
The only sad part about it was if your candle landed right back to the sea. It’s a bad omen. Something bad might happen next and we can never tell how dangerous that might be.
I didn’t even care about anyone’s presence anymore but fought a giggle when we were told to do a long stroll to the location of the sea, praying and pouring scents, flowers, and oil along the way.
The children were so beautiful dressed in little mermaid tail gowns, with their baskets of flowers.
I had almost followed them, leaving my seat since everyone was now on their feet when that command made me stop and I swear that I heard a chuckle.
“You don’t get to follow the crowd to the sea, we are using the car.” He said curtly, his voice dark and deep, and the smirk that appeared on his face made him look as if he was mocking me.
“But…” I looked at how they painted the street with blue Hyacinth flowers and I badly wanted to do that too.
“I want to join the crowd, isn’t that why it’s the ritual?”
I asked with a low tone for the first time, hoping he let me.
The air was natural and smelled so nice to be in a car.
“Alphas don’t walk with the crowd!”
“Then go,” I told him and his eyes flashed in shock as if he couldn’t believe what I just told him.
“Since you’re an Alpha, you can join the car instead. I want to join them, it’s exciting. I want to walk with them. I’ll see you at the sea okay?” I told him casually and ran off with my heels.
I’m an expert with heels, that’s why I’m a fashion designer. I have them in all Inches so worrying about me tripping is totally out of the box. It’s not going to happen.
I joined the crowd in walking and they paved the way for me, the look on their faces was priceless, and after I told them it was okay. They relaxed and looked extremely excited to walk with me and throw the flowers at me instead. Alveria had walked farther in front and I’m glad I’m at the back.
Damn!
The air was sweet and the moon shone brightly as if it was acknowledging the celebration. I expected the location of the sea to be a little bit far as I enjoyed the little stroll but It was short-lived and they came to an abrupt halt, scattering themselves and around the bank of it. Everyone had a candle in their hands, with a floating bag and I wondered where they got theirs.
Alveria announced for the candle lightning to begin and I felt pissed that I didn’t have mine. Maybe if I had stayed with Lex, I would have gotten mine. I was pissed, I wanted to light mine too
The place sparkled brightly when the session began and the reflection on it on the sea made it look as if they were lighting stars in the air.
“Why won’t they give me a candle too?” I whined inwardly.
“Because you’re just so stubborn and faster than your shadow.” His deep warm voice echoed in my mind and I felt sweet chills run down my spine.
Stupid dick! I didn’t know I had carelessly left the mind link open.
‘I can hear you flower!’ This time around it came as a growl and I huffed.
“Where are you Alpha, did you get any candles?”
‘hmm, I do. But you won’t get any if you keep standing in that place like a lost rat’. He uttered and I rolled my eyes.
“Where are you?”I asked him, searching my eyes around the crowd. “I’ll come to you, just tell me,” I said and he sighed.
‘Right behind you.” He said and I turned my back sharply to meet him and that same moment, I saw a maid come over to give me a candle and a floating ball which made me screech in excitement.
And I leaped in excitement to meet him.
“I finally got one” I smiled looking at his hands with two candles before eagerly dragging him and ignoring his cold stern look.
“Take it easy, you can light it at any time.” He scoffed and I shook my head.
“No, I’ve been dying to do this for eternity and I’m going to do this with everyone now that I’ve gotten the chance.”
I told him and he randomly shook his head and passed a lighter to me which I didn’t hesitate to light, placing the candle in the floating bag and I helped him light his own too.
The feeling of accomplishment was so thrilling that I could hardly control myself.
If I were to be with Tessy, I would have screamed in excitement.
“Oh my! My candle is flying higher than yours!” I giggled and clapped excitedly and bit my lips hard not darting my gaze away.
He didn’t say a word but watched and in a fleet of seconds, the unexpected happened.
My candle tumbles down over with this unseen force and sinks into the sea.
