Chapter 7
***
Lilia’s Pov
Midnight Shade Pack was a pack I didn’t want to mess with, not with their high ranking in wolves, population, and standards, and having their current Alpha as the President’s son is enough to make any heads cower or get excited to get married Into such Clan and become a part of them.
It was a different case for me, I had my poor heart to look after, I had a wolf to protect and a secret to keep buried which would get me in trouble by accepting to marry the Alpha of Midnight Shade.
How I had sneaked out of the mansion last night remains a mystery to me, not even the security woke up. It was a slow sneakish move enough for me to meet the Night Train to Aldero Pack Estate that leads straight to my Assistant’s house who was eagerly waiting after I had called her with urgency.
I know I’m stupid doing this but I’m left with no choice, I just can’t do this, My father would be mad, my mother would be disappointed and most of all Lex would be extremely pissed but all that would go down the drain when I leave the country, lay low and let everything die down until he sees a bride to solve the catastrophe he had on hand.
“Nonono, you’re crazy!” Melody raised her voice at me for the first time after I narrated my ordeal and plan to her and I nodded.
“Yeah, I know Mel but I gotta go. I can’t do this, not even a day would let me be at ease.” I presumed with a tinge of uncertainty in my tone. She stared at me as if I had got two horns when I hadn’t even stated the real cause of my visit.
“It’s Midnight Shade Lilia, think about the possibility of-”
“No Melody, I’ve got my flight booked and I’ll be leaving first thing in the morning. Just.. just marry Lex in my place.” I announced and her beautiful blue eyes almost popped out from its socket.
“Lilia- ” Her voice was so hoarse that it cracked with shock.
“It’s for six months, I’ll pay you well. It’s just business and it would be fine, I just don’t want him standing on the aisle waiting for me and looking so embarrassed without me.” I begged her, clutching her hands with my sweaty and clammy palms as my heart raced faster at the thought of her rejection which would leave me devastated.
“This is dangerous, you should just go to him please.”
I begged her desperately, getting married to Lex was something I didn’t think of before signing that damn paper. I bet my father was also blind to the benefits that came with marrying me off that he didn’t realize who I was and what I was hiding from the world.
No matter how they accepted and took me in as theirs it won’t change the fact of who I am and getting exposed by another pack would be something extremely shameful and scornful.
I hated White Crisp Pack for many reasons, they were naive and depended solely on the customs and traditions of the Wolf law even if they were doing the wrong thing. As long as it was the Law of their ancestors, they needed to follow it.
I was an orphan, living mostly as a Pack slave since my parents died from a strange sickness gotten from the Lycan clan, when they went for a trip with other pack members to get rare products we never had. The Lycan’s borders were only opened once a year to have access to other parts of the countries and to get enough of whatever one desired. Our pack was stuck at the borders of Los Angeles, far away from another country’s coast.
They left and came home sick, and three days later they died.
Tyson Conor, being the beta of White Crisp, took me and stopped me from being a slave. Their only daughter had died from this same disease and I became a part of them and took care of me silly, marking me as theirs. The pack chose me to be their Luna and the Alpha approved of it. Jax wasn’t bad and he wasn’t my fated mate but who cares about your opinion when the Pack has decided?
I was betrothed to Jax, everything was smooth until my parents took me to Bri-Royals Academy in New York.
“I know you won’t come up with something terrifying like this but please don’t let Lex see you if you don’t show up at the wedding.” Melody sniffed, feeling so bad for me and I nodded.
“I’ll stand in for you, I hope my father doesn’t hear of this. He will kill me, Lilia.” She choked on her words and I knew she was scared of the Midnight Shade.
Those were the only Pack we failed to have an alignment after our numerous proposals sent to them and the projects done to give a neat impression. She felt we would eventually get there soon especially when our client from Chicago suddenly gave a positive reply.
I was so close to getting my dreams accomplished and It became tarnished and drained in one day.
“I’ll pay you back Melody, I promise. I already have the makeup artist ready. I spoke to my guys about getting the wedding dress when Seline arrives and ”
“Who’s Seline?” She cuts me off.
The designer, ” I replied with a smug snort and I recalled her pretty face.
Just try to be there before him and hide your face.”.
I told her and she released a shaky breath.
“My scent, he…he might know that I’m not you or” I pushed a tiny bottle to her before she finished her statement and she frowned.
“What’s this?”
“Use it, Mel, it will mask your scent. Don’t ask me how, just use it and stay safe. I have to go.”
I told her and she nodded.
“Please don’t get caught.” She called out again and I nodded, taking a last glance at her and walking out to take a Late-night cab to drive me to a hotel near the international airport.

I couldn’t sleep a wink, I was nervous as hell as my blood rushed faster than before. Lee was having mixed feelings about everything and I told her that all I need is to enter the plane and we’ll be good.
‘ Your father would be mad’
She told me and I nodded, feeling my heart breaking at the imagination of his face contorting into a frown. The disgrace he might receive would be high and damn! His precious seat at the Pack’s parliament might be taken.
“He will survive.” I told Lee, my father wasn’t poor. He’s a Beta and highly connected with other affiliated top members and wolves with high ranking. He just needed absolute power in New York because that’s the only City where he was free without Barbaric laws and bizarre treatment.
The City he took me into when I was castigated and rejected by Pack for being raped and losing my dignity. A dignity meant for my betrothed and giving my wolf a heavy curse to torment us all the days of our lives.
“I don’t think this is right Lilia, we might get into trouble.” My wolf was disturbed and concerned, If I won’t say restless but the thought of leaving my nightmare behind to start afresh in another city was stronger than what would befall me if I get caught.
We reached the airport earlier than any passenger and got our tickets reserved. I would love to sit by the window to see how little the earth would be, leaving my greatest fear and old shell behind to explore something new. This might be the hardest decision of my life but I’m glad I’m doing something for myself, something dangerous but would be worth it when I’m out.
Now what was supposed to be a smooth plan and successful flight is being delayed, two hours gone and the airport is now filled. The large JumboTron displayed explained the reasons for the flight delay and I read aloud.
[ We are sorry to inform you that every scheduled flight would be delayed while some might be postponed as regards the recent turbulence on the air in Asia and the Improper Aircraft Maintenance is being taken to Acton. We apologize deeply but your safety comes first]
“Bullshit!!” I cried and panic washed over me, Asia is another continent far from New York, or was this the Moon goddess way of mocking me?
I booked another flight with another station but I couldn’t deny the burning feeling on my skin, that I was being watched. I looked around but everyone was minding their business which made me sigh. I was just nervous.
However, the moment I picked my box to take a turn. I saw him, a strange Midnight sin staring intently at me in the day.
