Chapter 565: No Regard for Human Life

Marilyn threw a tantrum.
Most of the items in the master bedroom were smashed.
“Why! I don’t like Jaquan! Why am I marrying him! Do I have to be with him for the rest of my life?” Marilyn shouted as she smashed a ceramic piece, her face covered in tears.
Since Nelson revealed Callie’s identity at her birthday party, Marilyn had become the laughingstock of all Ylosea. Everyone said she was a homewrecker!
Even she hadn’t expected Nelson to offend her and the entire Ellison family for Callie.
Was Callie really that important…
Exhausted from smashing things, Marilyn sat on the floor, panting and crying.
When Sienna arrived, she saw Marilyn in this pitiful state. She sighed slightly and walked in softly, “Stand up.”
Hearing the sound, Marilyn looked up at Sienna’s feet and felt even more aggrieved. “Why did Father arrange this? You all know I don’t like Jaquan.”
She didn’t move, so Sienna had to bend down and help her up. “Jaquan is a good man. He has been liking you for so many years. Even if you don’t like him, you should be moved.”
Moved… Marilyn couldn’t deny that during her days abroad, Jaquan was the only one who came to see her.
“But Mother, being moved isn’t love.”
“Then who do you love, Nelson?” Sienna reached out and tidied Marilyn’s messy hair. “Marilyn, if he could publicly acknowledge his wife on your birthday, it means he doesn’t love you or even care about you. If you persist, you’ll ruin your own life.”
Marilyn listened and gradually calmed down. “But I’m not willing to give up. I can wait for them to divorce…”
Sienna said nothing, just stared at her quietly.
Marilyn’s voice weakened, knowing how undignified she looked.
“This marriage is the best solution for you, for Jaquan, for the Ellison family, and for Scott Group. Marilyn, don’t give up on yourself. Your life is still long, and you have your own happiness.” Sienna spoke slowly, her eyes full of pity for her daughter.
Marilyn sat opposite her, eyes blurred with tears. She suddenly asked, “Mother, I heard from Father that you were very surprised when Callie appeared. Why?”
She was fixated on this answer and watched Sienna’s reaction without blinking.
Sienna hesitated for a moment. “I just found her unfamiliar. I didn’t expect Nelson to marry such a girl.”
“Really?” Marilyn pressed on, feeling as if her heart was being cut.
“Of course.”
“Then why did you help her rescue Regan? Just let her die in the basement. No one would know, and the Ellison family wouldn’t be entangled in scandal. Issac wouldn’t have been sent away by Father. Wouldn’t that be better?” she murmured.
Sienna was almost furious at these words. She looked at her daughter in disbelief. “Marilyn, do you know what you’re saying? That’s a human life! Your brother committed a crime! You’re so cold-blooded, as if you don’t care about human life. You weren’t like this before.”
Marilyn was stumped, not knowing how to respond.
“My Marilyn might have been anxious and willful at times, but she was always kind-hearted from childhood to adulthood. She was never like this.” Sienna shook her head, feeling unfamiliar with her daughter.
From childhood to adulthood… Marilyn choked up. “But did you ever pay attention to my growth? Since Maevelyn left, how much attention have you given to me and Issac? In my opinion, it’s normal for Issac to end up this way. So even if everyone blames him, I don’t!”
