After Josey departed, Aiden hurriedly followed her, ensuring she understood the impending challenges and emphasizing the need to remain focused and composed.
As soon as Josey left the heavenly realm, the picture on the table underwent a startling transformation, revealing a new and horrifying image. Sabrina’s jaw dropped, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She had known that Xander, her chosen mate, faced danger, but she hadn’t realized that Josey would be unable to save him from the imminent peril. Xander’s fate was sealed-he was destined to die, and there was no changing that cruel reality.
Tears streamed down Sabrina’s face as grief and helplessness washed over her. Her legs gave way, and she thankfully collapsed into a nearby chair, seeking support amid the overwhelming emotions.
“Why is this happening? I have not directly interfered,” Sabrina lamented, her voice filled with anguish.
“We knew that any interference would unleash a chaos beyond our reckoning,” one of the advisers responded, their tone edged with the weight of ancient wisdom.
“I cannot bear this,” Sabrina uttered, summoning the last ounce of strength to rise to her feet. She slammed her hands on the table, a desperate attempt to rattle the picture beneath and alter its devastating contents.
To her profound disappointment, the image remained unchanged, resolute in its depiction of impending tragedy
In the hallowed halls of the celestial realm, Sabrina, the moon goddess of the werewolves, stood amidst a gathering of her trusted advisers. They spoke with grave concern, their voices laden with the weight of ancient wisdom and prophetic knowledge. They warned her of an inevitable event that would transpire in the mortal realm and changing it would produce an even greater risk- a grim fate that awaited her chosen mate, Xander.
Sabrina’s heart trembled with the foreboding knowledge, her radiant eyes reflecting a tumultuous mix of love, determination, and the unyielding power that resided within her godly essence. She understood the laws set by the divine council, prohibiting direct interference in the affairs of the earthly plane. However, the bond she shared with Xander transcended the realm of mortal laws, and she couldn’t stand idly by, allowing him to fall victim to cruel destiny.
Surely this was not the way things should go… this cannot be it!
The goddess’ mind raced with the possibilities that lay before her. The answers were clear, yet the repercussions unknown. She had been tasked with safeguarding the balance of the universe, but her heart yearned to protect the one she held most dear.
“I need to be alone,” Sabrina whispered, her voice laced with sorrow, and the advisers quietly left the room.
In the ensuing silence, the weight of the situation enveloped her. The pounding of her heart echoed like thunderous drums, drowning out all other sounds.
Xander, the man she would forever love, the one who deserved to be by her side. Just when she believed she had saved his life by sacrificing their love, she discovered that his fate was still sealed, destined for doom.
“How am I supposed to carry this burden? How can I be expected to accept this?” Sabrina’s voice erupted in anguished screams, reverberating through the empty room.
Her heart shattered, far more than she ever thought possible. The ringing in her ears grew deafening, muffling every sound, even with her heightened hearing abilities.
No longer could she hear the howls of the men who would take her beloved away, nor their unwitting prayers for protection, unaware that they were seeking her aid in their quest to end his life.
They reveled, drinking and chanting, praising her unknowingly for their sinister schemes, falsely believing that she had allowed this tragedy to unfold.
Placed in a position of powerlessness, Sabrina grappled with the unfairness of it all. Why should one man suffer so greatly for entering her life, time and time again?
Sabrina felt her body tremble with fear, sensing the inevitability of what lay ahead-Xander’s imminent demise. She could already envision the moment he drew his final breath, whispering her name and professing his eternal love, even as life slipped away.
It was as though he knew she could hear him, witness his dying moments. His pain would become her own, knowing it was the end, yet he wanted to depart this world giving Sabrina the knowledge that he had loved her immensely. Even in death, Xander’s love for her would persist, transcending the boundaries of mortality.
And something within her broke.
A fracture ran through her being, shattering the resolve that had tethered her to the celestial laws.
The decision crystallized within her, born out of a necessity to preserve her sanity. Two things became certain in her heart-first, her unwavering love for this man, and second, the knowledge that Xander would willingly face any punishment rather than witness her destruction.
He would choose death, and since she could not die, the decision became clear.
And so, with resolute defiance, Sabrina made her decision.
