Ava’s POV
Aiden shot her a cold glance. I had never seen such a cold expression on his face before. Diana was wiggling, almost peeing on her skirt. He hurried toward her and yanked her face tightly, cornering her in a niche.
“Next time you threaten or vituperate my mate, I won’t think twice about ripping your head off. Do you understand me?” he shot at her.
“Yes, yes, I am sorry,” she managed to say.
“Sorry for yourself, bitch. You should be gratified that she apologized on your behalf,” he declared, bestowing her with another lethal gaze. “And you, Ethan, this is why I tell you to avoid all these cheap babes, but you refuse to listen to me. Look at what you caused. Look at what that bitch did to my mate,” Aiden cried out after letting go of Diana.
“It’s OK. As I told you, I am not hurt,” I said.
“You are not hurt? Stop endeavoring to make him feel less guilty. That bitch dragged your hair, darling,” Aiden announced.
“Calm down, please. I am serious. I am alright,” I told him.
“I am so sorry, baby,” Ethan finally spoke up. “He is feeling guilty and remorseful.”
“I forgive you,” I told him.
Earlier.
I was alone in the class studying. Ethan and Aiden were not in the same class as me. When the teacher left the class, I was busy packing my stuff when Diana entered the class. I was unaware she was coming to fight with me, not until she hauled me by my hair.
“You slut,” she cried out. “I was unaware that you were dating my boyfriend, Ethan, because I was not in school. You managed to seduce and hook up with my boyfriend. How dare you seduce my boyfriend?”
“Boyfriend?” I asked her, grappling to make her let go of my hair.
“Yes, Ethan, he is my boyfriend,” she answered back. “He is mine, and I’m going to teach you a lesson that you will never forget in your gross life.”
I was speechless. Yes, I am in love with Ethan, but I am not a weakling. I am not a susceptible girl.
I dragged back her hair too before we started fighting.
“Hey, let go of my hair now, you bitch,” I refused to let go of her hair. She screamed and begged me to let her go. I began to drag her hair. I dragged her to the floor. She started kicking the air, and she began to scream and beg me to let her go.
“I am your boss, bitch. How dare you come to fight with me when you are this weak,” I scowled before continuing. “I’m going to show you the consequence of picking on me.”
“Please, I am sorry. Let go of me, please,” she begged, but no one came to her aid. Everyone was watching us fight. None of them helped her out.
“What is going on here?” I heard Aiden’s voice. He was with Ethan.
“And here comes your boyfriend, Diana,” I sneered, hurling daggers at her so-called boyfriend, Ethan.
“What’s happening?” Ethan asked, but I didn’t retort.
“What happened, Ava?” Aiden asked me.
I replied, “This bitch suddenly came inside the class and assaulted me. She called me a bitch and said I seduced her boyfriend.”
“And who is the boyfriend she was talking about?” Aiden asked.
I replied and asked Ethan, “Ethan, the same Ethan. I never knew you had a girlfriend.”
“Is she your girlfriend?” I asked.
“No, she’s not. I don’t even know who she is,” he answered back.
“What?!” Diana screamed when she heard Ethan’s reply.
“But we slept with each other before.”
“What does that mean? Does that make you my girlfriend?” he asked.
“I chose you. I decided to trust you,” Ava declared.
“Do you hear that, Diana? He’s not yours. He’s mine, and I will fight you over and over again because of him,” Ava declared openly, before letting her go.
Aiden shot her a deadly cold gaze before walking up to warn her to stay away from me.
After school was over.
Ethan kept apologizing over and over to me. He thought I was still furious at him because I decided to ignore him, but I was not angry. I had already forgiven him, but I was hurt, not because she came to fight with me, but because he slept with her.
(Am I also a knickknack like Diana to him? I am perplexed and grim.)
The drive home was silent and cold.
“Aiden,” I called him. “Can you drive me to my apartment?”
“But baby, why?” he asked as he halted the car.
“I need to be alone,” I told him.
He glanced at his brother for a few minutes before looking back at me with tearing eyes. “What the fuck?”
“What is wrong? Why are you crying?” I asked him.
“Please don’t go. Don’t leave me. Please don’t abandon us,” he started begging me.
“I am not leaving you guys. I just need to be alone by myself,” I told him while holding his face. Aiden’s sob grew louder and louder until I felt guilty.
“I am sorry, but I need this.”
“OK,” he answered back before driving back. Aiden never uttered a word. I turned to look at Ethan. He was chewing his fingernails. It was all written all over his face. Fear. He was scared.
We finally arrived at the apartment I shared with my sister. Without emitting a single word to them, I stepped down as I walked toward my apartment. I rang the bell outside, and Oliver opened the door.
She was shocked to see me.
“You never told me you were coming home,” she said.
“Can you at least allow me to come in before smashing my brain with questions?” I walked in, and why can’t I come to my house?
“What is wrong, sister? This is not you,” she said as she began to search my eyes. “Did you fight with your beau?”
“Can you let me be for now?” I told her, but she refused to listen to me, not until I explained my fight with Diana in school to her.
“Wow, that crazy bitch. I wish I was in school today. I could have taught her some lessons on your behalf. But, since you say you forgive him, why are you returning home?” she asked.
“Yes, I forgive him, but what if I am like the second Diana in Ethan’s heart? What if he doesn’t love me as much as he claims? I am troubled and scared. I just want to be alone,” I explained.
“Yes, that is true. But what if you are wrong too? What if he loves you? You should have discussed this among yourselves instead of coming here and causing further misunderstanding between yourself and them. You have to talk to them,” she asserted.
“OK, I will talk to them in school tomorrow,” I replied.
“Please do, sister,” she said. “I will leave you now to rest.” Olivia walked into my bedroom.
***Aiden.
“I swear, brother, if she relinquishes me, I’m going to kill you and that bitch,” I mind-linked Ethan when Ava asked me to drop her at her house. I was sad. Why was this happening to me? Why not Ethan alone? All of this nonsense was his fault.
I warned him to stay away from those girls, but he refused. He told me he was only with them because he wanted to forget about our mate when we first met her. Look at what he caused because of his avarice. I could feel my mate’s sadness; it was seeping into my veins. I was sure Ethan felt her grief and sorrow too. He caused all this. What could I do to please her? I was helpless.
I drove to our apartment without uttering a single word t o my brother.
“Brother,” Ethan finally spoke out. “I am sorry. Please forgive me.”
I was annoyed, but what could I do? He was my twin brother. He was my blood.
“It’s okay, brother. We will beg her together. After all, you are my brother,” I responded to him. I forgave him.
We both planned how to talk to and beg Ava the next day in school, and we hoped she would forgive us.
The next day.
We woke up early. We took our bath and dressed quickly. We should give anything that is in our power to receive her forgiveness, brother,” Aiden said as he patted Ethan on his shoulder.
“Yes, brother, I am counting on you to help me out,” he answered back.
“We will try our best.”
After we finished our breakfast, we got ready to go to school.
“She is here; I can smell her,” Ethan said.
“Me too,” I replied. “Let go, brother. Let’s go find our mate.”
We followed her scent to where she was.
She was here. She was reading. We both saw her in the class.
“Gosh, look at her pudgy pinky lips. She’s so beautiful,” Ethan said.
“This is not the appropriate time to be chatting about this. We should go in there to apologize,” Aiden shot back.
“Hey,” she greeted us immediately when she saw us. We were surprised.
She stood up and walked towards us.
“I’m sorry about yesterday. I should never have reacted like that to you. Please forgive me. I am only scared and think that you don’t love me, and I am like the second Diana in your heart.”
“What?!” we both exclaimed. “Hey baby, you’ll never be like anyone else. You’re you, and that’s what makes you special in our hearts; we love you so much, Ava.” They both said it together.
We talked among ourselves, and we settled every misunderstanding between us.
It was lunchtime.
I was in the middle of talking and smiling at each other with my boyfriend when an unknown girl walked up to us.
She was full of smiles.
“Hi, baby,” she mumbled as she hugged Aiden tightly, kissing him on the lips. “I missed you.”
“What is happening here?” I screamed.
